  • Have a vivoactive 3 from garmin. Its great. Don't use it for sleep but for everything else. Love all the features. Used to have a fitbit, would never go back to one. Garmin all the way
  • Did exactly the same. The nhs one is great. Laura's voice was great and I really enjoyed shouting obscenities at her when it was tough! In the privacy of my own home on the treadmill! I did it entirely on the treadmill and then moved outside and did parkruns. You CAN do it!
  • Kawartha moose tracks
  • We bought a bread maker as store bought bread is just too sweet. I have a zojirushi and make 1lb sugar free loaves. 260g flour 180ml water, milk powder, butter 12 g and 3g yeast. Comes out great everytime. More recipes on their website. Also make 50/50 wholemeal and white sugar free loaves. Need to add 15g of vital wheat…
  • Walking and running are my go tos. I was quite large and then started on the couch to 5k program on the treadmill. It was do-able and very encouraging to be able to run for 30 minutes. Then I took it outside - I quite enjoy running outside, but I have to have music! On the treadmill I watch shows, so it passes the time (It…
  • Small steps and everything is achievable. It is essentially calories in and calories out, be honest and just start tracking. It does work. These forums are so so helpful too. Read the threads, stay positive.

  • Garmin. Fitbits on acid! Wonderful things and very comfortable.
  • #metoo. Did couch 25k. Synced Fitbit now Garmin to MFP. Started doing Parkruns. I hated running because I was rubbish at it but as I have got fitter and stronger I actually quite like it. I love the results and the sense of achievement when I finish a 5k. Another runner commented that I had got faster last week; real…
  • Yep. Former Fitbit user, now garmin convert. Much better.
  • Depending on where you are, you could try Parkrun. Free timed 5km run every week - I did Couch25K on the treadmill and have just progressed to Parkrun. Great camaraderie and not a race environment. I do that once a week and the treadmill once a week - it's a nice balance.
  • Today is Parkrun day - we're in Canada - rather chilly! Started my WLJ in Aug 2018; did couch25K NHS December 2018 and in Aug 2019 started outdoor running with ParkRun! (Couch 25K was done on the treadmill at home). I don't really like running but love the feeling of accomplishing the 5K and the smiles from everyone else.…
  • Vivoactive 3. Its awesome
  • Just bought a vivo active 3 from Garmin. Cheap as they have released version 4. Currently on sale in Costco for 170.....version 4 is 450! GPS enabled and is seeming to do the job. Does sleep tracking, syncs to mfp and is waterproof.
  • This^^ The podcasts were great. I'm now doing Parkrun and one run a week on a treadmill. As I get more confident I may venture more outside but for now, I'm taking it slowly! Just wondering what to run in with cooler weather coming!
  • Shock absorber for me. Great bra. All secure!
  • Started doing couch25k in December last year on the treadmill at home. Never run for more than 30 mins slowly. However, Parkrun came to the town where I live. I gave it a go and now I've completed 3 park runs and got faster each week. Woo hoo. I am quite enjoying it though I'm really not a runner and it's still hard work.…
  • Alcohol - my motivation/self control is minimized greatly by beer and wine! Both go with chips and peanuts and cake - right? Since I knocked that on the head, I don't LNS any more and the weight has gone. Along with logging daily of course and being sensible on what I eat. It was a bit of a lifestyle change, but I was fed…
  • I've had the same but I just say "well my BMI still says overweight, so I'm going by that" Can't argue with facts.... I'm close 25.6 but still overweight. I was obese so loving the new weight but I'll stop when I want, not when others tell me too. And FWIW I eat icecream most days 😀
  • I was having a medical procedure recently and the doc asked me of any eating/dietary or weight changes that i had noticed. I said "Yes, I've lost 34 lbs!" He said "Deliberately ? and why?". To which I replied, "Well I was too fat". Followed by "I talk a lot when I am nervous". The doc smiled, and said well done.....then…
  • This was also me. No willpower after a few beers. Chips, cheese, and the beer. Decided to cut out beer and went away on vacation for 2 weeks. Ate lots, walked lots and lost 7lbs that break! Cut out beer completely and am down 33lbs so far. Ice cream is my treat and I account for it in my totals. That was over a year ago.…
  • This was me, minus the surgery, a year ago. 183lbs and 5"4. I did have a surgery but it didnt effect weight, more an emotional toll. Fast forward a year and I'm now 150lb. Still want to loose more but definitely happier. I've just eaten a bit less and logged everything on mfp. I also got a Fitbit and synced that to MFP and…
  • **do this**. Small steps and log it all. Small adjustments get you started. You will succeed, just start logging everything. It worked for me. Good luck.
  • Me too. Still losing, coming up on a year now. Lost 34lbs just 10 or so to go so I know it will be very slow and steady and so I want it to continue slowly downwards. I have a wifi scale and its seamless to sync the data. Large fluctuations with the cycle and I like to keep an eye, plus I love cake and ice cream! But just…
  • Didn't want to be fat and fifty. I succeeded.
  • In actual fact..... Facts are always actual.
  • I needed to loose 50, and I've done 34 so far. Its taken 10 months of slow and steady logging. I use a Fitbit and am now jogging too, something I never thought I'd do. Just log everything and I love the Fitbit as it counts all my activities. Slow and steady; restrict nothing, just build it in to your calories with the…
  • Keep at it and dont be put off ever. It's a tried and tested program and near the end I got freaked out at how much it ramped up the running. Stick with it, its completely doable and the satisfaction when you finish it is awesome. I now easily slowly run for 30 minutes, my next goal is to actually run the 5K. I need more…
  • My best advice to you is to get a fitness tracker and start doing some gentle exercise. I cut out wine last year and immediately dropped 7lb. Then I slightly increased my exercise. Worked well and I have now lost 30lbs and am greatly enjoying exercise. Even if walking you still burn calories and can eat them back! Fitbit…
  • I don't wear it at night, whilst the stats are interesting, it bothers me in the night. I know I sleep well or not, depending! Otherwise I wear it all the time and love the info it gives me, in conjunction with mfp!
