Yes, always. I was hoping my body would adjust after a few months in maintenance but it hasn't yet. It's going to be a long winter and I'm in S. Texas.

Hi Carol, I know exactly what you mean by the evil scale. Even when it says my weight hasn't changed, my jeans tell me the real truth. And those days when it fluctuates by as much as five pounds makes me want to slam dunk it into the trash can. I'd be lost without MFPs food diary and all the good support I get here. Being…

Yep! Same here. Mine looks wonky for medical reasons, too. Most of my protein and nutrients have to come from non-meat sources and no red meat at all. Some days my diary looks like it was filled in by a six-year old. Nice thing, though, most of the people who see mine know the reason why. Having it public does keep me…

Welcome to a great bunch of ladies. Click and add them all as friends. Me too if I don't beat you to it.

A lot of things 'work' when you're honestly looking at what you eat every day. I've been in maintenance for a few months now and logging what I eat keeps the scale from creeping up again.

One replacement for oats I haven't seen mentioned here is wheat germ. It still has a texture, but tastes fine. I like smoothies straw-bending thick so I use frozen unsweetened strawberries, blueberries, cherries with a dollop of plain 0%-fat Chobani yogurt (it's smoother than most Greek yogurts) banana and a splash of…

Instant satisfaction wasn't available. No microwaves and fast food wasn't eaten very often. Portion sizes were a lot smaller, too. Every meal wasn't a huge feast, unless it was Sunday dinner or a holiday. Cokes were 6-1/2 oz. or 10 oz. for a big bottle and they weren't usually drank every day. There was no Big Gulp.…

Did your doctors give you any dietary instructions?

I asked myself the same about whether to splurge on a really good bra. I didn't and kept buying the cheaper ones. Now I have a bunch of them I can't wear anymore. When you're five pounds or so from your goal weight you should be safe. You could try herroom.com, they might have the one you like for less and have a great…

Having hot flashes while on my period left me looking up and asking, "WTH?" I lost my eyelashes and eyebrows, too. It takes a little practice but fake lashes work great, are quicker to apply than mascara and no messy cleanup.

The group Over 50 Ladies is a great place to find dedicated MFPers. It doesn't look busy, but just post you're looking for friends and they'll come.

Good idea. The notion of 'three squares' or breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks doesn't really work for me. I feel better when I eat a couple meals a day and have more choices in food instead of eating at certain times of the day because it's time to eat.

Count me in as another animal lover. We have five cats from a feral colony, had them fixed and moved them to the country where they think it's Kitty Disneyland. The oldest is about 15 years old and he scrambles up the oak trees like a kitten. It's heartwarming to watch them prowl the property knowing they'd be living in…

Congratulations! Remember, you're not getting older, you're Leveling Up! I'll be 53 on Oct. 17 and so far this has been my favorite decade.

If you're not suffering at 1500 calories/day, keep it there for another month. It takes me three months to really see whether I'm on track or not.

200 lbs., wow! I'd love to know what got you started and what you do today. Many of the ladies here found each other through this group and added as friends. Just start clicking names and add everyone you see. Welcome!

I've been in maintenance for three months. Hooray! Achievement Accomplished, right? Well, yes, kind of, but it brings on a whole new set of challenges and disciplines. Sometimes, it's downright difficult to not "diet," when that's what I've been thinking of most of my life. Three months ago I started keeping a food diet…

Very nice to have new people. Tip: if you add the ladies you see in here their posts will appear on your wall so you can keep up with this group.

Glad you found us!

I'm just like you except 52 years old! I hated vegetables and never could diet properly without them. Last year I got really sick and had to eat them to get better but couldn't stand the way they felt in my mouth. So, I got an Omega juicer, held my nose like a kid taking bad medicine and drank it down. After awhile, I got…

Like Ann says, the ladies here are a wonderful bunch.

This. And add me, too.

This ^^ Lucky Brand has straight and skinny jeans for curvy and slightly-curvy shapes that look great. Also, some skinnies look more like leggings than jeans. I bought a pair of Lucky's Made in U.S. and they were more relaxed all over than most. A little big in the waist but a little alteration can fix that. Funny, a long…

And there I'm left with most of a lemon that'll I'll juice and well, you know the rest.
-
I love peanut butter on apples. I'd try eating just half an apple but then there's that other half that gets all brown and sad unless I put it in the juicer and then put it in the fridge, forget about it, and toss it out with a clear conscience.

I'm overdue for a bone density test. Insurance covers some of it, I think, but still paying off $20,000 in medical bills has me hesitating before doing any more testing. In the meantime, the suggestions here are great, thank you!

I had a drink idea that might help when craving a Diet Coke which I used to drink by the liter every day. Yesterday I picked up some strawberries and lemons, going to put them in the juicer and freeze what comes out in an ice cube tray. Instead of water all day, it would be easy to take a cube or two and mix with club…

Bumping this again since there are new faces. These ladies are a great bunch and makes my News Feed much more fun to read.

Happy return! What is it like in Croatia?

Robin Thicke does it for me. Perhaps because his father did, and still does.
