I seriously need to get off this computer and in my gym room for upper body day.

Most I send to my SIL who is larger than I. I do keep one pair of jeans that are too large, and my large t-shirts and sweatshirts. Mostly I tend to wear either workout clothes or palazzo/yoga pants which can go a few sizes. My dresses tend to be loose and flowing by choice.

I don't do Keto, or any other type of "diet". I eat clean and adjust my eating habits as needed. I don't have an issue with diets, but they just don't work for me. The closest "program" that comes to my eating habits is Bill Phillips "Eating for Life", though I don't get much into supplements or eating 6 times a day.

It's like this at my house: I made it clear we were getting healthier. If they wanted snacks that weren't, they had to keep them in a shoe box hidden from me. The cupboards only keep healthy foods. My philosophy is if it's not in the house, I can't eat it.

Good morning! Or whatever it is where you are. Hope you are all well and happy. Thank you, Langman22! Yes, it is overwhelming. Hey, VT? My youngest was born in Brattleboro! Getting back into the swing of things today after cleaning out my garage last Friday. I got bit twice by a spider, which I'm allergic to, and…

I count everything.

I have completely cut out processed sugar from my diet. I used to drink soda and put a lot of sugar in my coffee, as well as the candy. I feel so much better now, not sluggish. That is not to say I have cut out natural sugars (in fruits, etc) nor am I cutting carbs. I eat clean and balanced. It works for me

Trying to get caught up with this post and getting overwhelmed! But, that's me and I'll get there. All I can say right now is hugs all around. This group seems so supportive. Right now, I'm dealing with possible liver damage due to poor diet when I was in my long-term slump. Hoping to reverse that. Happy to say that my…

Thanks, both of you. I suspected it may be the culprit. I will be cutting it out to see how that works. I had been taking just my regular supplements (mostly for my disabilities, I'm allergic to the commercial meds) and recently just added the Omegas.

I went through 2 years of severe depression and anxiety and let myself go. So I get where you are coming from. I used to workout consistently and ate clean. Then, I fell into a junk food trap. I suffer from PTSD and brain damage. The trick is to get your mental health in order and learn to accept yourself as you are. Get…

I'm in. I've already got myself determined to do a rigorous 12-week program of better eating and working out, both cardio and strength training.

I only drink sparkling water. Kinda like soda, but nothing in it but carbonated water. I'm allergic to artificial sweeteners and not much into sugary sodas anyway.

Hi and morning all (from middle Tennessee USA). Lisa, age 54 here. Height: 5-7-1/2. Current weight: 187. Target: 145-155. The weather here has been off and on cool and rainy or warm and muggy. Summer is still trying to hold on here. We're just NE of Nashville. I can't post any Sept stats as I came into this late Sept.…

My MIL, born and raised in England, hates the metric system. We (my English hub and me, American), tend to use both. As someone said, the entries are user based, and not everyone is going to use standard measures. Best to use your own. When it comes to white rice, 1 cup uncooked rice (by volume, not weight) in 2 cups of…

Not all of us use packaged foods. Clean food, such as fresh fruits and veggies, don't come with a weight or volume. I use my own measurements (which reflect the Body for Life method) which is generally using my palm or fist for measurements. But then, I've been doing that long enough I know what that is, generally, in…

Getting into my jeans, which means losing about 30 lbs of fat, but still gaining muscle.

Originally, the Bay Area of California. Now, near Nashville TN

The only supplements I take are for some health issues I have. I use a whey powder for after my workouts and for snacks. I do strength training at home with some home equipment (dumbbells, barbells, ball, straps, tubes, step) and some cardio with walking, dancing, and kickboxing. I eat very clean.

Caffeine can cause headaches from withdrawal. They will pass in time. I don't do aspartame due to allergies. Isn't there a Coke with stevia or something more natural you can switch to? The only "soda" I drink is sparkling water.

I work out at home with weights. I can't drive due to disabilities and have turned my dining room into a makeshift gym with dumbbells, barbells (not a lot, just a couple), kettlebells, bands and tubes, a fitness ball, step, my old college laptop for music and vids, some mats, and my fitness library. I'm on an upswing from…

Agreed! It was invaluable when I was first starting out. Just offering an additional venue for those who might get discouraged.

I cooked homemade spaghetti last night. My own sauce using fresh ingredients, all clean. Homemade whole-wheat noodles as well.

Hello! 54 here, probably at the tail end of the middle-age group. Hope you all are doing well and meeting your goals!

No, actually, I don't. I did once upon a time, but it got tedious. I will say here I am not anti-food scale. It can be a valuable tool, especially starting out. I have one, but I find using a guide I learned from Bill Phillips (Body for Life) has always done right by me. Lean meats are a portion the size of my palm. Good…

Drinking my morning coffee, checking messages, enjoying the cool, crisp morning. Family is still asleep.

I went cold turkey off sugar. Got rid of anything not healthy out of my house and instilled determination in myself to not do sugar. After a while, I lost the taste for it. Some have to do it gradually. Do what works best for you.

I'm 54 and loving it. Trying to lose some fat and gain some muscle myself.
-
My petty reason would be vanity. My main reason would be to get strong and flexible.

Thank you for the welcome, Auntiebk! Looks like a really great group here! ~Lisa in middle TN
