I'm working on the Saddle Springs series by Valerie Comer. I am also reading ALASKA MOUNTAIN ATTACK by Sarah Varland (LIS).0
-
I got through the first 3 books in Valerie Comer's Saddle Springs series. I will get to the next three soon. I have the boxed set checked out on KU.
Now I am listening the the Kennedy Sterns series by Alexa Verde. I want to read book 6 for a reading challenge, but didn't want to pick up the series that late. I am on book 3 right now. They are okay, but not particularly great. She gets in all kinds of problems, though. I will probably quit after reading book 6 and not go all the way to book 9.
I still haven't finished DEFENDING MY FATHER’S HOUSE by Anne Perrault. I need to get back to it.

WooHoo - I finished DEFENDING MY FATHER’S HOUSE by Anne Perrault. It wasn't really a HEA, but I was afraid of sad and though there were definitely sad parts, it was a very good book. Of course, it is written about a family in Germany with the husband and sons in the military during WW2. It is from a Christian German's viewpoint. There is a second one that I will probably pick up sometime after I get done with these challenges.0

I really like Elizabeth Camden.
I am re-listening to: WILLIAM CAREY biography
also listening to SQUIRE OF TRUTH by Jill Williamson, a fantasy.
Reading: FALCON HEART by Azalea Dabill, a medieval fantasy
Still working on LEGACY OF ROSES by Melanie Cellier, fantasy
I finished OF STORMLARKS AND SILENCE by Constance Lopez, fantasy
Finished WORTH FIGHTING FOR by Pegg Thomas, Early American, Revolutionary War
Barely into APPALACIAN SONG by Michelle Shocklee
Reading FREEDOM'S PRICE by Pegg Thomas
On the second book in A MOST CONVENIENT MARRIAGE and multi-author anthology, and so far the first two have been very good (although the second book had an uncomfortable part)
Still working on THE LETTER, not sure this one will get finished though.0 -
I am finished with the first 6 books in Alexa Verde's Kennedy Stern series. It is just not an easy series at all. These all are things that happen to a Pre-Med student within the first 2 years.....Too much!! I am definitely not anxious to finish the last 3, but want to finish it, too.
Book 1 - kidnapping,
Book 2 - PTSD,
book 3 - police racial profiling and abuse - and HIV
book 4 - homosexuality - and I really don't like the way it was handled. One minister in it was a bit too liberal, and another was struggling to handle with love.
book 5 - hijacking of airplane
book 6 - epidemic and death - This is the one I needed to read for a reading challenge, but the others went into the challenge, too.

Wow, that is pretty deep stuff! No matter what the sin, God loves the one lost to that darkness and died to set them free - we always have to keep that in mind so we are willing to share light with them in love and kindness, but we never have to accept what God rejects, the sin.
I'm still working on the books I mentioned before. Almost done with the William Carey bio.0 -
I finished Elizabeth Camden's WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS. Her strength is historical detail, and NYC of 1913 was fascinating. I enjoyed it overall, but one theme was connected to the Mafia, which I don't care for. Camden handled it well, though. Not sure what I'll read next. I got Melody Carlson's A ROYAL CHRISTMAS through Hoopla, so I should read it before it expires.0
-
Carole - I have enjoyed all of the Elizabeth Camden books that I have read. I read WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS in April of 2024. I gave it 4*, which for me says that I liked it, but it wasn't incredible.
I am still doing Christmas books - I really do them year around, so that's no surprise.
Current: An Evergreen Christmas anthology
* COOKING UP CHRISTMAS by Jaycee Weaver - I really liked this one
* A GOLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS by Cathe Swanson - good
* MERRY AND RIGHT by Teresa Tysinger - about 50% through it. It is good so far, but I don't like the MC's sister, and she hasn't even shown up in the book, yet.
The Trees of New Cheltenham by Chautona Havig - I probably won't get to this one before tomorrow.
I have been reading books in a Love Inspired series (Lone Star League). I started them way out of order! I went back yesterday and finished book 1, I will be starting book 2 this evening before bed.
A DOCTOR FOR THE NANNY by Leigh Bale

I'm still working on the ones I mentioned before, sigh!0
-
I just finished one that I can't believe I had missed. I usually try to read Melody Carlson's book as I see them released, but this one snuck by me.
HOME SWEET TINY HOME by Melody Carlson
Current:
SCENT OF DANGER by Laura Scott
LAWFULLY ADORED by Jenna Brandt
I really goofed on these. They are both K9 search and rescue and I usually try to keep my audiobook and ebook in different genres...oops. I'm getting them mixed up already. I will be reading the Jenna Brandt book until bedtime so hopefully I will quit mixing them up.

