Current reading LOVE ON THE LINE by Siri Mitchell.0
-
So good to see you over here and thanks for starting this thread!
I was reading more in THE DARK FOUNDATIONS this afternoon and will work on the Christy Barritt book tonight, GABE.1 -
I just finished the last book in the SWEETHAVEN series I have been reading. A SWEETHAVEN ROMANCE by Courtney Walsh (romance)
I am listening to LOVE COMES CALLING by Siri Mitchell (historical/humor). I have to admit that it isn't my favorite at this point.0 -
Finished:
LOVE COMES CALLING by Siri Mitchell (historical) - It was okay. It was about a girl in the 1920s that had ADHD. Of course it was undiagnosed in that time frame. It just wasn't my favorite.
A LADY IN ATTENDANCE by Rachel Fordham (historical) - This was really good! I didn't realize that they had dental techs in the late 1800's and that they were called Ladies in attendance. Her books are always good, and this did not disappoint.
Current:
CRASH LANDING by Edie James (suspense) - I read the first 4 of this series last month and left this one until the newest came out. I have it now, so decided I had better get started. So far, so good.
I will probably start on Lynn Austin's newest Chasing Shadows when I open a new audiobook. It came up from the library a couple of days ago. I love my library systems...all 5 of them!

I am currently reading GABE by Christy Barritt. I'm about 60% through it. I am also listening to Chasing Shadows by Lynn Austin, but I needed something to switch it off with. I enjoy WW2 novels, but I also know what's coming and sometimes that is difficult.
I enjoyed the Edie James novels that I have read. They are available KU and I would compare them to Christy Barritt. There is another to be released later.0 -
Current:
CHASING SHADOWS by Lynn Austin - I took a break from it yesterday because of Bill's doctor's appt, etc. I will probably get back to it today. Just needed light and easy.
ME AND THE DREAMY DOOMSDAY by Jessie Gussman (rom/com) - This series is really light, but I decided that it was a good choice for today. It's pretty good. It is part of the Good Grief, Idaho series if that tells you anything.
Finished:
GABE by Christy Barritt (suspense) KU
IT'S A MYSTERY...BIRDS by Janetta Fudge Meissner (RV humor) KU - This series of her books are always funny. Janetta and her husband are full-time RVers and I know that she takes a lot of their experiences and puts them in the series. It has been a long time since she wrote a book for that series, but I grabbed it as soon as I saw that it was available.

