Wednesday weigh in- PW: 172 CW: 169.5 I’m so happy to see the scale move  Even with traveling for work, I was able to make decent choices and exercise. Unfortunately, I caught a heck of a cold on the flight home and I’ve been down and out this week. No exercise, but at least I’m feeling better and should be back to…

Traveling for work this week, so weighed in a day early. CW: 173 +1 today- definitely discouraged since I’ve been making better choices  I’ll focus on the positives: Increased my run distance yesterday to 2.75 miles Working on making healthy choices- picked an apple over a cookie yesterday! Baby steps

I like either the cliff shot gels (razz, with caffeine) or the sport beans (again with caffeine). tried the Gu - was too thick for me. Tried the clif blocks, too chewy and got stuck in my teeth. I'll do a gel at 5, then split a packet of beans with half at 7 and the other half at 9. I'll do watered down gatorade for the…

another vote for the flip belt. I have one, and it's very secure. After putting your stuff in it you are supposed to flip it over so the openings are against your body and nothing can fall out.

Great post! Well said.

subscribing...I'm interested in what others have to say! I've been wondering the same thing.

Of course :) I kid...and try to flatter your vast knowledge of all that is running :)

Just catching up...seems to be lots of injuries going around! We should have an injured runners thread so we can commiserate on our injuries and share the vast knowledge on rehab we all gain from Dr. @Stoshew71 Love the beautiful scenery that every has posted. One of the reasons I love running! I'm an o-dark hundred am…

Go for it! As others have suggested, run slowly and no shame in run/walking. On most half marathons after mile 5 the water/aid stations are every mile. Take it one mile at a time - walk at every aid station to fuel and rest.

I agree with this. That's a really fast pace for just starting out. I also get the "I have to pee" feeling early on, and I've been running for a while now. I just ignore it and it goes away. Helps if I go right before running. If it doesn't clear up though and is painful, you might want to consult a doctor to make sure…

I had this earlier this year, was a result of Ilio-tibial band syndrome. My physio prescribed glute strengthening exercises (fire hydrants and clam shells were the most effective for me - both with resistance bands). Good luck! I was out of commission for 12 weeks almost exactly. Yours sounds way better than mine was, so…

PT said a touch of patellar tendonitis, mostly from having a weak core causing my back/hips to get out of alignment. He adjusted my back, and it feels 'better' but not 100%. I'm to concentrate on my core from now on, and my hips/glutes to keep the ITBS away, and my running form so I don't run too upright. So much to think…

@stoshew71- THANK YOU for the links! I'm going to go through all of them and I have an appt with the PT this afternoon. @SAfricaChick - that's what I'm hoping. I'll rest and use the elliptical (while working on whatever muscle group is weakest) and I'm pretty confidant that as long as I keep some kind of cardio up I'll be…