I'm actually reading more normal books this time that fantasy books. I'm almost done with my re-read of Cameron Townsend, a man who was devoted to translating the Bible into as many languages, especially obscure ones, as possible.
The others are still the ones I've been working on. I bit off more than I could chew with the number of books I'm trying to get read! Eek!0 -
I was reading a post by Carol Moncado on facebook about Royal Romances. I always enjoy her books and have read all of them. She also talked about Rachelle McCalla's Love Inspired Suspense books that are about royals and their "secret service" type security. I am almost to the end of the third book that hoopla had in audiobook. Libby has one in a different royal series, so I will do it soon.
These take place in the country of Lydia - which was a country in Biblical times, but is now in Turkey. This series is modern day and the country is still Lydia. I am enjoying them, but I keep thinking that it is odd that there is no language barrier. I'm sure that it wouldn't actually be an English speaking country.
Protecting the Groom (Lydia)
DEFENDING THE DUCHESS - Rachelle McCalla
ROYAL HEIST - Rachelle McCalla
ROYAL WEDDING THREAT - Rachelle McCalla
I am also reading
WHO TOUCHES THE MOUNTAINS by Deborah Raney. I started this yesterday evening while lounging on the couch and promptly fell asleep....I am going to have to figure out where I left off. I have been looking forward to this one. Part of the proceeds from the book will go toward the hurricane relief fund since the area in the book was hit by Helene. She almost delayed publishing the book, but she decided to donate some of the proceeds and go ahead with publishing.

I'm still working on the books I've been reading for awhile.
Connie, I read one of the Rachel McCalla books and really liked it. I've looked at the rest in that series, but just can't seem to fit it in! LOL! Carol's books are really good, and I like that they are each about a different person in the family, but they tie together.0 -
I have one more of Rachelle McCalla's books to read in a different series. These are the only ones available from any of the library applications that I have.
I finished WHO TOUCHES THE MOUNTAINS by Deborah Raney. I always love her books.
I also finished a couple books by a new to me author:
THE LAVENDER THIEF by Elysian Hunt.
THE PEPPERMINT VILLAIN by Elysian Hunt - These are from hoopla, but they are also in KU. I would consider them cozy mysteries, with the main character in book 2 being a minor character from book 1. They have essential oils as a big part of the stories. I will see if I find more audios in the library applications and if not, will check out on KU.

Still working on: FREEDOM'S PRICE by Pegg Thomas; book 3 in A MOST CONVENIENT MARRIAGE anthology; CONFESSIONS OF A STRANGER by Danielle Grandinetti. All of these have captured by attention. I'm also reading book 2 in a mild fantasy series (fantasy world, no magic) FALCON FLIGHT by Azalea Dabill, really enjoying this series.
Lost interest in SQUIRE OF TRUTH, may try it again later; also LEGACY OF ROSES, I think if I get back into it I may be okay, I really like this author; I've also lost interest in APPALACIAN SONG - sigh, will keep working on it though.0 -
I finished the Susan May Warren Josey series.. EVERYTHING'S COMING UP JOSEY, CHILL OUT, JOSEY, and GET COSY, JOSEY. Last night I started THE UNWANTED ASSISTANT: A Clean Billionaire Romance by Evangeline Kelly.0
-
Evangeline Kelly wrote a pirate series with a strong Christmas message, many years ago, I really liked that one and I think since then I've only read a couple of her Alaska books. She's a very good writer.0
-
I agree with you; I always enjoy her books.0
-
I finished the missionary bio I was re-reading and will start on one of the two that I found for free this morning, WILLIAM BORDEN. Our pastor's wife was reading his story and then Pastor David shared it on his FB feed and it sounded really interesting, so I will give it a try. I'm always looking for new missionary stories to read.0
-
Whew - I got into two heavy books.
THE YEAR OF GOODBYES AND HELLOS by Kelly Irvin - Deals with an Oncologist and her sister winds up with stage 4 cancer. Really hard family relationships and cancer. I thought I needed something lighter, so started....
COMING HOME AGAIN by T I Lowe. This deals with family relationships and rape. Really hard book, and I thought it was going to be lighter. I finished this one, but was actually harder than the other one.
I am also reading SEASIDE COWBOY’S TREASURE by Alexa Verde. I'm not as fond of her newer books. I have been keeping up with this series and this one was released. I needed a beach read, so I am counting this one. I'm probably not going to keep up with her new releases at this time.
Edit:
I finished THE YEAR OF GOODBYES AND HELLOS by Kelly Irvin. Sad but very good. It did have a good, if not particularly "happy" ending. At the end of the book, the author talked about living with stage 4 cervical cancer and what it has meant in her life.
Now to finish the Alexa Verde book and find some easy ones for a change.

