• only ever seen fage, I have also been looking for an alternative, but everything else seems to be greek style. Asda quite often do fage at a reasonable price on special deals but then the price fires back up again for a couple of weeks. I tend to watch out for the special offers and stock up, then buy natural yogurt if I…
• you look fantastic. well done.
• here (Glasgow) it's ginger. I lived in Birmingham for a while and everyone there called it pop. Soda is fizzy water - usually added to alcohol.
• fat jack or sometimes jack attack. he answers to either. previous dogs were: rip, tonks, kai, brandy and monroe.
• alcohol purchased from an off-licence is not a take-away in Glasgow, it's a kerry-oot (carry out). Which is also often what take away food is called. edited for spelling
• We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit - Aristotle. nothing worth having comes easy.
• thank you for doing this. I am a bit puzzled by my calorie burn and I just wondered if you had any thoughts. I apologise if this gets a bit rambling or if I am just a bit thick. I have a low heart rate. I am 46 years old, 5 ft and 133 pounds and, from what I have read, my resting hr should be around 70 and active hr…
• This It's like they're waiting for me to reveal some kind of miracle way to lose weight.
• I am doing the Glasgow race on 3rd June. I am also using c25k and am in week 4, though I think I will end up walking on the day because my two sisters have signed up with me but neither are interested in running so I've been training by myself.
•
It's only been in the past century that the average lifespan has exceeded 50 years old. Alzheimer's usually onsets in the mid-60's so there is no way to know if our ancestors did/could have suffered from Alzheimer's since man did not live long enough to see such a disease.
do you know what average means?…
• both diet and lifestyle are very much different nowadays. Fifty or so years ago not only were portions smaller but food was natural and home cooked. There were fewer mechanical aids such as automatic washers, dryers, vacuum cleaners. Kids played outside more and people generally led a far less sedentary life since leisure…
• I totally agree. I have a friend on mfp who consistently eats less than 1000 calories a day. since she's not really my friend and is in fact a stranger to me, I dont know her situation and if there are perhaps medical reasons for this, so was reluctant to mention. However, concern overcame me and I did comment on it, her…
• vegetables are cheap if you dont buy ready prepared. you can get a bag of root veg in asda/tesco for about £1, cook with water and a couple of vegetable stock cubes and you've got a big pot of soupt that will last all week at less than 100 cals a portion. have for lunch with wholemeal bread, or have some before dinner to…
• going to my nephews wedding and for once had the money to spend on something really special to wear, but couldnt find anything to fit. eventually found a nice dress that the woman said was 'for my shape', still had to wear spandex underwear and when saw the photos I looked like (as we say here) 'a wee fat wummin'. Had…
• you can get a Kelly Holmes one in Tesco, the usual price is £26 but it is selling in Tesco Direct at £17.33 at the moment. Dont know if the price is also reduced in store but you can order online and have it delivered to your local store which avoids post/packing costs. I have been using mine for two weeks and am really…
• wet n windy here in Glasgow, apparently snow on the way.
• me too and eating after sex is something I absolutely do and that is almost always after six! calories in/out are what matter. time it happens makes no difference.
• friend request on its way, and I have loads of support from my friends on here. They wil be happy to do the same for you if needed, they are a great bunch.
• an awesome achievement. congratulations.
• I am so sorry for your pain, and for your children. I have also been there and I dont know why they do it, mine was just an a***hole but after years of having my self esteem trampled into the ground I found the courage to leave. I felt guilty at the time because of my children but they have grown into wonderful young men…
• Hi I've just started C25K this week too. Check out http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml for an idea of the program and if you have an iphone or smartphone there are podcasts and apps that take you through it and are free to download. Good luck.

• when I first started on mfp I was eating around the same amount as you, though not burning nearly so much. I asked for advice from the mfp community about why I was not losing weight and got the same answers - to eat more. I had never before bought into the 'you must eat to lose weight' thing but thought I would give it a…
• you look gorgeous. congratulations.
• I weigh myself once a week and have an 'official' weigh and measure once a month. To be honest though, I've kinda gotten over obsessing about the scales/tape measure. I judge on how my clothes fit and how I feel about what I see in the mirror (which is way better than 4 months ago when I started).
• Yes I run in the rain. I've only recently started running so maybe my motivation is still high enough that it doesn't bother me but the few times I have been out so far it has been pouring - I do live in Scotland though so I dont really have a lot of choice. I dont care if people are lookiing at me either, gives them…
• I'm 46 (oh God!!), have been on MFP for 4 months and track every day. feel free to add me if you like.
• good for you. well done.
• Thanks for the tip, I have started c25k today and will checkout the podcasts.
• I received some gifts that I will never use and that I would not have chosen. However, my family and friends took time to think about me, chose something for me and spent their money on me and gave these gifts with love. For that reason I love everything that I received, even if it is not something I wanted and I think it…
• what a fantastic difference, you look awesome. well done.
