Londoneer, back to MFP after 2 knee surgeries, 6 months inactivity and gaining 10kg... Looking for new friends and some touch love to keep me going

I use Garmin Vivofit and only rely on its readings if during workouts I pair it with HRM. Without HRM any activity tracker is nothing more but an overpriced pedometer.

London, baby! And always welcoming new awesome friends. :)

Haha, ain't he a walking talking Waitrose stereotype, right? Well, I live in London, where everything is badly overpriced, but if you don't mind frozen food, you can always make some savings. 400g of fresh chicken fillets at Morrisons is £4-5, but 1kg of frozen is £3,99. A small cauliflower is £1,5, a bag of 1kg frozen --…

I used to wear trainers, but not anymore, now it's barefoot all the way, but for hygienic purposes, I wear these: http://www.inov-8.com/new/global/Product-View-Evoskin-Black.html -- love them to bits!

Consult it with your physio (I can't stress enough how important that is!), but I think spinning would help, especially if you're willing to invest in SPD shoes. Also make sure to exercise your hamstrings, so you keep strength in your knee -- butt bridges, hip thrusts, deadlifts etc. will keep your legs in shape and may…

I didn't do C25K but started a very similar run/walk program some years ago. It didn't help me lose weight and I'm still looking to blindness more eagerly than to running. What it did do, however, was to turn me from a person who couldn't run more than 100m without spitting out her own lungs into a person who can now run…

Jameson, cause Irish and cheap.

It's kinda rude as most of the time it's like asking "What's wrong with you, why nobody wants you?" It's an awkward question for a first date, speed or not. Oh, and I think I'll start answering "Cause I'm a *kitten*", like question, like answer. Me likes.

There's a plan on official TM site: http://toughmudder.com/tough-mudder-boot-camp-training/ Tough Mudder is no joke. You have time and if you apply brains to it, it's entirely possible to turn your life around in a year time. Set realistic goals, work your way up slowly, don't get discouraged. Nobody gets from a couch…

I think that "drink gallons of water" is beeswax. Drink enough water (or any drinks) to stay hydrated, and don't force yourself to drink any more, no point, unless your goal is to spend half a day in a bathroom or, in extreme case, damage your kidneys. Myself, I can always tell by my lips if I'm well hydrated.

I agree, but read this: http://impruvism.com/clean-eating/ So you see, what you consider healthy I may consider awful and the other way around. And that's why I eat what makes me feel good and don't listen to what's currently considered "healthy". I remember some years ago margarine with phytosterols was "it" and…

Rollers are actually damn hard, if you decide on that, you better try it out before buying. I have a Tacx Satori Pro, I love it. It's a very basic one (don't go for the virtual reality ones! -- it's crap, hardware wise it's very demanding, looks like late 80' games and requires monthly fees, so the servers are practically…

I don't use HRM anymore, cause I never remember it, but yes, I was often in 170-180 zone, especially when doing sprint/run splits. It's probably better for unconditioned people to stay in lower zones, heart is a muscle and has to be worked gradually like any other, so if you're a beginner or have a heart condition, you…

Obviously, you have excellent taste in music. When I hear "The Night" I can't help but rave. Disturbed (Device is pretty good, too).

One Direction. The only direction I can think of is away from that shizz.

As long as you're getting up from your couch and run -- you're doing awesome job. Your times will improve, don't worry about it, Rome wasn't built in a day.

All covered with sweat and used motor oil... HELL YES!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_eating_syndrome I suggest you consult a doctor about it.

Shallow or not, I know for a fact that nice muscular bodies don't come for free, but as a result of hard work, discipline and dedication. And incidentally, these are the features I'm looking for in a man. So I hear you, girl!

But before you join, do a research on the box of your choice. Since CrossFit became new it, boxes started popping up like crazy and filled with "trainers" who clearly got their certificates from thin air. I have many friends doing CF and I'm planning to start myself soon (there was no box where I lived past three years, so…

I honestly don't get this thread. "Oh, look at me not logging all my calories and not knowing what TDEE is, I'm such a joyful rebel"... Seriously? I could care less if you log anything at all. This isn't instagram, this isn't for show off. I log my ALL my calories and I do that FOR MYSELF. So I know what I'm doing right…

Quite frankly, I don't think this is going to do anything. Add calorie cycling to it, lower carbs on low carbs day, lower protein to 1g/lb. If 1600 kcal is your TDEE -x%, try doing ie. 4 days on 1400, two days on 2000 (high carb refeed), two days 1450. Cycle calories the way it's still 1600/day, but spread unevenly over…

French soft cheese. One thing that will forever prevent me from going 100% Paleo... I can mentally condition myself against pretty much any food, I just keep repeating "It's bad for you" in my head until I believe it, but soft cheese is a whole different story...

Yes, hence me posting it. Maybe some people will read it and realise how ridiculous it is to blame their husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, coworkers, CIA, NSA and aliens for the fact that they themselves can't put the fork down.
