I don’t know, virtual friends can be just as much of a motivation factor or a boost when you’re in a slump. Most of us are in this app because were focused on health, nutrition, weight loss, etc. Like anything else, just be careful sharing too much personal info.

This app has been glitchy lately. You’re supposed to be able to tap on the “friend +” icon and add friends, but that rarely works for me. Lately I’ve had to remember MFP usernames, click out of the current thread, tap on the friends section and then either click the “+” sign, or tap on requests. When you tap on requests,…

You’ve got this! One step at a time... You’ve read the suggestions. For me, I automatically ate more when I drank alcohol. And I’d drink a bottle of wine at dinner without a second thought, because it was only 3-4 glasses. But it wrecked my sleeping soundly! My snoring increased and I developed sleep apnea, along with my…

Yep! Lost a ton, gained back two tons (at least 100 lbs) after an injury that kept me flat for over a year. I’m not disabled, but I can feel your frustration. Calorie counting has worked for me along with this awesome community! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need to vent. It’s all good...

Welcome back! I’ve been on that roller coaster before too, and hopefully we’ll stay on that downslope for good!

Great job on the 90 pounds! Congratulations!!! If it’s specifically for swimming, try looking into a local dive shop for a thin wetsuit. They should have some that you could try on. Look for something made by Henderson, they offer a little more “give” in their products. Or maybe a plain Under Armour shirt would do the…

Numbers are misleading, in my opinion. I’m 6’2”, and several years ago I dropped down to 197 lbs. The charts still said I needed to be closer to 180. I don’t think you need to justify anything to anyone. Be you! We’re all in this together...

I had a great day today! 18 mile bike ride, cut the grass, pulled some weeds... And it poured two hours after I finished! 😜

Almonds, usually a handful or three on the drive home from work. It usually depends on how hungry I am, what traffic looks like, and how busy I was at work. I always keep my water bottle handy as well, in case it’s actually dehydration I’m sensing and not hunger.

Enjoy your vacation! Post pictures when you get back... Have a blast and make a ton of memories! I wouldn’t stress too much about what people think, but that’s me.

I’m following this thread because my daughter has been diagnosed with FND (Functional Neurological Disorder), and POTS (Postural Tachycardia Syndrome). She is in constant pain (similar to fibromyalgia), but it affects her differently. What I have learned from taking her to Mayo Clinic is that this may become a lifelong…

So many great suggestions on here! I’d also look into Cannon Beach in Oregon (especially if you’re a Goonies fan). A lot of tide pools for the kids to explore. I would also highly recommend taking a trip to the Olympic Peninsula. First Beach, Second Beach, Ruby Beach... Some of my favorites! You’ll park and usually have…

I’ll join y’all! 47, recovering from an injury I suffered as a firefighter. But that was 10 years ago and ancient history now. My immediate goal is to drop back under 300, with my secondary goal of being comfortable in my wetsuit so I can dive again on a regular basis. I’m traveling a lot for work so I get some cardio in…

I travel a lot too. I keep my water bottle filled after I get through security at the airport, that helps me avoid being tempted to buy pop or sugar juices (plus airports charge a ton of money for that stuff). I also keep a bag of almonds handy for when I do feel like snacking. I usually grab some yogurt and a banana or…

Thanks!!!

Elphie, I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad tragically in ‘09, and I was so numb, I’d forget to eat. And when I did eat, it was just because I was going through the motion. One day at a time. One foot in front of the other. You have family that love and support you, and an online family that is sending out love,…

I’m usually out the door by 4am, hour long commute, work, longer commute home thanks to traffic, eat, sleep, wake up, repeat. I’m trying to work out more on the weekend, but I tend to catch up on my sleep. I’m looking into some gyms closer to work to maybe get a workout in after work to help that traffic thin out a bit.

Starting back myself. An injury and feeling sorry for myself tacked my weight back on. You know the old story, once out of the habit, it’s all downhill. But don’t worry, we’re in it together!

Thank you all for the fantastic ideas! You’re right, it’s about making time for me... I’m an instructor for the railroad, so my “kids” vary in age, but I do look forward to the days I’m out in the railyard with them. I force them to walk everywhere! We do get free gym membership through work at several locations, so I…

I’ve been getting into Twiddle lately. You can’t go wrong with The Grateful Dead. If you’re a band geek, search out marching bands! Then you can relive your glory days on the field while you’re on the treadmill. Michigan State put out Sesame Street and Mister Roger’s Neighborhood that are in regular rotation. System of a…

Sorry, hadn’t had coffee yet.

I’m looking into getting a Vivo3, what model are you using? Or does it matter?

Wow! It’s like I’m reading a little bit of my history in almost every post! I heroically tore my ACL back in ‘08 by slipping off my fire truck during a water rescue. I had two doctors, drama, it was a mess. Long story short, put on a ton of weight (easily over 100 lbs), felt pretty sorry for myself, and that didn’t help.…

I’m a technical training instructor and my classes are 9 hrs long (I give them an hour for lunch), and I commute at least an hour each way depending on traffic. I’ve been drinking about a gallon of water a day, and when I do snack, it’s usually some almonds I keep in the car for the drive home. My Dad was a music teacher…

SCUBA was an awesome stress reliever for me. I was a volunteer diver at the aquarium and just loved blowing bubbles on a weekly basis. It was better than therapy, not to mention the occasional interaction with some incredible animals. Obviously, that would require proper training and not a way for everyone to relieve…

Peter Draws is pretty random... For a podcast. Look him up on YouTube, and you’ll find the same thing as his podcast, but he’ll draw over the vocals. It’s pretty chill... I listen to Hardcore History on long car drives. Some of them are about 6 hours long!

For a quick beach read at the airport, I’ll read anything by Tim Dorsey. All his mysteries are based in Florida, and the serial killer is the hero! Fun times!

It’s hard to deal with the loss and proper eating habits. I won’t even say control. Sometimes you don’t feel like eating anything at all, and the next thing you know you’re inhaling food like there’s no tomorrow. And the loss of a fur baby is just as tough, if not tougher in some respects. One day at a time. Don’t beat…
