  • My wish would be not to have to use insulin, but they may just not be possible, since diabetes is a progressive disease. I'm on meds right now, and can eventually try an injectable like Trulicity. My other wish is to continue to lose weight and get better control my diabetes. Keep on exercising rfsatar, look for more…
  • Hi rfsatar and welcome. I must confess that I didn't know enough about T1.5 diabetes and looked it up. I had read about it once in a while, it appears to be kinda rare? I like to eat a variety of foods, but I'm ever mindful of those carbs. This is a nice size group, about the size of a diabetes support group, which we…
  • I try not to start again another day, I pickup where I left off. If I over ate for lunch, I pickup better eating for dinner. This way I don't eat everything from the overeating episode until I restart. You can do this, you've already had past successes.
  • I eat three meals a day and a snack at mid-morning. There are a couple of days a month I wake up starving, too. I eat breakfast and I'm not satisfied, so I keep eating trying to fill the hunger void. I don't know if hormones are pushing this, it would be something to check into. So many things drive the hunger mechanism.…
  • When I got the diagnosis on Valentine's Day, I was crushed! Not only was I embarassed by the word diabetes, I was going to be judged. This was going to be a red flag for my insurance company to contact me with offers of help. They got in touch with me in a week, how's that for fast response time?
  • I got my new A1C back from the doctor, it's 6.9. It may seen a little high but it's below 7.0 which is what the doctor wanted. I ashamed to say it was 10.2 a year ago, astronomical to say the least. I've changed my diet and am watching my carbs. Exercise is iffy. Because of my age the doctor thinks the gym is not the…
  • I can't afford bariatric surgery and my at my age, I'm not putting myself through it. All the people I know who had the surgery (5 of them) have regained their weight and their stomachs have stretched to their bigger weights. I'm doing it the old-fashioned way, cutting calories, exercise and writing it all down. I haven't…
  • It's getting harder and harder in our neighborhood to find trick or treaters. Giving away "things" instead of candy might be the answer. Heaven knows, I'll eat the candy if they don't.
  • I had no success when I didn't track what I ate and when. I got a notebook and faithfully log everything I need. Believe me, I now feel accountable for doing it. The entries will tell you a lot about how much and when you eat. If not a notebook, try the log on the website. It'll be a pain in the beginning but with…
  • Boy, I'm old-fashioned. I just use a medium size notebook for my tracking of carbs and calories. I also put in my blood sugar readings and my weight and sometime notes if there are problems. I like it because I can carry it with me when I go out of town. I tend to forget what I've eaten sometimes, so I write it down soon…
  • I everyone, I've been looking for a small diabetes support group--you can get lost in some of those big ones. I was diagnosed at 60 with diabetes type 2. I should haven't ignored the symptoms of the prediabetes, after all, there is no diabetes in our family, lucky me! I look forward to any help you can share.
