Wonderful progress. I can definitely see the difference in the way that shirt fits you.

I messed up very badly yesterday. I just decided that sometimes, "KFC happens", and moved on. Every day is a chance to start fresh.

I gained 2 lbs. recently and didn't log it - it's still there a week later so I know it must be real weight. I'm not going to log it, I'm just going to lose it and pick up where I left off. I know what I've been doing wrong.

I love cats, in fact my cat looks a lot like Missy. But I laughed till I cried anyway!

High cholestrol, triglycerides, blood pressure, insulin resistance, and 60 lbs. overweight. One day I felt little twinges in my chest and I knew it was only a matter of time till I had a heart attack, unless I lost the weight.

Thanks, everyone, for the info. Looks like I should cut back to 2000 until I talk to a doctor about it. I do take fish and flax oil already and it helps my ability to concentrate.

I just started 5000 IUs a few days ago and I think (maybe) I feel a slight difference. I'm going to give it a few weeks. I hope it works, so tired of losing 4 or 5 months out of my life every fall & winter. Have you tried a light box? I recently started that a few minutes a day also.

I also had a horrendously abusive childhood. I wasted years blaming it for everything that was wrong with my life, not because I was looking for an excuse, but because I genuinely BELIEVED that. I spent years suffering from major depression and my thinking was severely distorted. And I couldn't see that, that's what…

My husband insists on sleeping between me and the door. He's weird in restaurants too, he has to sit where he can see the entrance. It's some sort of protective instinct he has.

Based on what I see in your diary, you are anorexic. Please find a therapist who can help you because you are starving yourself to death.

Fantastic job! I can't wait for the update on his reaction.

Before I joined MFP I lost 16 lbs. by eating what I always had, just less of it. It included a lot of meat and refined carbs and not many fruits and veggies. I started eating healthier to help with blood sugar swings, extremely high triglycerides and cholesterol, and digestive issues, not losing weight. I actually don't…

I log everything. Seeing what a mess I made of some days helps me behave better later.

Definitely the sat fat. Too much of it is always, always bad. Also watch sodium, it makes you retain fluid. The sugar and carbs, depends on the source and how your body handles them. I'm always at least double over the sugar, but almost all of it comes from fresh fruit and I'm doing okay on weight loss. I would watch the…

Also, the day I stop feeling guilty everytime I ride because my poor horse is hauling around 60 extra pounds. She's not a young girl anymore. It may sound strange, but she's one of my prime motivations for losing weight.

I get SAD very badly in the winter and symptoms are severe cravings for carbs, along with extreme fatigue. I always gain. This year I plan to try 2-3000 IU daily Vit. D, a light box, and some herbal antidepressents (St. John's Wort, something like that.)

Do you get enough fat in your diet? I agree, try the olive oil, also magnesium tablets, probiotics, and stool softeners. I do olive, fish, and flaxseed oil and probiotics on a daily basis, the others as needed. Also, do you take calcium supplements? Many of them are constipating.

Thanks everyone. I usually have the fruit in the morning and have veggies in afternoon/evening. I guess I'll stick with it as long as I'm losing and feeling okay.

Diet pills are murder on your body. If I wanted to do that much damage to myself I'd just keep eating whatever I wanted.

13 lbs in 35 days is an average of a pound every 3 days - a little over 2 a week, which is nothing to be upset about. Some people might think it's too fast to lose, I'm pretty new at this so I can't advise you there. Are you upset that it isn't faster?
-
I think you hit the nail on the head.

I keep 85% dark chocolate around and have some a few times a week, but chocolate was never a problem for me. Everything that was ever a problem for me (mostly pretzels, chips, & sour cream), I had to stop buying, because if it's in the house I will succumb to temptation.

My dr. recently congratualated me on losing 16 lbs and when I told him I planned to lose at least 30 more he looked at me and said, "You don't need to lose that much, it may be too much." Hello? 30 more lbs. would put me at 159, still 15 lbs. more than the charts say is right for me. I think almost everybody has a very…

How about salad with full-fat dressing and a little cheese and nuts? I wish I could smother my salads in those things but I can't.

My sister-in-law died from complications of gastric bypass surgery. I'm terrified of being so heavy that I have to go that route one day.

bump. The topic interests me because I recently went 20 hours without food due to dr. office needing fasting blood work, then they screwed up and I had to wait and wait . . . . After 20 hrs. I was a little irritable but not hungry and certainly in no danger of passing out, much less dying. I've heard about fasting being…

That hunger is a bad thing. It's really a good thing. It means my stomach did its part in digestion and got a rest before I threw something else at it..

I carry water everywhere - you can buy a bottle of water at most places but so often my thought process was - "It costs the same as a soda so why not get some extra bang for my buck?" If I have it with me I'm too cheap to buy anything!
