Oatmeal is CHEAP and one of the healthiest grains available.

I appreciate that as being true. However, us guys have something called testicles which produce something called testosterone. Women have testosterone as well however they generally do not have testicles and as such they have much less testosterone which is what allows us guys the ablility to grow larger muscles much…

IMHO, If you lost a proportional amount of fat to muscle that is not bad. To me it says that it was 'typical' healthful weight loss. It's very very hard to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. Some people still argue that it is not possible. If you are one of those then you will want to cycle. That is, go heavy on…

-pure protein bars -fruit (Fuji Apples keep well) -Jerkey (unless you have an issue with meat or sodium) -Bumblebee Tuna sensations (comes wiht small pack of crackers and a small shovel)

You should be able to use Whey powder. Stay away from casein. http://www.livestrong.com/article/305788-whey-protein-powder-lactose-intolerance/

Agree with what others have said. Yes, cardio and weight training combined are optimum. I think that perhaps more important than total protein intake is to key on regular, frequent intervals (every 2-3 hours) of high quality protein intake with lesser amounts of fat and carbs. But I will increase carb and fat intake in…

I think it depends on how quickly you want to lose weight, how much of a deficit and how hungry you feel. If I eat to my calorie max then the computer tells me that I will lose .9lbs per week and there is nothing wrong with that. That is good weight loss and healthful. However; for the time being I am usually eat under and…

I have one day per week that I experience a similar thing. I get VERY fatigued and tired and listless. It lasts anywhere from a few hours to half the day. In my case, there is something metabolic going on. I've noticed that the days after this happens I have my largest weight losses. It's my week long calorie deficit…

Mine is public mostly so that I can receive feeback if I request it. If I get feedback without requests that's fine too. What I'm doing is working but I always consider well reasoned opinions. If it's not well reasoned; we'll that just gives me something to laugh about.

Nothing, unless you are lactose intolerant. Like most things in life 'everything in moderation'.

Uncle Fester from the Adams Family. I would ask him; "Dude, what's up with that coat and where is your neck?"

I've never used one. The idea makes sense as far as toning goes. It basically passes a mild current through the muscle causing it to contract over and over. I don't think it would be of much use for muscle building though. You need to tear down muscle fiber in order to build new fibers and although I'm not 100% positive; I…

Fructose, which is fruit sugar, is a monosaccharide that is easily and quickly absorbed by the body. Fruits are good for a quick pick-me-up and because of their vitamins and other properties eat a few pieces of fruit per day. This is mostly pre or post workout on cardio days. IMHO it’s a better choice than a candy bar or…

Wow, great looking plan! Lots of clean/lean protein. I love it! Just curious, what caused you to fall off? It's a pretty strict plan was just wondering if you started feeling a little lethargic on it and if that is the case I like the idea of adding a few more complex fibrous carbs.

3) my skin has been very oily today (a personal indication that my metabolism is working - when I first started increasing my calories, when I had plateaued due to over training/ not eating enough, I broke out and my skin got very oily - like a teenager). IMHO this sounds Hormonal. Why? Oily skin like a teenager, combined…

Thanks for your comments. Hah! yeah, sodium intake is problematic. My snacks kill me on my sodium limits (Jerky and nut butters in particular). I will pick up a tape measure today to get a more accurate overal picture. Using a piece of string and a carpenters square just is not optimal for this. Good luck in working in…

Thank you. My jeans are starting to sag a bit which is a good feeling.

Thank you for your comment. That makes good sense.

I understand how you feel. Last week I lost 5 lbs but this week nothing despite following the plan. However, my impedence scale tells me that my body fat percentage is down 1% . That means that this is working and my body is simply recompositioning itself and there will be more weight loss to come. Don't be discouraged,…

The treadmill is easier on my knees and ankles than running on asphalt or concrete. I would rather run outside but do it sparingly because I definately feel it in my joints more.

I used to do tae bo 5 times a week when it first came out. It's a great workout! I remember how much leg work was involved; especially in the advanced videos. Yup, you get soaking wet from that workout - good stuff.

I love this and do the same. Sometimes twice per day. I try to eat 6 meals per day at about 300 kcal each meal. 2 tbs of PB or almond butter with 1 fuji apple and 1pc of 100% wheat bread fits perfectly into the routine.

I had tuna for breakfast this moring on a wheat roll.
