  • I'm 4 weeks away from my vacation and 8 weeks away from a friend's wedding. I would like to lose 3 pounds and 6 pounds respectively, so that I'll be under 185 for the vacation and at 180 for the wedding. Additionally, I am 12 pounds away from a "healthy" BMI and 21 pounds away from my goal weight. I'd like to lose those 12…
  • @Alatariel75 At 9AM, it's about 85F/29C with 65% humidity. Humidity makes it feel like 90F/32C. I can do low intensity stuff - walking, yard work, etc - in that heat, but not running.
  • It's too hot and humid to workout outside, so I decided I was going to run on the treadmill in the apartment gym. Only problem? When I walked in, all the treadmills had been sprayed down with disinfectant, INCLUDING the track. I was not about to break a bone on that obvious safety hazard, so I went over to the front office…
  • Softball game got rained out. Glad I walked this morning, so I got some activity in. Still planning on going out to eat (meal 2 of 3, with Sunday being 3 of 3), but I will skip the kid's sized milkshake. lol.
  • Goal is to lose 6.5+ pounds in 9 weeks so that I'm under 180 by a friend's wedding.
  • @Alatariel75 @CupcakeCrusoe I'm going to a 4 day music festival. So it's going to be mostly fried food. lol. But they said there would be vegetarian options, so I'm hoping vegetarian = actual vegetables. One of the four days, there's really only one band I'm interested in, so depending on when they are playing, my friend…

  • I went to a military friend's promotion ceremony today, where none of our mutual friends could make it. He was the only person I knew, and I felt really confident about my appearance DESPITE the zit on the side of my nose. Like, I saw my reflection and felt really good about it. Like, everyone else in our group was in…
  • Hey everyone! So, due to trying to eat healthier and keep to a budget, I only allow myself to "eat out" (including drive throughs/fast food) 3 meals out of 21 a week. Sunday lunch is one of those 3 meals, so my weight always jumps up a little on Monday morning due to sodium and water retention. Additionally, today a buddy…

  • My Apple Watch band fits snugly on the last hole/smallest setting with the extra length of band tucked into it. My belt fits comfortably on the second to last hole, and I can squeeze into the last hole. This is the belt I bought this year because the old one was too big!
  • I walked up and down 3 flights of stairs with little to no pain! (Strained my quad something awful playing softball. Tried this after a day of resting, icing, etc). My apartment has no elevator.
  • @bojaantje3822 Congrats on your competition! And thank you for your kind words. I wasn't expecting that much of a difference either! I've gone down about 2.5 dress sizes, but my figure is pretty hourglass, so I don't expect to go down more than another 2. I'm just glad my boobs aren't lost in my abdominal fat anymore. I…
  • Picture time! The yellow vest pictures are from a concert one year ago tomorrow. The gray t-shirt photos are from this afternoon (relatively same time of day as the year old pictures). 55.5 pounds difference.
  • I messed up BIG time. Dog crawled under my bed. In the past, she has tried to eat out the underside of my box spring. So, I immediately drop to my knees to pull her out from underneath the bed and searing pain shot up both of my thighs. Some of the worst pain I have ever experienced. Sister is a physical therapist, so I…

  • I'm a bit confused about the fact there are people on here not tracking their calories. Now, I don't believe that counting calories is the ONLY way to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle, but MFP's main app is centered around being a food diary, which tracks calories amongst other things. Maybe someone is a healthy…
  • Part of my perception of my size was based on the people around me. I'm a moderately tall, broad shouldered woman at 5'10", so a size 18 (my largest) looked a lot different on me than on someone half a foot shorter than me. When I was nearly 250 pounds, I didn't shy away from saying I was obese or saying how much I…
  • It appears I have strained both of my quads which means no running, squats, or other things that can strain them further. Which also means no softball tomorrow.

  • Also! The medium shirt fit perfectly. My mind is blown that I’m a size medium in t-shirts. I mean, it’s a unisex tee, but still…
  • About a month ago, I signed up for an intramural softball league and had to pick a size for a unisex tee. I optimistically picked a medium because “I should be a medium by then.” After a month of the scale not moving, I got the shirt minutes before our first game. I started to hesitate because there was no time to trek to…
  • We won our softball game last night! I was the catcher, so lots of squatting. Lol. Even managed to score a run! @CupcakeCrusoe I’ve admittedly not been to this gym enough to know. I work in a satellite office and this is the gym at the main office. A TON of military veterans work at my company, so- from what I heard from…
  • I know I shouldn't make excuses. My apartment gym with dumbbells is where I have been going. There is a really nice gym I'm free to use... 20 minutes down the road. It's about halfway between home and work, but it's so much faster to just do stuff at home so I don't have to get off the beaten path. Maybe once the pup gets…
  • I second the "walk your dog early in the morning and at dusk: suggestion. How "easy" are the 10 pound dumbbells for you? If they seem light, there try some tricep curls or inverted rows. I use my couch as a bench, put one knee and one arm up on it so my torso is parallel with the ground and I'm facing down, and I pull the…

  • So I talked to my roommate this morning. She rightly pointed out she would not have offered to lend her clothes if she was not happy to do so. She also said she was happy and proud of my progress, and she had just gotten past a recent slump in her weight loss journey, so she was feeling pretty optimistic anyway. Lastly,…
  • 1 mile warm up walk post breakfast. Warms up my limbs, I get to enjoy nature, chat with my walking buddy, bond with my dog, then I drop my dog off at my apartment, knowing she's already used the restroom, and head to the gym. It gives me 20-30 minutes to digest AND puts me into a workout mentality.
  • Nerdy perspective here. You know how during the training montage in any action-y show or movie, the hero is completely drenched in sweat? I embrace the sweat and the "action hero training montage" mind set. Also positive affirmations like, "Sweat is weakness leaving the body," to twist a common Marine Corps phrase. They…