Oh wow, a story means so much more when the author is writing from experience.0

I am listening to a book that is a breath of fresh air. I so needed a light read that was totally different than the ones I had been reading.
CLOAKED IN BEAUTY by Karen Witemeyer -historical based on Little Red Riding Hood...and it fits one of the challenges that I am trying to fill.
I would like to have the 50 book challenge done by the end of the month, but one is a debut book that was published in 2025. There is a debut book coming out on the 28th that I really want to read and my library has agreed to purchase it, but I'm not 100% sure it will be prior to the end of January. One other of the 12 book challenges has one is a book released in May of 2025. I can't do that one until May. I think I have everything else in that challenge completed.
I don't have a kindle book going right now. I'm probably going to start on a Grace Livingston Hill book for a reading challenge.

I have Cloaked in Beauty on my wish list!
I finally finished some books: FREEDOM'S PRICE by Pegg Thomas. This is an early American story about indentured servitude. A teenage girl and her sister are taken into indenture when their father dies on the ship over. When the daughter of her master becomes pregnant and has the baby, he gives her her freedom if she will take the boy and claim him as her own. She ends up traveling to a new settlement with the Quakers. Very good. I'm moving on to the next book in this series, about a young man indentured in the same house.
CONFESSIONS OF A STRANGER by Danielle Grandinetti - 1930's suspense. A young woman basically has PTSD from a very abusive relationship with her sister who ultimately tried to kill her. She is on the run and ends up in a very small fishing village where she continues to run into trouble when someone is murdered and she struggles to keep her head while memories of her past assail her. Very good. I'm moving on to the next one in the series.
I'm finishing FALCON FLIGHT by Azalea Dabill; IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING by Pegg Thomas, not too far in this one yet; APPALACIAN SONG by Michelle Shocklee; and a missionary bio - BORDEN OF YALE about William Borden who goes through all of his training for the mission field but dies before he can get there.

I really enjoyed CLOAKED IN BEAUTY by Karen Witemeyer. I also finished AUNT CRETE’S EMANCIPATION by Grace Livingston Hill. Of course, this was for a challenge "classic CF".
Current:
BLUEBIRD ON THE PRAIRIE by Tasha Hackett - this is for the prompt "bird on cover". It has lots of little birds in the background, I figure that it counts. It is pretty good. I hope to finish it today.
A COWBOY’S NEW FAMILY by Jessie Gussman - I'm almost through this on YouTube, and I'm really enjoying it.

I used to buy old Grace Livingston Hill books usually from the 20's and 30's, usually from Ebay. I've read quite a few of her stories, and the only one I read that didn't have any romance in it was the one you just read! It enjoyed it.0
-
I'm listening to HEART ON THE LINE by Karen Witemeyer and THE FORGE by Chris Fabry. I'm not far into the Fabry book. I was reading in the Witemeyer series and this one happened to be audio, so I'm actually doing 2 audiobooks at once.0
-
I finished APPALACIAN SONG by Michelle Shocklee. I had trouble getting into it, but about mid-way through I finally felt the story and spent one night of reading just crying my eyes out. Powerful scene! I was a little disappointed in the reunion, but then, it had been 30 years!
I couldn't finish one book because of a cuss word - FALCON FLIGHT by Azalea Dabill. I have gone on to the third book (because the first book was fine), FALCON DAGGER.
Still reading LEGACY OF ROSES by Melanie Cellier; the third story in A MOST CONVENIENT MARRIAGE, this one is seeming to go on forever; BORDEN OF YALE a missionary bio; the second story in the Robin Patchen Christmas two book series ONE CHRISTMAS NIGHT; IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING by Pegg Thomas.
I just started the second book in Danielle Grandinetti's series REFUGE FOR THE ARCHAEOLOGIST.

Just finished THE BEST GIFT (Legacy of Love Book 1) by Irene Hannon. Starting on Book 2 next: GIFT FROM THE HEART.0
-
Oh my! I just listened to a really powerful book. It was the novelization of the movie THE FORGE. You guys may have seen the movie (Kendrick Bros), but I just don't watch them. This is the followup to THE WAR ROOM. Both novelizations are written by Chris Fabry, and are powerful books on intercessory prayer, and trusting fully on God.0
-
I never did read THE WAR ROOM and I haven't even heard of the movie THE FORGE - LOL! but Chris Fabry is a really good author so I'm sure they are awesome stories.
I'm still working on that long list and making headway!0
