I saw a couple of books at Christian Book Finds this morning. I didn't have the Dee Henderson one that was on sale, and there was a Christy Barritt one as well. The Dee Henderson was THREADS OF SUSPICION and the Christy Barritt was THE TREBLE WITH MURDER.
CORAL MOON AND SUBMERGED are both $1.99. I have Submerged, but not Coral Moon, her's a little scarier than I like.

I finished SWIFT by R J Anderson and am moving on to NOMAD, which I have on my Kindle and not through Hoopla, so I can listen to it! Woohoo!

I read some more in the Christy Barritt one I am working on but struggling to get into it. It's the one where they are on a short term cruise ship and Jimmie James (or something like that) is the captain.

I am on the third book in the RJ Anderson series, TORCH. I've really enjoyed them. They are YA fantasy, probably more for the older youth. The main character is 17 years old but has a ton of responsibility.

Currently listening to HUCKLEBERRY HARVEST by Jennifer Beckstrand (Amish). This series makes me smile.

Currently reading the anthology LOVE, LAUGHTER, AND HAPPILY EVER AFTER. I really don't know why I bought this one, but it was just 99 cents. I haven't found any of the stories that I would say we're really good. They aren't bad, just okay. I will finish the anthology, but may take a break from it. I'm on book 7 of 20. Some authors usually write Christian fiction, but these have no Christian content at this point, but they have been clean (but a little steam). And - the laughter is what drew me to it. With the current stress, I wanted a laugh. So far, I have smiled a couple of times, but that's it.

Currently listening to TO WRITE A WRONG by Jen Turano. I always get a smile out of her books. I'm about half way through it.

I am sitting at 50% in the anthology, too. I am taking a break from it right now. I don't know what I will read, but I have some I know will be good, so they will take priority.

Oh, I wanted to read that Jen Turano book. So glad it is out! I really liked the first book in this series so am excited for this one. She's just a good writer.

I am reading a really good series - The Narrow Gate series. I'm on book four right now. It is a dystopian story of a world after nuclear war. There is a town that is ruled by a very evil man and if you become an orphan (a stray) you become the least of his slaves in his "house". Kara's mother dies and she must escape the city into the deadly wilderness to save herself from that fate, but Kara is resourceful and she survives. The first book is AFTER THE FALL. There are people in the story who know some of the Word, and they know that if you do right you can find the narrow road; and as the story goes along Kara works to do the right thing and learns that it has to be more than doing right, it has to do with trusting in God too. I've just really enjoyed it. The stories are short and it goes quickly.

I'm also still working on the non-fiction THE WAY OF HOLINESS, written in the late 1800's. Very good.

    Finished:
TO WRITE A WRONG by Jen Turano (historical) libby - I always enjoy her books. This was no exception.
    An Amish Schoolroom anthology
A CLASS FOR LAUREL by Amy Clipston (Amish)
A LESSON ON LOVE by Kathleen Fuller (Amish)
WENDY'S TWENTY REASONS by Shelley Shepard Gray - These were pretty short and typical Amish stories.

    Current:
Love, Laughter, and Happily Ever After Collection (Clean) - I am now reading book #18 of 20. I am very tired of it, the books aren't great, but I am determined that I am going to finish since I actually spent real money on them.....not much, obviously, but not a freebie.
OUT OF THE STORM by Jody Hedlund (historical)

Kim, I don't know if you noticed the free reads on Hoopla this month. I only checked the audio, but got a Jody Hedlund book that I read earlier this month, and a couple of LM Montgomery books. I never read them as a kid, but my Mom got me started on them when I was in my 30's. She and Dad went to Prince Edward Island and went to the house in the Anne Of Green Gables series. She bought me a boxed set there, and it started me reading them. Even before kindles, I could get them free online and they would sync into my Palm Pilot. Wow, that dates me!

I loved the movies of Anne of Green Gables but never read the books. I usually check the books on my wish list with Hoopla. I found the book Swift on there and the second book was on sale for cheap and I ended up just buying the third book because I really liked the first two books.

I really enjoyed the series that I read Janean Worth, the NARROW GATE series. I finished the four books that are out, not sure she will continue this series, but it easily could be because she left a loose end. It's about a world after the Fall (which is also symbolic of our relationship with Jesus). You live in a very wicked place until you make up your mind that you are going to search for the narrow road which leads to the narrow gate. Only those who truly want to find it by living a life doing right and trusting God will find the road. It takes until book three before they realize that trusting God is was makes you want to do what is right - no matter the cost. Just a really good and easy reading story. Kind of a Pilgrim's Progress sort of vibe.

