  • Since you are free of the scale for a couple months, I would pack one outfit that fits you well and makes you feel confident. Use that outfit as your guide...but, not your master. If it's getting snug, take a walk and see the sights and maybe pass on the bread bowl. Don't fritter away a trip of a lifetime worrying about a…
  • I'm so sorry you're dealing with PCOS...what a frustrating syndrome! Please don't let anyone convince you a hysterectomy is the cure for PCOS. Even after menopause women have symptoms because so many body systems are affected. You may need medical intervention (due to endometrial hyperplasia or for fertility issues), but I…
  • Thank you everyone and thank you for the brand suggestions. I hadn't thought about checking the gluten free items (I was so happy that I wasn't allergic to wheat, I skipped over them) Unfortunately, it is a true milk allergy. My throat was closing up and it would make me immediately sick. I was so overwhelmed by the list…
  • One thing I was able to pinpoint for myself was produce from fast food restaurants. (Salads, burger toppings, etc.) Something in the preservative/wash they use causes my stomach great upset. Unfortunately, it could be something that random. But, I would go to an allergist. I've wasted years feeling sick. I just found out…

  • Well, I was wrong. MFP DOES track your sleep minutes. If you go to log your weight and measurements...down at the very bottom is "Fitbit tracked sleep minutes" (and Fitbit steps too) That means you can also go to reports and get a graph of your sleep minutes. Thanks for your question...learned something new!

  • Is it keeping track on your actual fitbit and just not updating to the site? Try restarting your browser. If that doesn't work completely restart your computer. You'd be surprised at how often this works for people.

  • The two sites share information. I still log my food on MFP because it's what I'm used to, and it sends a summarized total to the fitbit site. Fitbit in return sends over "exercise" info to MFP. Anything you burn over you bmr (basal metabolic rate) automatically gets added into the exercise category and MFP gives you those…

  • Okay, one of my favorite (cheap!) meals are quesadillas made on Ole - High Fiber, Low Carb Tortilla Wraps (Extreme Wellness Tortilla). I just stick them in my George Forman grill, top them with a little low fat cheese and whatever toppings you like (tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, chicken breast, etc.) fold them in half,…
  • I haven't done it yet (just got mine today), but I believe you do hit the start at the beginning and end when you are done. This way, MFP will log it as an actual workout and separate it out from the other calories burned for the day. I believe it will then show an actual duration (i.e. 30 min) vs. the 1 min. default.…

  • Search for a windows 2007 to windows 2003 converter. You should be able to find a free one online. Download it. Here's one that may work. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466 It may change the look of your document (and your capabilities), but you should be able…
  • I'm not going to try and talk you out of supplements...BUT, have you tried the new Fiber Plus stuff? It does not taste "diety". I absolutely love the Caramel Coconut Fudge bar (9 grams of fiber). They taste just like Girl Scout Samoas. I also really like their Cinnamon Oat Crunch (also 9 g. of fiber) I've actually been…

  • That was my thought too...that and I was hoping to take off a few more pounds before showing off my legs to the doctor. I just saw you are doing the Warrior dash. My husband is doing one the first week of June in Ohio. (I'm hoping he doesn't do any permanent damage to himself!) Good luck with the procedure and the race.
  • So, did you do it? I'm kicking myself now because I bought a Groupon for one treatment (4 vials of saline) for $189.00 and thought I was getting a good deal. I haven't used mine yet and I was wondering what you thought of it.
  • It's sweet that a co-worker is making this for you and it may be hard to ask her to make something from a specific recipe. So, what about Angel food cake (they even sell sugar-free ones), berries and fat free cool whip? It's low fat, easy to make and most people like it.
  • Welcome to MFP! It is a great a place for support and encouragement...for weight loss as well as for life in general. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. What an incredibly stressful and sad time this must be for you. It takes great bravery to pull yourself out of that kind of place. I would be happy to be a…
  • Wow! What a coincidence! I have an 11 year old Connor too and we also live in Ohio. I just got back from (a very cold) vacation, so I'm ready to burn these vacation calories. Not sure what the weather will be like here at home, but after a week of eating out every meal I guess I'll just have to suck it up and start walking…
  • Pillsbury has some sugar free cake mixes (which were pretty good). But, DO NOT use their sugar free frosting. It was gritty and greasy tasting. I even tried to whip it with a mixer to get a better consistency, but it didn't help. Although in general, that's a good way to double your frosting. Just beat it for a couple of…
  • I would love to join...my weight loss has stalled the last 2 weeks and I need a little kick in the patootie! • I've been to a few places lately (TGI Friday's, being one) that are now serving Skinny Margaritas. I got a berry one that was pretty good (although, I thought it would be rimmed with sugar and it came with salt...YUCK!) Supposedly they are about 120 cal. But, you could probably work off quite a few calories dancing, so if…
  • Sorry...I wish I knew! I just wanted to sympathize. I'm having the same problem this weekend! I have been so good (for about 70 days) but now I just can't quit eating and I don't know why! Now I have to go out to celebrate my mom's birthday and I'm already almost out of calories. I think I'm just going to give myself…
  • Welcome! MFP (My Fitness Pal) is definitely a great (free) resource. I'm glad you've found it. Good luck on your journey!
  • Welcome! This is a great resource and full of encouraging, supportive people. I'll send you a friend request. I've been around awhile and would be happy to answer any questions (that I can).
  • I still have to lose the layer of pudge covering my abs too, but pilates has been the best thing for strengthening mine. I can tell there are muscles under there now...it gives me a little more motivation to keep peeling away the layers. (Bonus: I can tell a difference in my hips and thighs too) Here are a few to try...it…
  • That's great! It's good to remember all our progress can't be measured on the scale.
  • You look AMAZING Brandy! Congratulations!
  • I like a tea from Yogi called Get Regular. It's not as "aggressive" as some of the other teas, so sometimes it takes a day or two...but, I don't get the cramps and sweats that I sometimes get with the others. You might consider adding a stool softener, like Colace, to your daily intake. It's not a laxative, so you can take…
  • Well, they are very thorough! I'm so glad you've found such a good trainer...sounds like they're going to whip you into shape! Although if I were you, I'd still be proud of all the changes you've made. Keep us updated on the progress!
  • How are they measuring your fat percentage? Are they using calipers or a Bioelectrical impedance analysis? The Bioelectrical impedance analysis will measure total body water which is used to calculate body fat. I know that times I have had this done while PMSing, it was completely off...the extra fluid I was retaining was…
  • I am so sorry for your loss and I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I am sure your daughter was a very lucky girl to have a father like you. I can tell you have the utmost respect for women and that is a wonderful thing to see. Thank you for the kind words of encouragement.
