Talk to me about my big belly

I have had 2 children and both c-sections. I don't expect a 6 pack but would like to not look so pot bellyish. I am very close to my goal weight and am curious if those last 12ish pounds will really make much of a difference. I mean you need to get rid of the fat on your belly before you can have any sort of flatness right? I know you cannot target fat loss so I guess I am wondering is toning what will help me get rid of the belly? I am happy fully clothed but hate when I sit that I have to adjust my pants to hide the muffin top. I remember a time when I would lay on my stomach and my hips were further out then my belly but now with my belly if completely relax I could pass for 4 months pregnant ( well with the first...lol).

    Oh yeah, those last few pounds cover all the best stuff. On me anyway.

    I can't say about a c-section, but I suffered two deep cutting wounds on my lower stomach (long, long time ago). They went completely through my abbs. Other than the really cool scars, you can't see anything out of the ordinary with the muscle structure. Of course, if you look at the abs on fitness models some people got some funky looking stuff going on with their abbs.

    I should add;

    Posture has as much to do with a flat belly as BF%.

    I still have to lose the layer of pudge covering my abs too, but pilates has been the best thing for strengthening mine. I can tell there are muscles under there now...it gives me a little more motivation to keep peeling away the layers. (Bonus: I can tell a difference in my hips and thighs too) Here are a few to try...it can't hurt to try and strengthen them. http://pilates.about.com/od/pilatesmat/ss/FlatAbSeries.htm