I'm reading two or three other books as well, one by Tracey Higley, THE QUEEN'S HANDMAID or something like that. It brings in the other stories that she wrote on the wonders of the world. I'm enjoying it as well.
A fantasy called DAWN OF WONDER where a boy is seeking to grow strong so he can mete out justice on the evil men who kidnapped and then killed his best friend (a girl). (I have a feeling they didn't sacrifice her and he's going to find her alive somewhere).
There's probably something else I'm reading as well... LOL!

HEARTS MADE WHOLE by Jody Hedlund (historical) - Another in the lighthouse series. I am enjoying these books.

    Finished:
SHOW ME A STAND-IN HUSBAND by Alexa Verde (romance) KU - I have enjoyed these Cowboy Crossing books. Some are by Jessie Gussman and some by Alexa Verde. They are light and easy to read/
HEARTLAND JOY by Jessie Gussman (Christmas romance) KU - A new Christmas series by her.
LAKE HOUSE BEGINNINGS by Sage Parker (sisters) - I thought I might have found a new author to enjoy...not so much. I have a couple more by her that I got free, but I'm not sure when or if I will read. I can't say why I didn't enjoy the book, but it just didn't appeal.

I don't know what ebook I will start today, I have a bunch checked out on KU and one from the library - too many books, too little time.

UNDAUNTED HOPE by Jody Hedlund (historical) - another one in the lighthouse series. I had some trouble downloading this one from hoopla. It refused to download to my phone or to my fire. I did get it to download to my iPad, but I had to dig it out and do an update first. The iPad has issues, but evidently hoopla isn't one of them.

I started on a boxed set that I picked up free on kindle a while back. I usually like Lisa Phillips' books but hadn't started this because I had already read the first book in it, and just let it set. I decided that I would just re-read it since I didn't remember it, anyway.

DEADLY SECRETS by Lisa Phillips (suspense) - current read

I'm reading The Moonlight School by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I always enjoy her books and think this will be a favorite of mine. It's a stand-alone book that takes place in Appalachia, based on a historical woman who taught the mountain people to read.

Carole - It is so good to see you! I really enjoyed The Moonlight School. I'm sure that it will be on your favorites list.

I read a Christmas anthology yesterday. They were okay, but would have been better a bit longer with more character development. I have really had a problem with totally enjoying some of the books that I have been reading. I think that it is the books chosen, but maybe it is just that my mind is on other things.
Holiday Hearts Volume 3 - KU
SWEET PEPPERMINT KISSES by Josie Riviera (Christmas)
A CHOCOLATE-BOX CHRISTMAS by Josie Riviera (Christmas) Short
HOLLY’S GIFT by Josie Riviera (Christmas)

I also finished the Double Down series.
DEADLY AGENDA by Lisa Phillips (suspense)
DEADLY HOLIDAYS by Lisa Phillips (suspense) - another set that disappointed me. I can't put a finger on why I didn't love them, but I found my mind wandering.

I am still listening to UNDAUNTED HOPE by Jody Hedlund (historical) - This is a series that I have really been enjoying.
Currently reading: WHAT DREAMS MAY DIE by Alana Terry (romance) - I figured that I needed a bit of a change.

I'm re-reading a sci-fi series by Steve Rzasa which is about the world in the 2600 and there aren't any more religious texts left, or they are very well hidden and just don't show up very often - but since they are outlawed, once they do show up, you'd better give them to KESEK (basically the KBG or SS or their time) or you could end up sent to a prison planet or conveniently killed. A young man and his father's crew find a Bible in the wreckage of a ship and this is the story of how they bring the Word back out in the open. THE WORD RECLAIMED is the first book. I'm on the second, but I can't remember the title.

I'm also reading the second book in Jen Turano's new series, the one about the writer, but the title of that one isn't there as well.

Well, tummy gone bad, gotta go! Love ya

Well, I am going to have a DNF book this month. I started on THE STORY GIRL by LM Montgomery but it is basically just a lot of stories that this girl tells. I just am not impressed. I am skeptical about the other LM Montgomery book, now. I have enjoyed them in the past, but just not too excited about it now.

I am trying to listen to CARNATIONS IN JANUARY by Clare Revell. This is another hard book to listen to. I think it is a good book, and I have enjoyed others by her, but this one sounds like it was recorded in a hole. It is only a 3 hour book and I will probably try to get through it. I don't like to give up on books.

I am reading MENDING HIS PAST by Kristen Iten (romance). It is about a facility being built for wounded military dogs. I really thought it was a suspense series, but basically it is just romance. I am enjoying it and will go on to the next ones.

Hey! I was just looking at my Christian Book Finds e-mail and they had Tricia Goyer's WWII LIBERATOR SERIES on sale there. Book one is free and books 2-4 are $.99 each.

