I am really enjoying CHRISTMAS IN THE CASTLE LIBRARY by Ann Swindell. Several people on the CF facebook page that I follow were calling it one of the best of 2024. It wasn't available on any of my library applications until this week. It takes place in a fictional country in Europe, and a Queen ran off leaving a short note…

We had our choice between Spectrum and Google. I already outlined the issues we had with Spectrum's set up, so google is working well for us. I wasn't changing my cell phone company, just getting an extra line (free). I thought this would be nice to use like a landline...an extra phone in the house. I realized that I had a…

I love bargains! When we moved we had a chance for a bundle...free phone line and internet at a pretty good price. I spent over an hour on the phone getting things set up then they kept telling me that they had to send everything to the house BEFORE we would own the house...they wouldn't budge, so I told them to forget it.…

We changed our plan a few years ago. We were with Verizon, but couldn't get good coverage at Mom's when she lived in Missouri. She had one of our phones, and she had to walk outside and to the end of the drive to use it. Everyone there said the only company with good coverage was ATT, so I went with Consumer Cellular on…

Current: WHEN THE AVALANCHE ROARED by Lauralee Bliss. This is a novel about a huge avalanche in Wellington, Washington in 1910. It's good, but I'm sure it's going to get tense when the avalanche actually happens - pretty soon, I'm sure. Right now, I am able to check out 38 books a month on hoopla. Bill has a library card…

I just finished a couple books and decided to go ahead and close out January. With all of the bad weather, I read a LOT of books. Finished: FACE OF DANGER by Valerie Hansen THE SOLDIER’S NEWFOUND FAMILY by Kathryn Springer I'm not 100% sure where I will go from here. I have a bunch of books checked out, plus KU, so I just…

Bill walked 60 ft today! The PT said that he thought it would be okay for me to get him up and walking around the living room, but not 60 ft. without the wheelchair behind him. When they have him walking distances, they hold his gait belt and I follow with the wheel chair in case he gets weak or starts to wobble.

Cindy - hope the travel goes well. Surely the weather will be better than the last trip! You might miss those private flights, though.

Oh....good book!

Glad you had something at home to use, and it helped! I had a day today! Bill's daughter was staying with him and I took my mom to the dentist. Bill was determined he was getting up and going to the bathroom and she called me frantic. Luckily they were done with mom so I wound up taking her home with me to get Bill to the…

Oh my! I just listened to a really powerful book. It was the novelization of the movie THE FORGE. You guys may have seen the movie (Kendrick Bros), but I just don't watch them. This is the followup to THE WAR ROOM. Both novelizations are written by Chris Fabry, and are powerful books on intercessory prayer, and trusting…

I'm listening to HEART ON THE LINE by Karen Witemeyer and THE FORGE by Chris Fabry. I'm not far into the Fabry book. I was reading in the Witemeyer series and this one happened to be audio, so I'm actually doing 2 audiobooks at once.

Cindy - I have been out of the industry for too long! I am going through the same thing and can't find what I used in the past. I am thinking that maybe a conditioner that might be used as a rinse out or leave in might be good. I have used Sally Beauty's Generic of Nexxus Humectress in the past and it worked well. I have a…

This snow has pretty much battered the south! I'm glad that we didn't get more. We got subzero temps a few nights, but no more snow. It is supposed to warm up into the high 40s this weekend, so hope to see some of the ice in our yard melt. The snow is pretty much gone on the grass, but where the plowing was done, and the…

I really enjoyed CLOAKED IN BEAUTY by Karen Witemeyer. I also finished AUNT CRETE’S EMANCIPATION by Grace Livingston Hill. Of course, this was for a challenge "classic CF". Current: BLUEBIRD ON THE PRAIRIE by Tasha Hackett - this is for the prompt "bird on cover". It has lots of little birds in the background, I figure…

Kim & Carole, did you guys get snow? A lot of my friends that live in the south have been sending pictures. I saw that Myrtle Beach has snow, Gulf Shores (7 inches), Mobile Alabama has quite a bit, New Orleans, and several areas of Georgia.

I am listening to a book that is a breath of fresh air. I so needed a light read that was totally different than the ones I had been reading. CLOAKED IN BEAUTY by Karen Witemeyer -historical based on Little Red Riding Hood...and it fits one of the challenges that I am trying to fill. I would like to have the 50 book…

Whew - I got into two heavy books. THE YEAR OF GOODBYES AND HELLOS by Kelly Irvin - Deals with an Oncologist and her sister winds up with stage 4 cancer. Really hard family relationships and cancer. I thought I needed something lighter, so started.... COMING HOME AGAIN by T I Lowe. This deals with family relationships and…

I found 2 that weren't free....I'm sure that it was an error, because they were all supposed to be free. It was a fun few minutes looking through them, anyway.

I have one more of Rachelle McCalla's books to read in a different series. These are the only ones available from any of the library applications that I have. I finished WHO TOUCHES THE MOUNTAINS by Deborah Raney. I always love her books. I also finished a couple books by a new to me author: THE LAVENDER THIEF by Elysian…

I have a quick prayer request today. My pastor was supposed to have hip replacement surgery this week and when he got there, his BP was high and there was a glitch they were detecting in his heart. They postponed the surgery due to this. My pastor is almost 71, but fit and youthful in his looks, diet, and outlook. This…

For the last several years I have had a word of the year, and done a lot of weekly and monthly studies on that subject. Last year it was "Strength" because I have to be strong to take care of my husband. Keeping the spiritual strength was key to keeping my physical strength. This year I decided on taking a bit of a…

I was reading a post by Carol Moncado on facebook about Royal Romances. I always enjoy her books and have read all of them. She also talked about Rachelle McCalla's Love Inspired Suspense books that are about royals and their "secret service" type security. I am almost to the end of the third book that hoopla had in…

The wound care nurse was a gift from God! He is great with Bill and has the place 90% healed. He really doesn't do anything anymore, just check it and put a little salve on it, that I already do at least twice a day. All I had to do was tell him what was happening and he said, okay, you are using the wrong salve and by…

I just finished one that I can't believe I had missed. I usually try to read Melody Carlson's book as I see them released, but this one snuck by me. HOME SWEET TINY HOME by Melody Carlson Current: SCENT OF DANGER by Laura Scott LAWFULLY ADORED by Jenna Brandt I really goofed on these. They are both K9 search and rescue and…

Thanks, I got one. The other I already had.

Carole - I have enjoyed all of the Elizabeth Camden books that I have read. I read WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS in April of 2024. I gave it 4*, which for me says that I liked it, but it wasn't incredible. I am still doing Christmas books - I really do them year around, so that's no surprise. Current: An Evergreen Christmas…
