I know how you feel - I am almost there! And it's been about that long I was under 250 as well. I am looking forward to weighing on Friday, for a change!

There are a lot of inspiring stories here. It does help to know one is not alone. I went to a friend's for supper yesterday, and I think I managed pretty well. I wasn't invited until after lunch, and I didn't really have the calories to be eating out where I had no idea what was on the menu. I tried to eyeball my portions,…

Welcome to all the new folks! I am having a pretty good week so far. Someone mentioned doing so well they thought they should maybe redo their goal for the month. I have thought of that, but then, what's a goal for? To meet or exceed, hopefully. Don't go changing the goalpost on yourself! If you exceed it by an unexpected…

Oh my goodness, ya forget to stop in and read for a couple days, and there's a ton of new posts! Welcome to all the newbies! My weigh in isn't for a couple days yet, but I do step on the scale most mornings as a motivator, and I am happy to say I am down a couple pounds. I am sure it was at least part water weight as I did…

I have been doing this too! I was going to mention that it was probably the only reason I stayed at about the same weight instead of going up! I was motivated by the sheer amount of dust I could see in certain places. I have done my bedroom and bathroom, and am about 3/4ths through my kitchen. I am hoping to have it all…

Mmm! love liver and onions, but too bad I can't cook it! LOL! My mom used to make it really well. Haven't had it for years.

As others have mentioned, pre planning meals is my biggest help. Someone also mentioned that no food is forbidden, which I agree with. You just have to plan to have it, whatever it is. Also, on occasions that I have really "blown" it, like having a full big bag of chips, I have realized that no, I don't need lunch as well…

I started to do this too because one of the first requests I got was from a really handsome, fit dude, who when I googled the image, is some poor fella whose picture has been stolen many times and used for scamming women on sites like this and dating sites. I am very wary of handsome fit dudes since being on another site…

@MuttiNM, so sorry to hear about your folks and covid. I know a family of 8 who have all got it. Started with the dad, then of course it went through the whole family. Dad is still in rough shape as are the two eldest daughters (16 & 17). Mom is somewhat recovered, which is good as they also have 4 littles, from 2 to 8…

Well, I am definitely NOT exercising more, so that's not it! and not sure how well I am doing about keeping the carbs lower, though I supposed just because I am eating less it would be a bit lower. That is interesting though about what your doctor said. I will keep that in mind!

Ahhh! I never thought of putting A1C as a goal. I think I shall add that forthwith. Last time, just a couple weeks ago, mine was 6.6, which is okay, the time before it was 6.5, so it went up, not sure why as I have been eating better but it may have been due to having a minor ongoing infection.

woo hoo! to all of us for being here. Gotta hang on to the good. Today started out good - got to meet with my former quilt group, small numbers though they are at this time. It was a fairly nice day, for the Great White North! Didn't end great - just found out they are coming down with the covid hammer again - pretty much…

Smaller plates. In my friends' holiday dish set, they wind up using the dinner plates and the salad plates because they have so many people over. I try to remember to grab one of the smaller plates because the same amount of food on the bigger plate doesn't look like much! It really makes a difference for me, and if I get…

To lose 5 more lbs. by Christmas, which will make it 25 lbs since Sept. 30. That's a pretty modest goal, but usually I gain in December! The only good thing about covid is that the usual Christmas gatherings that I attend have either been cancelled or will be bring your own food so I will be able to control what I eat…

I went to a bariatric clinic for a while (long story, did not have surgery) and the dietician and psychologist there were very helpful in this regard. They both told us all (there were a few classes with groups of people) that none of the calorie counters are 100% accurate anyway. They pointed out that if you look at the…