MENDING HIS PAST sounds like my type of book, Connie. I've tried audio books in the past, but they never worked for me. If I was doing something else, I couldn't concentrate enough to keep up with it, even when driving or riding in a car. And if I just sat and listened, I fell asleep.

Well, MENDING HIS PAST (and the series) is about a dog rescue, but they weren't wounded military dogs. The military is that they only hire vets at the rescue. The dogs all seem to have some sort of problem, though. I am now on the third in the series: MENDING HIS SCARS. I am enjoying the books, but they are really just light easy reads.

I Read Pies and prejudice by Ellery Adams; not a Christian read but only light swearing. About a woman who leaves New York after finding her husband cheating on her and goes back home to the south. There she decides to set up a pie shop after her mom and aunts convince her. Some magic thrown in there that makes people act funny or different whenever they eat her pies or tarts. The fiancé of her arch enemy gets killed with her rolling pin and she has to prove her innocence.
I am so mad since Amazon got rid of most of our books on Kindle and it appears I was hacked into and they said there was another account. Had trouble with other accounts as well.

bigwimp10021 - I think I've read a book or two from that series. Don't you love how creative they get with the titles? I fell in love with cozy mysteries when I discovered Miss Marple many years ago.

What's going on with Amazon? I've accumulated a lot of books on my Kindle over the years, but haven't noticed a problem - yet, anyway.

I always enjoy cozy mysteries, but haven't tried Ellery Adams. It seems like more Christian authors are writing them, now.

    Current:
ALASKAN RESCUE by Terri Reed (LI suspense). I am a huge LI suspense fan, and I enjoy books set in Alaska. I really want to go back and do some exploration of the interior of the state. I really don't know when or if that will happen at this point.

I finished the Clare Revell book. The book was good, but the audio wasn't. It is a shame when a good book is ruined by bad narration quality. There was nothing wrong with the narrator, just sounded like it was done in a hole. Her books are on KU, so I will probably check out more in the series and use text-to-voice if I want to listen.

I am so thankful for all of the library access! With the 5 library cards that I have (plus KU), I can always find something to read. I am a bit disappointed on the number of new audiobooks the last few weeks, but there are still plenty of them for me to listen to. I have several checked out right now, and I need to get started on one sometime today. If nothing else, I will start one before bedtime.

I think it's my Kindle, but I have to restart my Fire to get my library to download. I also don't like how they put just three sections for us to go to at the top on the homepage. I go to Library and it gives me a few of my books, then I have to ask for more, then I have to ask for my library. I just use the app with the boy under the tree and then ask for my library from there. It takes awhile to download, but it's faster. Amazon has really started to go down hill since he got so involved in politics, there customer service isn't nearly as good as it used to be and I can't get my Prime deliveries in less than five days any more! Okay, my library downloaded find on my other Kindle, so my newest Kindle is having problems! Sigh! Not sure I want to get any more Fires', I end up having to replace them every couple of years or less. If I can get one to last two years or more I'm ecstatic! They aren't very expensive any more though, so that is a plus.

I finished THE QUEEN'S HANDMAID by Tracey Higley. It's the book that precedes her Incense Road series. I have that one and couldn't get into it when I started it last time, but am hoping since I read this one and know the characters that series is based on I should be able to get into it. It takes place 25 years later.

Still working on the Sci-fi series and TO WRITE A WRONG by Jen Turano.

Kim - My iPad lasted for a long time, but now the one game that I play and the kindle applications are not working correctly. I checked Bill's as well, but his is as old as mine, and it doesn't work correctly for the kindle application. I had bought the fire for Bill because his iPad battery quit during the time everything was shut down. He wouldn't use the fire, so I had the iPad battery replaced when everything opened back up. The fire just set there until I started having issues with reading. I have to admit that I like reading on it.

Right now I am looking for a tablet that will accept a Sim card. It is for my mom and I don't want to pay the price for an iPad and they don't have fires with sim cards. I found a tablet that will work, I think, but hate to buy an off-brand. It looks really nice with a keyboard, mouse, etc., so it would be everything that she needs, just not a brand I know. Bill won't use his phone, so I thought it would be a wise use of the sim card to put it in a tablet for Mom. They are getting ready to discontinue her internet service and it would be so much cheaper for me to just use that Sim rather than to pay $60 per month for new internet. I can increase my data plan if needed, but I have a LOT more data than I use, and all she does is check her email every couple of days.

