  • I just recently started with 4HB and found this group. I will post my findings here.
  • Fantastic job!! You look beautiful!! I bet you feel awesome too. Way to go!
  • I agree with the other posters... lift, lift, lift. Your low carb diet may be what is preventing you from running long distances. You need to balance your carbs and protein to sustain enough energy for those long runs. It's a little counter-intuitive, but increasing your calorie intake (assuming proper nutritional balance…
  • Did your boot camp include weight training? It sounds like you're doing plenty of cardio, and that your nutrition is good, so start lifting some weights. If you lift three times per week I am willing to bet you will break through your plateau.
  • Welcome back Liz! Best of luck with your second trip through MFP!
  • My understanding is that grass-fed organic beef is generally healthier, but it may or may not be leaner than what you'll find in a store. I buy 96/4 beef from Trader Joe's and would be hard pressed to find anything leaner.
  • There are some great low-sugar recipes you can make very easily that should satisfy your sweet tooth. Here's one to get you started... Protein Pudding 1 box (39g) of Sugar Free Fat Free Instant Jell-O Pudding 2 scoops protein powder 2 Tbs Sugar-free Cool Whip 1 Cup Ice Cold water (add more to desired consistency) Mix all…
  • Sounds like you're off to a great start. I'm 42 as well and living proof you can do it. Stay on track and torch that fat!
  • I highly recommend Ultimate Muscle Protein (UMP) from Beverly International. 20g of protein per scoop, and only 5g of carbs and 1g of sugar. You can find it on Amazon but it's cheaper via Tiger Fitness dot com. The chocolate is fantastic straight up with cold water in a shaker bottle. Cookies and Cream works great with…
  • I'm just restarting as well and could also use some motivated friends. Adding you... :-)
  • If your goal is to burn fat, then definitely start a strength training regimen. You can do much of this sitting down and without any equipment, and it will actually benefit you more than cardio. Google "body weight resistance training" and you'll find all kinds of ideas. If you insist on doing cardio there are still tons…
  • As someone who had (and recovered from) knee surgery a couple of years ago, I recommend taking it easy on the knee for a day or two. Don't ignore it... your body is trying to tell you something! Drink lots of fluids and avoid caffeine and alcohol. Start taking a regular does of fish oil if you're not already. Some Advil…
  • I agree with the other posters here. MFP sets your protein level way lower than it should be. I would never be worried about eating too much protein. I have seen the best results eating about 45% protein, which for my current plan is about 160g per day.
  • My wife and I met via Match. We dated for three years, were engaged for a year, and have now been married for a year. We sometimes joke that we should volunteer to be in one of their commercials, because the fairytales that they portray really do come true for some. :-)
