All of your qualities are "redeeming!" You may want to lose weight, and I do, too, but that doesn't diminish your value, your light. You may be different now than you were in the past, and that is ok! Set a new standard for yourself that makes you feel good, and from there, work towards what you want. You can do this!…

I just wanted to offer support. I am 42 and at my heaviest weight. I've always been fit but now that I am trying to lose weight I find it is completely different than it was in previous decades. I embrace the change and the challenge of learning what my body is like now. I know that I will reach my goal. I am focused on…

My husband, who is sedentary and just started weight training and walking, feels exhausted after lifting. He lifts what I think are too heavy for him but he does use proper form -- I make sure of it. He is kind of an all-or-nothing guy and mistakenly believes that he's got to go hard or go home every time. Fitness and…

I hear you! Gaining tools to deal with stress is very important. A lot of it for me, has been experimenting with what works and doesn't. Sometimes what works will be situational, so learning to be flexible and adaptable is very key. Finally, I would say that sometimes feeling the stress rather than always running from it…

Well done, sir!

This has been a constant thing for me for more than 20 years. Sometimes it's incredibly scary. I have had every test done by doctors. Eventually, I just had to move into a mental space in which I could remain calm when my body felt like it was *kitten* down or dying. Meditation and metaphysical musings has been my primary…

Great advice above! Make sure that you give yourself time to stretch fully before a workout. Also, start small. Use lighter weights, work your way up to fuller cardio sessions, etc.

Jogging and running has always been hard for me, even when I have been incredibly fit. My body responds really well to strength training. I am built like a muscly meatball and my body thrives on that kind of workout. Running is high impact and seems to affect my body negatively, but other cardio is ok, like aerobics or…

The only ritual I try to do consistently now is stretching before working out. In my younger years I would mostly stretch at the end of a workout. But now I see the need to do a thorough stretch before every workout.

Making small, manageable changes in your life right now would be good. Try discovering some new interests or hobbies. Make small changes and I think you will see results. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed.

Great news! Good for you!

I have a herniated disc in my low back and I have to rest...and I just finished putting together a new home gym space, which I can't use right now. Crying over here.

My goal is five but I usually get in 4 days.

Actually, this sounds familiar. I know many people who feel as if they are in a rut since the pandemic. It has been a shift and like all shifts, those who can adapt with change have come out feeling most successful. Old routines may no longer resonate, but I think that people will begin to find new routines. Just give…

Sounds good! I am a personal trainer and professor of English, and mom of one, who has been on a fitness journey for several decades.

Some groups are inactive, but there are usually new posts daily on the broad forums in MFP, like this one in which you posted. I have found that a good way to get friends and support on the app is to search the forums with keywords for your goals or interests and reading through the threads and requesting anyone who posted…

We love board games in this house. My favorite is any tabletop role playing fantasy games, like D&D or Pathfinder

Hugs to you. Give yourself some space for this situation; it's heavy. The situation is heavy and that is reflected in your body, and that makes sense, it's is ok for now as you adjust to this difficult change. It's a lot to take on, and your energy is being called to things outside of yourself right now. That's not easy…

You have big goals, and what may be helpful is to break some of these goals down into smaller parts. Maybe sit down and journal out what you mean by "reducing stress," to start. Which stressors cause you the most problem? What are some micro-goals that you can set for yourself that are achievable to address each specific…

Oooh! I have actually just bought one for a home gym I am currently building in my garage. I don't put my car in the garage, though, so the mat situation will be different. I might look for a mat that can repel oil and water.