I have a card that I added to one of my Fire's and can store my games and books on it rather than in the Kindle, but I don't think it was a SIM card. Okay, I found them on Amazon, they are SD memory cards! Don't know if that will do the same thing for you, but here's the link: https://smile.amazon.com/stores/page/EE244BA1-14A5-4A5C-930B-3ACC62F8769F/

Well, that was interesting! I'm glad it took that post. I don't like that when you check a link it takes you out of MFP rather than just open a new window.

I finished ADELE'S DECISION by Amelia Adams. It's an historical romance that takes place at a boarding house. I stared the second book in the series, but the title eludes me.

I started another series by Janean Worth, THE INVISIBLE. It's about people who have a gift to see into the spiritual realm. Not very far into it yet though. I really enjoyed her other series. Easy books to read, short too.

Reading the fourth book in the Steve Rzasa futuristic series. I didn't have book three and didn't want to pay $5.99 to get it, but I think the first two books go together and then the others are tacked on with the main characters popping up now and again. I don't feel like I missed a book.

I found a book while waiting at the doctor for Mom and didn't realize that I'd started reading it already. It's a time travel story that beings in the modern day and then sends couples back in time. The main female character in this first is the reason I quit reading it the first time I tried - she has a massive attitude problem. Not sure I'll get very far this time if she doesn't have a change of heart soon!

A sim card is what connects your phone to the cellular network. It is actually your phone number and ID. I am looking for a tablet that will connect via cell network instead of wifi. They are available on iPads and Samsung tablets, but they don't have the keyboard and mouse that the other one has. I think if it had the mouse and keyboard it would be easier for mom to get used to. I have an extra keyboard that could go with something else, but not sure how to connect a mouse.

I'm taking my time with THE MOONLIGHT SCHOOL by Suzanne Woods Fisher because I'm enjoying it so much. I'm familiar with Fisher's voice and would know that she wrote this even if her name wasn't on the cover. She has captured the Appalachian culture beautifully. That I am now living in this area makes it even more special.

I often like to read two books at the same time - well, to be honest, it might be more than that. Anyway, I started a Love Inspired book by Tina Radcliffe last night called FINDING THE ROAD HOME. It's very good and I'm eager to read more of her books.

    Current:
DANGEROUS RELATIONS by Carol Post (LI Suspense) -ebook
DEADFALL by Patricia Rushford (suspense) -audiobook
I don't usually do two similar genres together, but I am this time. By the time I get around to listening to Deadfall, I will probably be done with the Carol Post book and moving on to something else, anyway.

    Finished:
SECRETS, LIES AND ALIBIS by Patricia Rushford (suspense) - really need the next in line. Too much not resolved.
FOREVER SAFE by Jody Hedlund (historical) - Part of the Beacons of Hope series. There was a lot more steam in this one than in the others. I have enjoyed the series, though.
BEING ALICE (IN A WORLD LOST IN THE LOOKING GLASS) by Michele Olson -KU -Her books have a bit of mystery and a lot of "quirk". I really have enjoyed them. This is her newest. They take place in Mackinac Island and the first one starts in 1979. This one is book #3 and takes place in 1981. There is a bit of light slang in them, but no cussing or steam.
HOLIDAY MOUNTAIN CONSPIRACY by Liz Shoaf (LI suspense)

I'm sure that I have left out a lot, but this is my most recent.

Well, since I didn't turn on my audiobook until I was ready for bed, I decided against DEADFALL and started on A NOBLE GROOM by Jody Hedlund (historical). I will start the other when I finish this one. I enjoyed the first in the series, but wanted a lighter read at bedtime.

    I finished
DANGEROUS RELATIONS by Carol Post (LI Suspense)
MAGICAL TWILIGHTS by Jessie Gussman (Blueberry Beach) KU - I have really enjoyed her books. They are just light easy books, but sometimes that is just what I need.

    Current:
SPRINGTIME LOVE AT THE HOMESTEAD INN: COUNTRY BOY & CITY GIRL ROMANCE by Kimberly Krey (romance) KU - I didn't know about this series, but so far I am enjoying it. Most of the books that I have read by her were parts of multi-author anthologies.

I've had A NOBLE GROOM for quite awhile, and even started it, but didn't get into it and it faded into the background.

Just over 3/4 of the way through THE WAY OF HOLINESS, a non-fiction. Most things I agree with, some things I'm not sure I can agree with biblically, but generally it's a very good book.

I started BLUEBEARD AND THE OUTLAW by Tara Grayce (Tricia Mingerink, I believe). This is part of a series VILLIANS EVER AFTER. Many of the authors in this series I won't read because they are often too sexy or have bad language, but there are a few of my favorite fantasy/fairy tale authors in here. This one is about Robin Hood, and Guy of Gisborn is the villian who I believe is going to prove to not be a villian. He has a beard that looks blue in the light, thus Bluebeard.
