Anyone had good results training at home regarding building size

I exclusively workout at home and I’ve been pretty happy with my results; can’t imagine dealing with other people at a gym. Since I got into lifting in 2015 I’ve gained ~15-20lb of lean mass by my available BF% comparison methods, basically recomping, not really bulk/cutting as I have trouble getting properly lean enough to start a textbook bulk. Chest has gone from 38” to 42”, haven’t really measuring anything else. I’ve accumulated my set up over a few years, could replicate the essentials of it for ~$800-$1000 tomorrow if I had to. It’s not the fanciest stuff but it’s held up well and works for me.

I'm the same I couldn't deal with people at a gym I do all my lifting at home getting results but it will take time I find building my arms definetly the hardest1

I strength train at home. My goals are a bit different. For me it's about strengthening and preserving muscle while losing weight. I've noticed more definition on legs and shoulders. (I don't kid myself that I've built muscle there; I'd been losing weight for about 6 months before I listened to all the smart people here saying strength training was important, so I don't even think I qualified for newbie gains. Add in that I started with 3 to 5-lb dumbbells and... not kidding myself.)
But I'm getting the results I wanted for my goals. And ALMOST ready to start using 30-lb dumbbells on seated lat raises and squats.3 -

I would think that would come down to programming more than venue, or do you feel you need more/different equipment? I’ve seen a few preacher curl benches for cheap on FB marketplace recently (<$50] and have mused about getting one.

Yes a preacher curl bench and power rack are my next investments
Regarding arms I have been told by some people since the arm muscles are used for every lift and every day stuff you need to work them every day to build size
I would have thought this would be a bad thing to do0 -
I have recently invested in a set of Bodylastic Resistance bands and l have to be honest l find them better than free weights.1

I use resistance bands aswell as free weights find them very good even on rest days i will do a few sets with resistance bands to keep the blood flowing
I find them very good and convenient for travel aswell0 -

I do all my work at home as well... No distraction, no egos, no sharing, no drive, no excuses.
It's awesome, although I have found it easier to build my arms then other muscles because it's just easier to go to failure on a barbell curl, or lateral raise then a bench press or squat...
That's the one major drawback... My spotters only 7yrs old lol4 -
Lol I know the feeling my spotter is only 3 years old but does like trying to stack the plates for me 😂😂 train them young0

How about diet how many calories does everyone get in I find it hard to get in over 1600 most days which probably isn't the best thing for building size I just can't eat anymore in the day
Ya I can go down the road of protein shakes but that adds alot of expense0 -
I have run three bulk cycles while lifting at home. I do have some equipment though.. bench, dumbbells, barbells and plates, kettlebells, cable machine, bands etc.
Are you trying to gain weight? If you are having trouble getting calories in this thread should help

I'm kind of stuck in the middle really I have lost 55lbs in the past 12 months still have another 20lbs to lose but I am unsure now should I focus on losing that 20lbs and then start building or start building now and cut later0

Have you been lifting while losing? Definitely start lifting while you lose to help retain what muscle you have, maybe even build a bit. When you get closer to goal you can focus on building muscle, either a bulk cycle or recomp (maintaining your weight and changing your body composition). Before starting a bulk you want to be fairly lean, as a male that would be around 10% bodyfat. For recomp you can be higher but still at a healthy weight for your height.2 -
I work out at home with weights. I can't drive due to disabilities and have turned my dining room into a makeshift gym with dumbbells, barbells (not a lot, just a couple), kettlebells, bands and tubes, a fitness ball, step, my old college laptop for music and vids, some mats, and my fitness library. I'm on an upswing from a bad, prolonged illness but have done this before with great results. I plan on getting more equipment as I go along such as a weight bench and elliptical machine for warmups.1

Yes I have been lifting for about 6 months but the scales has not changed in about 2 months I have dropped two sizes in my cloths tho so atleast I know I am lowering fat0
