Squarely a morning person - today is a baseline test day - the Canadian Army Fitness check - 5km, 2 mins of push ups, 4 mins of sit ups - aiming for 21min, 60, and over 100. Wish me luck!

I'm 44 and have done a VO2 Max test to determine my actual max HR, and it was 194. So the 220-your age is a rough guide. I have had my HR up over 200, and like you was concerned, spoke to an MD and he assured me my "body would not be able to sustain that HR for long, and would stop you in order to protect your heart..."...…

I run 50+km a week and have done 3 marathons and lots of half-marathons. I do everything you do before a run, except for the run with friends. Just keep at it...? Make sure you eat and hydrate well in the 2-3 days before you run, it's not just about what you eat beforehand.

I am Canadian but live in KS and am told I don't have a Canadian accent... Feel free to add me if you like!

EVO with rosemary and garlic.... or oregano and garlic.... or basil and parmesan and garlic.... delightful!

Born in London, ON but have lived from Chilliwack, BC to Moncton, NB and everywhere between. An Army guy from an Army family. Now posted to Leavenworth, KS. Happy Canada Day!

Now craving a Coffee Crisp, Cherry Blossom and a butter tart, or two. But why has no one mentioned Lululemon? Love how it makes all women just the right kind of curvy! (From a Canuck living in KS)

Love running, have run 3 fulls and many halves. 1/2 PR is 1:42, and won't say my full, but over 4... Run the 1/2 regularly, a few a year, last one was 20 May!

Me too... it's about moderation. Having a drink a day (one serving) has no longterm health costs, in fact many researchers will tell you it's healthy (depending on what you drink). I have an ounce and a half of Crown Royal with diet mix, and perhaps on Friday two. But I don't binge or overindulge. One bad side effect of…

Ran a half marathon and am now smoking some ribs... so it's going well! But I am a Canadian living in the US, so my long weekend comes next weekend... :)
-
You deserve an MFP Hall of Fame Award of some type.... very well done!
-
Smoked ribs baby! Ran a half-marathon today, replacing some of those spent calories! Out there smoking as I type, about 2 hours to go! Mmmmmm Hmmmm...

Boy will he be pleased!

A good tactic, one I use sometimes too. It seems to work. Suggestions: 1 Cup of eggs is about 5 eggs, you might want to cut back a couple Spread those calories (from breakfast) out over your other meals Find the other 355 calories (assuming MFP has already reduced your intake for weight loss) and eat what you burn! I burn…

If you measure it dry and then divide it by the number of portions cooked (ie: cook 2 x 2 oz portions and divide in half for serving) it'll work out...

I too use the recipe function, it allows for nutritional breakdown/tracking as well. I think it's excellent and have about 4 pages of recipes that we use frequently. beattie1's points are all very valid. The other option is to look up "homemade carrot muffin" or whatever, and see if someone has added them to the database.…

When it's warm out, daily. When it's cool (like now) 3x... the gym on other days.

Depends on intensity, weight etc, but I average about 14 cal/minute in a typical class with my HR in the 75-85% range. I use a Polar Fit11 to track.
-
More time in the gym to compensate or, if you cannot, then exercise portion control. I too love to cook, and eat. And some recipes are high in calories. I exercise strict portion control, or train more... good luck!
