I have sleep medication that has a side effect of food cravings. So I don't think I can realistically give up late-night snacks entirely. But I think I'll try to keep to only one, under 200-calorie snack per night. I'll add a bonus part called "NS" for "no snacks" for the days where I didn't eat any late-night snacks at…

I've been losing to myself this year, too lost to care enough to keep track of anything. But I'm still going to keep these challenges going! I'm proud of all of you for sticking with this. Even just doing that can be hard. New chalenge here!

@WinoGelato What are those long yellow things??

@deepwoodslady I'm glad that you're keeping such a positive attitude about everything even though it's not going quite as you had planned. With weight fluctuations though, you didn't actually "gain" 3 pounds overnight, and hopefully it'll go back down/stabilize. You got this, Donna! @CaliMomTeach Wow! 11 pounds in a month.…

100% bagels. I'm not a fan of doughnuts. Don't get me wrong, I am a pig who will eat anything, but donuts are one of the last things I'd choose when going for something sweet. Bagels on the other hand are one of the best things ever. I don't eat them often though because it's a lot of calories for something that I devour…

I'd try pretty much anything at least once, so long as it's legit, edible food. There's been discussion of cilantro in this thread. I only recently discovered I have that weird gene for it a few weeks ago. But it does not taste like soap to me. It tastes rotten/spoiled. I had it on a salad and I kept looking for bits that…

I don't recommend starting at 1200 calories right off the bat. Going so low for a long period of time can lower your metabolism and continued weight loss to be more difficult for you. Slow and steady wins the race! But when you pick a calorie amount that is right for you (whether that be 1300, 1800, or 2,000), then yes,…

And have you read the flowchart cmriverside posted? If you have, what spot do you get taken to?

Those diets, low carb, KETO, intermittent fasting, whatever it is... all of those work because of CICO. They may not be actually counting their calories when they use those diets, but if those diets work for them, it is because they are burning off more calories than they are taking in.
-
Well, certainly. I've lost 92 pounds by just doing CICO. I have had brief periods of exercise here and there, but all of that combined wouldn't count for more than 2 or 3 pounds at most. I was never consistent the times I exercised. I am 23.

Everyone in this thread is really making me want an air fryer now! @pinuplove Thank you for those suggestions! Thank you, this is all very neat to learn!
-
I'm not into fasting myself. As you said, it is CICO. It works for many people because they are taking in less calories than they are burning off. Some people don't realize this exactly, others do, some people fail with it, some succeed with it. One of my weight loss friends lost the majority of her weight through doing…

You know, for as hard as I was pondering this, the word "boiling" never once crossed my mind...What a big "duh" moment. How embarrassing. Thank you for your post!

@CaliMomTeach Level 5 at your weight is probably too much—it's harder to lose that much weight in that amount of time if you're not 200+ pounds. Also, you should not be eating under 1200 calories a day unless a doctor gave you the okay, but even then, I would say a second doctor's opinion would be best. You're working hard…

Challenge Starting Weight: 231 Challenge Level: 2 Challenge Goal weight: 221 February 2/1: 230.5 2/8: 233.2 - Seems frightening, but pretty sure this is just a regular weight fluctuation, I haven't been eating too bad lately.

So many people are way too quick to label things as a "disorder". Could calorie counting be a part of someone having an eating disorder? Absolutely. Does it mean that it is itself disordered eating? Absolutely not. It's circumstantial, as so many things are. For something to be labeled as a disorder, it must impair the…

I lost a lot of weight in 2019 (though things got rocky in the last few months). This year, I want to add exercise on top of my weight loss. Even just a little bit is better than none. I had a few short-lived moments of exercising last year, but this year I want it to be more solid and regular. And of course, I want my…
