Your commitment to health has really paid off, and you're setting a great example for that sweet little one... that's just awesome!! Well done!

Great work!!

A few years ago, I bought a dinnerware set: the large plates were literally so big that my cupboards wouldn't shut properly! I read somewhere here on MFP that humans are not good at knowing how big a container (or plate) is, but that we are great at telling when a container (or plate) is full... so smaller plates for me…

There was a thread a few years ago that talks about this, and links to some articles. Its very interesting! Turns out that diet breaks are actually a really great strategy for long term weight loss. Here is the original thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10604863/of-refeeds-and-diet-breaks/p1…

I like to focus on the long game (I'm down 60lbs, have about 50lbs to go). Create a vision of yourself 5 years from now, what does that person look like, how does that person spend their time, what might health and fitness look like. How can you build to that vision, bit by bit. If you have a lot to lose, you may want to…

Awesome approach and awesome results! Congrats on all your hard work and commitment paying off!

Something to consider: if you did have had children, is it possible that you had diastasis recti (ab separation)? It's possible that it never fully healed, especially if it was undetected. Bodyfit By Amy has a great playlist about it on youtube that offers great explanations as well as great exercises to improve it. These…

For diastasis recti, and for the stomach vacuum exercise, I have found Bodyfit by Amy (youtube) to be a really great resource. She has great education, great credentials, has an entire playlist for diastasis recti, and is able to explain things really well. It definitely helped me a lot, both for appearance and function /…

Amazing! Well done!!

Jog/running is so much fun! I started while very overweight, with a program similar to couch-to-5k (it started more slowly but built to a longer end run). I actually did each of the first 8 weeks of the program twice before I'd move on to the next, first time to basically not die, second time to focus on form. Now I…

I currently take an iron supplement, but I do so only because a doctor ordered it, and I routinely go for more tests so that I don't end up taking it if I get back to normal. There are a lot of supplements / vitamins that don't do much harm if you take them without needing them, but iron isn't one of them. It can do a LOT…

In addition to trying different beans etc, add the tiniest pinch of salt to the grounds (especially for "not the highest quality since I'm on a budget" type beans). Makes huge difference!

5'10" female here! Yep! You will absolutely be able to notice it, both in the way you look and the way you feel. Even 10 pounds, while tricky to see (especially for a tall female), makes a big difference. Take a sack of potatoes or a 10 pound weight and carry it around for an hour... it helps you feel the difference. If…

Bodyfit by Amy! She has many workouts that are challenging, but even better she has really great instructional and early beginner workouts. All on youtube. I would recommend just working through the beginner playlist, I really enjoyed it!

@shanaber He's a Bernese Mountain dog, crossed with Akbash. He is a sweet, lovable, giant (133lb) doofus of a dog that loves snacks and pets and snowbanks. At 50F / 10C he jumps into every pond and swamp he can find! @kgirlhart 18F / -7C is cold for sure! What boggles my mind is the idea of running in a Texas summer.…

In addition to what everyone else is saying, is it possible that the machine is tracking kilojoule and not kilocalories / calories? 704 kilojoules would be 168.26 calories. While still off, it's a bit more realistic. The elliptical machine that my parents have tracks energy in kilojoules, but I haven't seen many others…

Amazing commitment and amazing work! Congratulations!!

I'm in AB too! The sunshine and blue skies is making me happy, but I miss outside. Definitely too cold to run! My dog really loves the cold (its hard to get him to come inside when he's happily lying in a snowbank in -20C), and today for the first time ever he didn't want to go for a walk. I'm excited for this cold snap to…

Amazing work and amazing commitment! Congratulations!!

Congrats on your continuing commitment! That's so great, and so inspiring!!

Hi! If you are able to, see a physiotherapist (I know physiotherapy is governed differently in different countries, I would see a physio over a doctor in this case if it was me, but YMMV). They will be able to tell you the problem, come up with a treatment plan, and give you strengthening exercises to help fix it. Rest is…

@shanaber I'm in Canada :) There's beautiful bright blue skies here today, and the sun is shining, the snow is blindingly bright... and when you stand in the sunlight of a window its so warm and lovely. But then you step outside and the breath is robbed from your lungs. Its a frigid one for sure. Forecast for tonight is…

Hi! Welcome to MFP! You're here, and you're ready for a change, that's wonderful :) There is plenty of amazing advice on the forums, each topic has some "most helpful posts" threads, and if you have time (I'm sure life is busy with a 2 year old!) they are really great to read. It's intimidating to start, but you can do…
