Good luck, but be sure your 24 hour fast doesn't trigger a 24 hour binge. Often over restricting can bite you in the butt. Slow, steady and maintainable are key factors.

One thing I experimented with when I was in better shape than I am now is how much of the %BF on the scales for women is due to breast. It sounds silly, but I am short with a large chest. At my smallest I was 102 and a DD/DDD. My scale told me I was 26% BF, the scale at the PT also read in the mid 20s. I was really upset…

How long will it take to heal? Not exercising is a huge mental hurdle when you are accustomed to it. Be patient, and remember you aren't going to lose your fitness by taking a few weeks off. I'm sure the croissants are hard to resist. Hopefully next time he'll pick up fewer.

We need a little more info to give advice. How tall are you? What's your starting weight/current weight? How long have you been working this plan? How are you burning 2000cals a day (that's awfully high, possible, but high)? One thing that may play a role is that intense workouts break down muscle and muscles retain water…

Always room for one more. It's a very supportive group. Welcome! I'm Nikki, I'm 50 so not that far off from you, but no grand kiddos, just a grand puppy.

The port is in place, I just have to push the solutions in over a 5 minute time period for one and over a 10 minute time period for the other. With saline flushes between and heparin at the end. It wasn’t as bad as I feared. None of the local home health care places will work with out insurance.

Sorry about venting. I have every intention of being the best caretaker I can, I just worry it won’t be enough. He has always taken care of me so well, I just don’t want to let him down.

5# Challenge SW: 189.0 3/20: 187.0 3/21: 185.6 3/27: 187.6 3/29: 187.0 Good Friday! Tim is in good spirits, but is required to stay in the hospital over the weekend. Tim is out of surgery and is ok, but the bone was infected so we have a long haul ahead of us.

5# Challenge SW: 189.0 3/20: 187.0 3/21: 185.6 3/27: 187.6 Up early to get to the hospital. Got here at 8:30 got his nerve block around 9:45 and went back for surgery at 10:20. Things are moving pretty quickly. Doc says the screw didn't break, but the bone gave way around the screw. Now they need to figure out why. Worst…

When my children were very young (3months and 2.5yrs), my gym offered child care so I took advantage of it. It was healthy and it gave me a break to be a person other than mom for an hour or so. I did not restrict my diet because I was nursing, but I did make healthier choices and snack less. I started lifting and cycling.…

Well @TheMrWobbly I suppose you can do anything once. Just don't let this one time ruin you for years. If the IT band is tweaked I'd forgo another long run in favor of ice and rest. Then start your taper.

Exhaustion is what kills me... They have been slowly upping my dosage over the past 6 months, but as you say each adjustment is 6-8 weeks away. I sleep like 11 hours at night and need a nap after work. I teach spin classes (have for nearly 20 year), but struggle to make it through a class right now. THS is sitting at 7 to…

I've been on both ends of this conversation, super fit and super unhealthy and overweight. It's true that people aren't there to judge you. You must get that out of your head. Most of the fit folk are excited to see someone trying to improve themselves. It's also true that not everyone at the gym is svelte and tone. That…

5# Challenge SW: 189.0 3/20: 187.0 3/21: 185.6 3/27: 187.6 Good day yesterday. I did send out a few letters to lawyers concerning Tim's second surgery, but haven't heard back yet. Taught spin, but was a bit to knackered to actually perform the whole thing. Went to grocery and made dinner at home. Plan was to grill…

Ahhhh,.. the yoyo that is depression. Sounds like you are back in the land of the living again and ready to kick things into gear. Now you just gotta buckle down, log and watch the magic happen (sometimes slowly). I've lost and gained and found it hard to get back on board after depressive episodes. Try starting with a…

I hear you, but my metabolism didn't go down due to age. Its more my lowered activity level and muscle mass associated with the lifestyle I've settled into. When I get those back on track, I tend to do just fine even though I'm older now.
