  • I think I just don't trust myself to cook too much. Frozen and prepacked food is portioned and much harder to overeat. Friday was a junk day for me, and my protein was terrible because I was trying to avoid meat. But I was somewhat better the rest of the week, I cooked some chicken breasts, and had a ton of cabbage and…
  • Thanks for the advice. I know I could be doing better. And I'm not looking for strangers on the internet to lie to me and tell me I'm doing fabulous, when I'm not. 1700 calories is the biggest deficit MFP would calculate for me ~2lbs/week. So I guess I need to tighten it up on my own. I do 5000 steps minimum plus 20-30…
  • I'm afraid logging might be where I am going wrong. That or my sugar/sodium intake. I just noticed the milk I log doesn't have the sugar in it's nutritional info. Also I ate a 14 serving size bag of chips over the week and only logged 10 servings. Even though I measured it out, I know those 4 servings didn't just…
  • I know, I'm here for the long haul. I'm down 75 lbs from my SW. I just expected to see some movement the first week back. But I'll take your advice to heart and be more patient.
  • A lot of the paleo boards have some good recommendations for low sugar/carb options. Put a nut butter in your morning oatmeal, or go for eggs instead, etc. Personally I don't have a problem with unrefined sugars, but if your concerned about it just swap your fruits for more protein instead. Good luck.
  • I don't really do energy drinks, but if you are interested you should probably check out the ingredients. I have included a short list of other popular energy options. HerbaLife Liftoff® contains caffeine, ginseng, ginkgo biloba, guarana, and taurine, Rockstar Energy® contains caffeine, ginseng, ginkgo biloba, guarana, and…
  • I don't think you would need to do it overnight. Just put some good dry rub on it and throw it in the oven with the fat side up for 3-5 hours at about 300 F. Just make sure the pan your are using has sides, as brisket's will produce some juice, either that or use an oven bag.
  • I would settle on if you could make Veggies smell like a loaf of French bread. I don't even really care about the taste, but darn I can't even go shopping when the bakery is open at my local grocer.....smells sooooo good!!
  • Sides: Small cups of cold Quinoa or Pasta salads Hummus with pretzels or carrots is a good addition if she'll eat it. Veggie Packs with Dip (Tomatos/Carrots/Celery/etc) Tortilla Chips with Salsa Fresh Fruit Flavored Applesauce Hard Boiled Eggs Cheese Sticks Entrees: Cucumber Sandwiches Tuna or Salmon Mixes Premade Salads…
  • Here is a spreadsheet I made for Monday Weigh-ins, if anyone wants to use or add to it feel free! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvO13NtolTwadG83WDNycDhhWFRmRC1OdWNMNWUzSGc
  • Thank you guys so much for all the thoughtful replies. I am blown away by how supportive everyone has been. I think this board has restored some of my faith in humanity. Thanks again, I read every single reply, and am truly grateful for all the support. I think I will bookmark this page and come back to reread it right…
  • I already spoke to the professor about this. His thought is in the real world people don't get to pick perfect patients, so they don't get to pick them in lab either. As for how I feel during this, he could care less. Sorry, I guess I wasn't really looking for solutions, just venting. I know that I am just going to have to…
  • You sound like fun! I could use some fun friends on this site. The funnier it is, the more likely I am to keep logging in, right? I am 25, no kids here. But I have a crazy enough lifestyle without them. 2nd year in a professional program, after taking 5 years off school. If you want to see posts where I try to explain how…
  • That would have made for an epic thread. "So if I only take half I should still be under goal right?"
  • I am down! I need to ramp up my efforts. Let's do it!
  • My nutritionist suggest them too, and everyone has stories good and bad about it. But here is what it boils down to for me. Straight from the FDA. HCG Diet Products Are Illegal http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm281333.htm When the FDA says it is illegal and ANYONE tries to get me to take it...well I would…
  • Compare what you ate today, to what you would have usually eaten at on a dinner out. You're making life long choices here. You can't avoid restaurants forever, but look at how far you have come! You might be over today, but don't let that get you down. Just focus on the positive and pick it back up tomorrow! Good Luck!
  • it's also great with protein powder and seltzer too!
  • It's great with plain pasta and a touch of butter with salt, I also like it on spaghetti! If you don't mind the texture it is great with diced bell pepper, corn, shredded cheese, and crackers. To disguise it a bit. Mix it into a jello fruit salad. Sugar free lime jello, pineapple, walnuts, and cottage cheese all mixed…
  • As a professional student, I have lots of experience picking lunch out of junk. Favorites: protein/milk drink and a banana tube of nuts and water rice krispy treat and coffee egg and cheese breakfast taco (avoid the meats, and the potato if they're fried) Prepackaged cheese and baked chips Prepacked hard boiled eggs (check…
  • gin and peach fresca (or diet tonic), it is so good!
  • Sorry, this isn't meant as a rude comment but I do feel where some of the posters are coming from. From my personal experience having attention brought to your weight at such a young age really can have negative effects. My Mom was very hands on, she never called me fat, but from a very young age...probably pre-elementary,…
  • I used the Butterball Thanksgiving Turkey one, it seemed to be more accurate sodium wise.
  • My Thanksgiving lunch/dinner was 500 calories, but I am saving room for 2 pieces of pie so +600 for me. I'll still be under calorie for the day (barely), and I don't regret it! Pumpkin pie is my weakness and twice a year treat!
  • I can tell you what not to eat! Today I went to Panera bread, and thought I would get a light lunch so I just order a side of mac and cheese. Figured it was a bit of a splurge but did not realize how much! 500 calories and 30 grams of fat...for a side!!!! Best of luck with your choices, and always check first!
  • I edited the original recipe to reflect, that my syrup of choice is the COUNTRY MAPLE not the BREAKFAST MAPLE. The Breakfast one is just too thin, like a lot of the store brands I have tried.
  • I actually buy it online, it's about $7 a bottle. I wish I knew a store that carried it, one of the people who shared this with me found it in the diabetic section of her grocery store, but so far no luck for me!
  • I am tempted to upload a photo, but I can't find a picture of the whole pie! It goes to fast! LOL
