How many 5% Challenges have you done? I don't actually know how many, I started on SparkPeople back in about 2015. It took me awhile to join MFP, I've done about 4 challenges now on MFP. What do you like to do for fun? I've been told I don't know how to have fun. The last 3-4 years I've been dealing with a lot of pain and…

I have finished the Pre-Challenge activities and am ready. Thank you for posting such thorough information, giving us so many things to think about. I am really looking forward to this winter challenge, hoping it will take me out of some of the doldrums of Winter in Minnesota! It hasn't been too bad so far but you just…

I have already put the Winter Challenge on my calendar for every Saturday. I plan to add to my "to do" list a reminder to check in with the challenge on a daily basis - that way if I get to the end of the day and haven't done it, I'll know! I like the suggestion of color coding it - I'm going to see if I can do that with…

I don't believe I am an emotional eater. I'm quite deliberate about what I eat. If I want a snack I put what I believe is reasonable into a bowl and when it's done, I'm done. I absolutely don't have a sweet tooth. My husband reaches into the M&M dish or the cookie jar pretty much after every meal - I rarely need a sweet…

How many 5% Challenges have you done? Several years of doing these challenge, first on Spark People and maybe the last 4 here on MFP. What do you like to do for fun? I haven't been very good at fun these past few years - I'm reading a book about it right now. If I figure it out, I'll let you all know. What major city do…

I take Pilates classes - once on the Reformer (which I absolutely love), and hopefully twice on the floor. Starting in January I am adding a cardio/strength/balance class. I plan to get up a bit earlier so I can do Yoga with Adrianne daily. Although the weather has been milder, I no longer feel comfortable walking with…

I don't follow any specific type of diet, I need to eat what my body wants. I plan to sit down once a week to plan our dinner's using healthy recipes that include a balanced diet. I want to add more fruits and vegetables to my diet, include yogurt daily (per my doctor) and add more protein with a protein shake. This one is…

My goal for the New Year is to get back into a better routine. The last few months of 2023 have been challenging for me and I need to take control and get back to living my life! I hope to lose some weight but my main concern is to get stronger and find a way to manage the stress of everyday life! Being a part of a team…

PRE-CHALLENGE ACTIVITY #5: Mindful Eating vs. Emotional Eating First, thank you for providing two wonderful sources of information for us to ponder on. I have downloaded the Mindful eating guide - I have also just recently completed a session on Mindful eating. I would say that I am more of a mindful eater than an…

PRE-CHALLENGE ACTIVITY #4: Exercise Plan I already have a fairly well established Exercise Plan as follows: Monday - Pilates Reformer Tuesday - Pilates Fusion Saturday - Pilates Fusion 30 min + Walk with my dog Daisy every day if weather permits. 30 min + Stretching and some strengthening exercises daily at the end of the…

Pre-Challenge Activity #3: Meal Plan I don't actually have a "meal plan" as such. I want to eliminate most of the fast food options going forward; incorporate more fruits and veggies into my meals; include a daily protein drink; and be mindful of my eating. I do make a weekly meal plan so I have an idea of what I will be…

Pre-Challenge Activity #2- Setting goals My ultimate goal is to gain more strength in my body while losing some body fat. I will do that by: - Getting back to tracking my food & drink - Continuing with 1 Pilates Reformer class and 2 Pilates Mat classes - Add a 4th class to my weekly gym time which includes cardio and…

Pre-Challenge Activity #1: INFORMATION and YOUR INPUT! My reason for being here: The last 2 years have been challenging for me with a knee replacement in January 2022 and Spinal Fusion in June 2022. My spine was crushing the nerve that went to my right leg causing me endless pain. That pain is mostly gone now but my right…

I have an electronic "to do" list where I can schedule activities that need to be done on certain days. I rarely look at my calendar but I look at the to do list several times a day to make sure I take care of everything. It worked very well for me during the Spring challenge!

I consistently weigh myself weekly. When I'm in the challenge I do it at home but the rest of the time I use the scale at the gym and weigh-in on Tuesday mornings. I measure myself about monthly and log it into MFP. It's very rewarding to see those numbers go down.
