I don't know how to say "sriracha".

I work in a university. My oldest ever student completed their doctorate at the age of 83. You're never too old.

Potatoes gonna... potate?

Get your pan as hot as you can. Coat your steak in about half a tablespoon of oil, and season to taste. Turn the heat down on your pan, and put the steak in immediately. It will take about three or four minutes each side (to get to medium; longer for well done, shorter for rare) and then leave to rest for about 5-10…

Speak to your doctor. People on internet fora are not likely to be qualified to give you the advice you need to protect your health and make a good recovery. Good luck.

You're doing brilliantly! Eight pounds in just over two weeks is a great loss. Don't feel disheartened, but the numbers aren't going to carry on dropping at that rate - with 140lbs to go, 2lbs a week is a sensible target to aim for. You've made a great start and it sounds like you're doing the right things, but it's going…

It depends on how you define maintaining. If your cheat day causes you to gain a pound, are you happy to weigh a pound heavier than you did before? If so, just carry on eating your TDEE of 2000. If you're unhappy, work it off over the next few days to get back to your maintenance weight.

Why not just make a cake from scratch? Most recipes don't include milk.

This.

What about fruit - something like raspberries?

Can you get your protein from eating food instead?

Okra. Calling it "ladies' fingers" doesn't help either. Also coconut water. Rancid.

Make sure you're using your machine correctly - put the cuff on your upper arm if that's what the instruction manual says to do. I'm not usually one to get on board the "Doctors Don't Know Anything" bandwagon, but I once saw a doctor who said my BP was too high, and when I got a second opinion, it turned out that younger…

I call troll... really funny troll! Did somebody search for "poop"?

This.

True. Reading in the morning (UK time) is pretty annoying because of all the spam flying around, but it coincides with my morning procrastination period. Various threads have discussed this, and quite a few international MFPers have offered to act as mods (or some kind of mod-like role with powers to remove spam threads)…

Could you look for a new job, or ask if you can take on additional/different responsibilities? We all need a change once in a while. I hope things look up for you.

Eggs, avocados, pulses?

OP, like me, is British and confused by measuring water in cups or oz. My water glass at work is slightly bigger than half a pint, and I count that as one cup. I'd count a 500ml bottle or a full pint glass as 2 cups, and the bottle I use when running is 750ml so I count that as 3 cups.

Generally, fruit/veg, protein and (healthy) fats will keep you feeling fuller for longer. Avoid things with lots of salt or sugar, as they generally just make you crave more.

I'd say yes, it counts as exercise, but I wouldn't bother to log it or eat back those calories. I'm very bad at letting things like this disrupt my planned exercise routine, and I should really snap out of it!

Yes. Don't weigh yourself multiple times a day, though - it is of no benefit and will drive you crazy if you let it. Just be consistent in your weigh-ins - a lot of people like to go for first thing in the morning, after going to the toilet but before eating breakfast. Always use the same scale, in the same spot. I find it…

You still lost, though? Well done, you! Weight loss isn't a linear process, and it's quite common for it to fluctuate from week to week so don't feel disheartened. You're doing fine - just keep on keeping on!
-
You are freakin' brilliant.

Wait for it to defrost. Otherwise you'll be weighing the ice and the meat, rather than just the meat.

Do you have a source for this information?

I live in Bristol but spend quite a lot of time in Dinas Powys as my in-laws are there. Feel free to add me!

I've got a WeightWatchers one which came from Argos about five years ago. It does stone, pounds and kilos (I set it to pounds and it weighs to the nearest tenth of a pound) and it works on carpet as it has special feet.

It does depend on which shop you go to; try M&S, their sizes are pleasingly massive! The shops aimed at younger women (e.g. New Look, H&M) seem to cut their sizes really small - I'm a 14 in most places but can't fit into a 16 in H&M.

If it was accurate enough for your weightloss stage, why would it not be accurate enough for maintenance? Just play around with your calorie intake and measure yourself regularly.