I'm almost finished with THE DARK FOUNDATIONS by Christ Walley. This is a futuristic Sci-fi and I've really enjoyed it.
I'm re-reading OATH OF THE BROTHERHOOD, a medieval type story before going on to book to BENEATH THE FORSAKEN CITY.0 -
OH wow! Kim you would love this book!
COME BACK TO ME by Jody Hedlund (time travel). I don't know if you have connected to your local library yet, but this is her newest and it is so good. It is part of the Waters Of Time series. I will finish either tonight or tomorrow and will wait anxiously for the next to be released.0 -
Finished:
ALL AT ONCE by Lindsay Harrel (romance prequel)
WHEN QUESTIONS ABOUND by Lorana Hoopes - not worth it. It was too short, and I basically knew everything in it from reading the series.
Current:
ALL BECAUSE OF YOU by Lindsay Harrel (romance #2) She just put the Walker Beach series on KU. I had read book 1 from the library, and had the prequel, but hadn't read it. I am enjoying the series.
WHAT IF I LOVED YOU by Mandi Blake (rom/susp) I checked this out on hoopla audio, but it is available in KU. Pretty good, so far. I've enjoyed several of her books. I am not far into it, I just listened while I took a morning walk.0 -
Finished:
ALL BECAUSE OF YOU by Lindsay Harrel (romance #2) KU
ALL I’VE WAITED FOR by Lindsay Harrel (romance #3) KU
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE by Lindsay Harrel (romance #4) KU - Good series. The books will actually continue in a new series that is coming in September. I doubt it will wind up in KU, though. There is some drinking - a beer or a glass of wine here and there.
Current:
NASHVILLE SWEETHEART by Rachel Hauck (romance) - Well, it isn't my favorite of hers, but it is pretty good (I have high expectations of her books). The character is a country star and not a Christian, so her behavior is not Christ-like. Her boyfriend is moving in, etc. There has been nothing objectionable and I am seeing the start of a redemption story. She knows the way.
WHAT IF I LOVED YOU by Mandi Blake (rom/susp) - I haven't gotten much further into this one. It is an audio book and I turned it on sleep timer before bed, but promptly fell asleep. I need to go back and figure out where I fell asleep.0 -
My library is sending me a card! Woohoo. Thanks for the encouragement and advice. I went on-line and requested a card and then sent the library an e-mail. They responded within a few hours, surprised me! The lady I talked to said they had me in their system, but were surprised I was told to use my old card. It's all worked out now and in a few days I will have access to my library system! Yippee.
Still reading the same books, two fantasies and one Amish.0 -
Still working on the same books. Two of the books are rather long. The Amish MOB has a lot of lying in it, so I just gave up on it and went on to another story, but got super tired so didn't get far in DENY, a re-read.0
-
Current:
Love’s Treasure anthology book #3 - A ROYAL INHERITANCE by Joy Ohagwu. I am not a fan of the historical royals, etc. but the book is okay. It doesn't seem like a Joy Ohagwu book.
SUSTAINING FAITH by Janette Oke (historical) - this is her newest and I'm not far into it...started before bed on sleep-timer, so just about 30 minutes in. I will probably go further into it today.
I had pre-ordered the Love's Treasure Anthology because I knew that I had still had some kindle credits (and they expired the day the anthology came out). I had 3 cents left after the purchase...I don't think losing that will hurt too badly.... It has 14 books in it by some of my favorite authors.
I have two more 99 cent anthologies ordered that I don't have credits to fulfill, but I don't think that they will break the bank.
On another note, Marion Ueckermann, whose book in the anthology I just finished, is in ICU in South Africa, and just went on the ventilator with severe COVID. She went to visit her brother in another city (who was diagnosed with cancer) and when she came home, the entire family that had been with her brother came up with COVID, including the brother. Her husband now has it. The brother is doing fairly well, but his wife is now hospitalized. They have asked for intercessory prayer for her and the family.0 -
I got that anthology too, Connie, just haven't started it yet. I'm terrible with anthologies unless they are super good.
I found a set of three free books yesterday: Moonhaven serie by Kylie Casper. Three separate books but all free. I just looked them up and they are still free: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZDJCJCM/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title
About halfway through with BENEATH THE FORSAKEN CITY and almost done with the third Chris Walley sci-fi book. I wanted something lighter to read last night and continued on a book that I had set aside - KINGDOM OF BEAUTY by Deborah White. It's a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast. It stays true to the story a bit more than I like in a re-telling so I feel like I've been there and done that!0 -
I didn't get much reading in yesterday or this morning. We were getting the camper ready to sell, then selling it. Whew - remind me not to do that again when it is 103°.
Currently listening to THE ROBIN’S GREETING by Wanda Brunstetter (Amish). I am still reading in the Love's Treasure collection. I am reading the 8th book - RUBY RADIANCE by Valerie Comer.
I saw that series when I was getting the #freebiefriday books for MeWe. How did I get myself into that? Lots of work.0 -
I won that book by Wanda Brunstetter on Goodreads. We got the hard copy of it. I've won three books in giveaways now.
I am enjoying the Jen Turano book, TO STEAL A HEART.
I'm about halfway through with the Chris Walley book, THE INFINITE DAY. It hasn't been as good as the first two books, but I think that's because it is dealing with sin and darkness even more.0 -
I just started TO SAVE A LONG by Rachel Hauck.0
-
Well, I don't like that the edit function has a time limit...
I'm reading TO SAVE A KING.0 -
I finished TO SAVE A KING. Rachel Hauck does not disappoint.0
-
I just finished Bridge of Gold by Kimberley Woodhouse. This is book #3 in the Doors to the Past series by various authors. They are split time books addressing something historical. This one during the time of the building and restoration of the Golden Gate Bridge. VERY good!
I will finish THE ROBIN’S GREETING by Wanda Brunstetter (Amish) someday. I may try to finish this afternoon to get to something I will enjoy more. I think I have read too many Amish books lately and they are becoming very trite.0 -
Ugh, I started two books and had to stop because of cussing. One of them isn't touted as Christian fiction and it's a rather strange fantasy, but book one was clean so I was giving book two a try and it wasn't long before the cuss word popped up. The other book is the first in that series I mentioned before where all three books were free: MCFARLANE'S LANTERN by Kylie Casper. About a third of the way in there was a cuss word - boo, since the book was pretty good. I might try book two and see if she stays clean in it.
I finished book one in the BLEEKER STREET INQUIRY AGENCY series by Jen Turano. Now to wait for the library to get book two. Oh, I got my library card today and set up my library, Hoopla, and Overdrive accounts. Didn't find anything on my wish list though. I looked up that Jody Hedlund book which Hoopla had, now I just need to get it using my Kindle.0 -
Kim - do you have the hoopla application on your kindle? It should be fairly easy, but it won't turn into a kindle book on hoopla, but on libby's application of overdrive. I also sent you the link on SP that shows how to request books for your overdrive library to order. My library is good about it, but I know that all libraries are different. I think they have bought all of but 2 of the books I have requested there.0
-
I saw that, Connie. I'm able to request or recommend books on my Overdrive, just two a month though, and I think they've only purchased one that I recommended! I have Libby on my phone, but because everything else I use is Android I can't download it on my Kindles or my computer.
I finished the Chris Walley book. What a very strange ending. He basically had two endings, the first one you could end it there and everyone lives happily ever after, or you could read on and find that everything pretty much blows up, but as it turns out this is the end of that period where satan is let out of the pit to war with the saints and then Jesus returns and sets up a new heaven, a new earth, and a new Jerusalem. I'm not sure on his ending though, it almost sounded like everything starts all over again and the main character of this story gets to start a new world! I don't think so! There were a few things in this last book that I scrunched my face up at, not sure where he got his ideas from since he seemed to try to be staying biblical. I didn't like this last book as much as the first two.
I read some more in COME BACK TO ME, so good!0 -
Copied from SP post:
Last night I finished PLOT TWIST by Bethany Turner (her new release). It was good, and really had a plot twist.
I also finished:
OFF THE GRID CHRISTMAS by Mary Ellen Porter (LI suspense) l
HIS SECOND CHANCE by Liz Isaacson (Ivory Peaks Romance #2) - her newest, I always check out her KU books as they come available.
THE AMETHYST HEART by Penelope Stokes (family drama) This book is about the great-grandmother retelling the family story. It was good. I usually pick up one of her books a month or so from hoopla.
Current:
SHORT STRAW BRIDE by Karen Witemeyer (historical) - It is one of her older books, and I picked it up on hoopla audio. I am enjoying it.

