Good luck, but be sure your 24 hour fast doesn't trigger a 24 hour binge. Often over restricting can bite you in the butt. Slow, steady and maintainable are key factors.

One thing I experimented with when I was in better shape than I am now is how much of the %BF on the scales for women is due to breast. It sounds silly, but I am short with a large chest. How long will it take to heal? Not exercising is a huge mental hurdle when you are accustomed to it. Be patient, and remember you aren't going to lose your fitness by taking a few weeks off. I'm sure the croissants are hard to resist. Hopefully next time he'll pick up fewer.
