I think these are all valid points. Yes, I can see how comments can be an intrusion into privacy.

Hello, I lost 50lb since June with the help of MyfitnessPal. I am half way through my 100lb Journey. I have been tracking every single meal and snack, including tea and coffee, since June 5th and I am proud that I can share the data. My blood tests have massively improved and my pre-diabetes has been put in reverse. I am…

June 2021 -> Dec 2021 (50lb lighter)

Weight loss is complicated ... its not just calories in/calories out. And its definitely up and down. If you have seen things working, continue - and trust the process. I am not giving diet advise but I myself at times need to course correct at times. I think if you do the right thing, trust the process and dont try to…

I lost 40lb in around 100 days ... the first stone was probably a month. I think a good schedule is 1 - 2 lb per week. It will not be constant, so the main thing is not to get frustrated!

@NYPhotographer2021 - we were around Rochester / Geneva / Waterloo. Heard a lot about Adirondack!

Well spotted! Nike Metcon - whey are wider around the toes and they are fairly flat - think combination of Birkenstock and weight lifting shoes. Feels so much better when doing squats or anything that requires being solid on the ground.

Thank you!

Thank you all for your comments I have been weight training regularly in parallel to my diet/lifestyle change and I would have liked to see muscle mass increase. it seems there is variability in results for many reason, and looking at the pictures of the scan I noticed that part of my arm was not visible, and that the scan…

Waves of Happiness ... I like it!

This is quite a long/complex program. I suggest you start with bodyweight only or light weights, in front of a mirror if you can, so you get the form right and it feels comfortable. Watching good YouTube videos by professional physio therapists also helps, so would a good personal trainer. Once you are comfortable with the…

Hi, this is a very broad topic, and I can only speak from my own journey, but it has been similar. For me, two things have happened in parallel: - personal frustrations/unhappiness ... resulting in 'emotional eating' - Emotional eating with Highly processed food (fast food) and alcohol, both of which are highly addictive.…

Happy for you to follow my diary and ask any questions. I am following a very energy dense diet, low carb - this is not for everyone - but the key thing for me is to avoid processed food, alcohol, refined sugar and industrial seed oils. I dont think people have to be <insert favourite diet> to be healthy, as long as we eat…

I taught me two things :- (a) we are much more in control of our destiny as most people think, and (b) patience and long term thinking is key.

If its particularly shoulders, isolation is important. Do shoulder presses either kneeling (in lunge position) or sitting to avoid putting in 'Body English' as Arnold Schwarzenegger used to call it. I think dumbbells are better because they allow for a a more natural range of motion than machines or even barbells, and you…

Hello, I started my 100lb weight loss journey 3 months ago and now I am almost 40lb into it. Would be great to share experience and challenge. I am sharing my food diary to friends only.

My game changer was a mental state to focus on my health. Rather than looking at a glass of wine and complaining that 'it's not allowed ', I started to try to look at it and think of the negative health implications. It's similar to looking at cigarettes as an ex smoker- I used to enjoy it but I now know it's just not good…

100g sugar sounds way too much. However, if the bun is a brioche like bread (or even a typical American bread), it will contain a high amount of sugar. So might any dressing (Ketchup definitely). 100g however sounds wrong. 100g are 20 teaspoons or 3 cans of soda.

I can totally relate to that. I used food to self-medicate when I was happy or when I was sad. This is real, and processed food is also designed to addictive. It is work to get out of the cycle. It is possible though!

Fantastic Effort! You should be so proud of yourself!

It must have been a shock, but it's also a good wake up call. I was/am in a similar situation and it is amazing how much proper diet (as in, good food, not starving) can do that we think only medication can do. I only joined here recently (10 years after the first attempt), and I found the support strong and positive. If I…

I was (am?) totally addicted to bread, pasta, snacks, chips ... you name it. And I used to drink alcohol most days. The challenge is to break that addiction ... once you have broken it, it becomes easier. But that first step is hard, and I would be presented by a big plate of toasted cheese sandwiches, I could eat it all,…

In essence I follow a very low carb diet, but I do not do any calorie restriction. Sometimes I eat a lot, sometimes I eat little. Because I am insulin resistant, my hormones dont respond like with a healthy person. I am trying to develop a natural feeling for hunger and satiety. I eat typically 5 eggs for breakfast, in…

I have been working with personal trainers on/off over last 15 years and overall it has been a very good experience and I again work with a fantastic trainer. I still believe in 'You cant outrun a bad diet', so I use the trainer to get fit and strong - but I still manage my food and diet. As part of a trial to do youtube…

Yes, I started my journey June 5th. It was after a health scare of bad liver results and my weight topping out at 130.5 kg (actually more, but that's close enough). But it was really the pre-diabetes and liver results that did it for me. I was told I had one 'last chance' to change it around through lifestyle change, as…

You are welcome to look at my food diary. Essentially, I cut out all sugar, alcohol, refined carbohydrate, starch. But primarily I cut out processed food (and I consider any restaurant processed food, even if it was Michelin star). I cut out all seed oils. I also started a weight training regime (no cardio because I still…

This is good feedback. I always lacked Vitamin D and also took it because recommended by a doctor; since Covid I have taking it religiously. I used to like the idea of supplements but I increasingly think that we need to make sure the quality of food and environment makes us healthy.
