  • I'm still breastfeeding my little one at 17m, and I have lost 10lbs in the last 3months. It's definitely possible, but sometimes, just like you, am I ravenous! I listen more to my body now when I am breastfeeding, as there are days when I know that my daughter has eaten more and therefore I've used more to create the milk.…
  • Cold lunchtime run today, winter's definitely coming in Toronto. December 3 - 13.67 (run) December 5 8.07 (run) December 6 - 6.00 (run) Total 27.74. Left 72.26
  • Please can I be in!! I've only just seen this. December 3 - 13.67 (run) December 8.07 Total 21.74 - left 78.26.
  • I got a camping mat then I can use it for camping and working out , it also tends to be a little softer under you as well than a yoga mat which i think are a bit thinner.
  • Originally from Lancashire (Northern England), moved to Surrey (Southern England) when I was younger but still retained some of the Northern twang. Have since moved to Canada where I am told that I could read people the phone book or reel off expletives and apparently people would still love my accent. According to my Mum…
  • Monday started with a red wine headache from Sunday, and Tuesday the headache continued! Tonight = 0.5 glass of red wine. Thursday we go to bottle 30 bottles of white wine  I am so looking forward to Thursday, now I've just got to get through hot yoga tomorrow.
  • I think that people are just used to seeing you bigger and this a big change. You look great! As my Mum once said to me, people will tell you if they think you look to skinny but not too big, if you like your weight, or even want to go down to 130-125 do what feels good to you.
  • I can't believe that I never came across this group before!! Definitely a glass (or two) of wine a night girl - but I normally have the calories left over for it, so I don't feel bad. I loved that someone else uses the 'saran wrap over the glass of wine and back in the fridge' tactic - my husband laughs at me for that!
  • I live in Toronto and run year round. By the end of a winter running in snow and slush your cardio will be so much better for the spring season. Make sure you have a couple of good layers (thermal base layer, reasonable mid layer and a good windbreaker jacket, depending on how cold it is). My hands heat up crazy fast but…
  • Toronto, Canada, but originally from Lancashire, England.
  • I use Yaktrax when it's compacted snow or icy, when it's fresh snow I tend to just go out without them. My husband has another kind, which are more like little picks on the bottom. I'd definitely get some that fasten over the top of the shoe so you don't lose them in a snow bank!
  • During marathons I usually have to pee towards the end, but just hold it in so as not to damage my time. Once (and this will be a TMI, sorry in advance!) I need a #2 from about the half way point and held it in, I was in pain for the following two days! I do NOT recommend this
  • I use a Nathan water belt with two bottles (I lost my 4 bottle one :grumble: ) I know people who have the fuelbelt and a lot of them struggle with trying to put the bottles back in, especially on colder days when they have gloves on. For longer runs and trail running I use a Salomon XT Wings 10+3 Vest.
  • Thanks everyone. I've been doing the 30DS, Mari Windsor pilates and Christine (something or other!) Yoga for Runners. I'll have to take a look at some of these others. I really like the idea of doing workouts on youtube, something new everyday :)
  • D5L2 done yesterday and the v lifts and army moves are still hurting - when she says "You'll start to feel this in your shoulders" all I can think is "Start? I already am!!" Does anyone else take time off this during the week or does everyone do it every day? Chelsea_M - I have a pilates video that I love by Mari Windsor.…
  • I don't find the strap bothers me apart from when I don't use Body Glide or some other anti-chafing product under it. When I don't use anti-chafing products and am out for a long run (2+ hours) I tend to get chafed under the strap.
  • Not a phrase per se, but the use of the word "literally" as in "I literally wanted to die". Did you? Did you really want to die? No, I thought not!!!!! And the fact that when I use the word, I have to preface it by saying that I mean the word literally, quite literally.
  • Teaching English in Japan, we ended up sitting next to each other for a lesson and my student didn't show up, so I listened in on his lesson and thought "Hmmm, sounds nice!". He's from Canada and I'm from England and now it's 6 years later (married for 3.5 months).
  • Well done, that's great! Mine was last night when I measured my hips and have taken just over an inch off in 3 weeks and 0.75 inches off my waist. The scales don't agree, but the tape measure is my new best friend!
  • D3L2 and my shoulders are SORE. I prefer the cardio of this level, but the shoulder exercises are hurting! The walkout to the pushups are a nice hamstring stretch. Think I might stick at this level passed the 10 days, until I don't want to cry when doing the chair squats with V lifts! Have a great weekend everyone!
  • This is my 3rd attempt at actually doing all 30 days of the 30DS! Determined to stick with it. Level 2 yesterday and I find it harder than level 1. I think my body had finally got somewhat used to the strength training exercises in level 1 and is now wondering wth I am asking it to do now! Which tells me it was probably a…
  • I work part-time at a running store and I definitely recommend going to a place where they know what they're doing. Shoes are the most important thing in your running/exercising wardrobe. Asics and Adidas generally tend to be a cushier shoe - someone I work with likens them to running on marshmallows. They both are a…
  • I store it on the coffee table, but the husband likes it either stored in the fridge or freezer.
  • Like someone else said, you may be starting out too fast. Although that said, running isn't the easiest of sports to get over the inital beginning hump. Stick at it, try going slower to begin with, and incorporate walks in earlier to the run so that you don't burn out as quickly. Good luck!
  • I never gained weight on the Estrogen pill i was on for 10 years, but the Doctor shifted me to a Progesterone pill (Diane) and I gained 15lbs in 3 months!! Funnily enough, I'm off it now. I think it varies from person to person, but for me the Progesterone definitely increased my weight. Nothing else was different in my…
  • As long as you're not switching to a completely new brand of shoe you should be ok. If you're thinking of switching up shoe make/model I'd wait until after. You don't want to find out that it's the wrong kind of shoe and it hurt you and all of your training goes to waste. It can be a treat for completing the 5km.
  • Polar are a really good brand to buy. We had a presentation by a Polar rep at work the other day and the tools and gadgets that some of the higher level watches have are great. One of the perks of some of the watches (higher level) have is that at a later date, and as long as it's compatible, you can buy a footpod for…
  • On the second cardio section of level one she gets you doing stationary punches. She says that it's a great option for people with lower leg injuries/issues. Maybe just do that for the cardio section if you find the other cardio exercises hurt your knees.
  • Take to running outside, then you don't know how far you've gone. Like someone else said running is a mental sport and if your body "expects" a walk break you'll be more likely to take one even if you don't need one. You can use a website like mapmyrun.com to map a route so you know the distance.
