That’s a good idea. Thanks. Husband has been treated for IBS and colitis. Veggies are okay if they are cooked to death. Frankly, I think he needs to introduce veggies a little at a time and increase his tolerance for the fiber. But he’s been told by doctors to improve his diet and hasn’t. I can’t make him do it.
-
I’d like to get him to eat healthier too. But part of my issue is that I need to find a way to get some other way to get protein. At least I think that’s the issue. The small portions of what he is eating and the focus on high volume low cal vegetables seems to leave me hungry. I’ve even been lightheaded a couple of times.…

I love broccoli, steamed or roasted. Green beans are a favorite. The frozen ones are best. You can put a pat of butter on a big bowl and get a lot of flavor for a relatively small amount of calories. You can throw frozen peas into some pasta dishes. Try frozen peas frozen as a snack. They are cold snd sweet. Sweet potatoes…

I have a daughter who has gastroparesis and is unable to eat regular foods at times. She tried Huel and didn’t care for it. She did much better on Kates Farm. Obviously, her needs are different as her effort was to get enough calories, not to lose weight. Kates Farm is also vegan. She is dairy intolerant and so many of the…

HASFIT has workouts for seniors, people with mobility issues, and obese people. I do a chair workout almost every day. They’re on YouTube . I highly recommend that you try one. I started with a 20 minute one and have moved to a 30 minute routine.
-
30 minute chair exercise for seniors, obese, and people with limited mobility plus 12 minute stretch routine for lower back pain. Both HASFIT. I know the stretch routine won’t help with weight loss but it would be nice to wake up without my low back hurting.

Thank you for this discussion. I tried to make lefse for my dad once. He was from Minnesota and had fond childhood memories of his Norwegian grandmother making lefse on a wood burning stove. My attempt was almost inedible. Dad’s gone now but maybe I’ll try again in his honor.

I had no idea I was creating a controversy with my question. We all want to be healthy.

P. S. My last surgery was actually an ankle surgery. I had bone Spurs removed. The bone Spurs are a result of arthritis and wear caused by a prior mid foot fusion back in the 1980s.
-
Foot surgeries are tough. Please do all the physical therapy assigned. I didn’t do it as well as I should have with my last surgery and I’m still playing catch-up.

I’m quite sedentary. I have a bum foot and ankle and have pain when I walk or stand. That’s one of my main motivations for losing weight. Less weight=less pain = more mobility = more activity = less pain = more activity = less weight. At this point, my activity level is very light, and my exercise is a chair exercise…
-
Thanks. I’ve moved toward trying to get close to the base calories.
-
Send me a request please. I’ve had multiple foot surgeries. Let’s encourage each other.

Thanks

Thank you. I was confused partly because I get a post saying my diary was under the calorie goal, so I thought that was a good thing. I lost a pound and a half last week so I’m not looking for or getting a rapid weight loss.
-
I double checked and I did enter that I wanted to lose one pound a week. And MFP gave me the 1290 calorie count.
-
I’m 5’4”, currently weigh 197 pounds Want to lose 50 pounds. I am logging exercise and those calories log to my diary.

I like an English muffin, toasted with one egg for breakfast. I beat the egg in a little bowl and microwave it 37 seconds. I have a bowl that is just the right size so the egg comes out the size of the English muffin. Breakfast for under 200 calories. Beans for lunch. I’m not crazy about canned beans, but I cook a batch…
-
Thanks. I believe that I did choose 1 pound a week. I appreciate all the clarification.
-
Ok. Thank you. I have been eating more if I got the alert and going back into my diary and logging the additional food.
-
I think MFP set that calorie goal. And I thought that the goal was to come in below it. Not by a lot.
-
Thank you. My calorie budget is 1290, and I’m trying to come in below that every day. I have a very narrow range to fit into. :)

My husband hasn’t shaved since Christmas either. He has a good full beard and it looks okay, but it’s scratchy. He says he’s going to shave it off and I’m okay with that. Now his mustache has to stay. We’ve been married 30 years and I’ve never seen him without the stache.

This post is spot on. I was going to lose weight by my niece’s wedding. I was going to lose weight by my daughter’s wedding. I’d like to lose weight by my 63rd birthday in August. My goal right now is to lose 10 pounds and appreciate it. That will be 20% of my desired loss. Then my next goal will be to lose another 5…

HASfit chair exercise videos (free on YouTube) are helping me. My issue is different as I have chronic pain from as old foot ankle injury (crushed heel bone).
-
That’s a great idea. I’ve got something in a cart that I haven’t purchased. I can make myself wait until I meet a goal. Thanks.
-
Thanks. I was thinking that once you create the habit of fewer calories that a splurge might lead down a slippery slope.

Thanks. Great words everyone. And yes, from previous weight losses, I know that I lose more in the first week or so and then it slows way down. Maybe that’s the body’s way of saying keep going.