UGGGH Rant here! I love Harry Kraus, MD's medical suspense, but I do NOT like ANY of the characters in this book. NONE! NO, NOT A SINGLE ONE. Why do I keep listening? Because I usually really enjoy his books.
PERFECT by Harry Kraus, MD (medical suspense). I show that I had already read this book and I really liked it, but I don't remember anything from it. If I had, I wouldn't have re-read.0 -
Maybe you have a gremlin in your tablet that is reading your books! I hate when I love an author but am not impressed with the story. This is funny though, I am really struggling to like COME BACK TO ME. I think the whole Tree of Life connection is making it a bit creepy for me. God took away man's access to the tree so that man would not live forever - what, did God mess up and allowed some seeds to be left behind? or water tainted by the life-giving whatever? Just don't like that she used that as her premise. But, it is interesting if I take that away from the story.
I'm re-reading THE BLADES OF AKTAR series and am on book four now. Really enjoying this re-read. Some Calvinism coming through but not very strongly.0 -
Finished:
THE KING’S SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE by Carol Moncado (royal) - typical. I always enjoy her books.
DANCING IN THE RAIN by Marion Ueckermann (romance novella) - I had this novella in my kindle for a long time. I read it last night. So sad that she is gone, but knowing she is with Jesus is consolation.
PERFECT by Harry Kraus, MD (medical suspense) - I don't know why I gave this good ratings last time, and I don't know why I don't remember reading it.
DEADLY CONNECTION by Lenora Worth (LI suspense)
EXPLOSIVE SITUATION by Terri Reed (LI suspense)
Current:
TRACKING A KIDNAPPER by Valerie Hansen (LI suspense)
SUNRISE ON THE BATTERY by Beth Webb Hart (family drama) - I had never read one of her books and hoopla audio has several. I decided to give it a try. I can't say that I am too crazy about it at this point. Will I listen to more by her? Maybe, we will see how this goes. It definitely has Christian flavor, but only the mother is seeking at this point. He husband is slightly interested (avid reader and is reading Bible and CS Lewis).

Still working on COME BACK TO ME by Jodi Hedlund; and finished book three in THE BLADES OF AKTAR. Love this series.0
-
Finished:
TRACKING A KIDNAPPER by Valerie Hansen (LI suspense)
SCENE OF THE CRIME by Sharon Dunn (LI suspense) - same series as above. I think I have now read them all, but somewhat out of order.
SUNRISE ON THE BATTERY by Beth Webb Hart (family drama) - I guess I really didn't like the characters in this book, either. They really needed to get their noses out of the air, but I did like the story of redemption. Yes, I will probably listen to more of her books, but not today.
Current:
WHERE DO I GO by Neta Jackson (Yada Yada House Of Hope series). I read the Yada Yada Prayer Group series many years ago and when I saw this on hoopla audio I decided to start this series. I am not really liking the husband in the story, but I don't think I am supposed to....another rich guy with his nose in the air. I didn't get very far before it kicked off for the night.
Ready to start:
NO JOURNEY TOO FAR by Carrie Turansky (historical) - This is her newest and the ebook that I will start sometime today. I really enjoyed the first in the series, so am expecting this to be good, as well.

I finished the first two books in the SHELTER TRILOGY series by Robin Merrill - SHELTER and DANIEL. I started the third right before bed - REVIVAL.1
