  • I stopped too after a month of maintenance (though I actually lost a little more). The biggest deal was weighing myself less often, I try to restrict to once a week now. It's been three months and I've lost a further 9lbs so I guess I've got this under control!
  • I started in Feb at 140lbs. I'm 5ft 4 and was finding UK12 trousers tight and uncomfortable. I'm now 117lbs and I look like this -> every morning! I'm wearing mostly UK10 because that is what I have, but I could buy size 8 in some stores/styles if I was shopping for more clothes. I used 5:2 to lose the weight and…
  • I'm a teacher and one of the mums said to me at school "I saw you out running, you're really fast!" It's not true, but I like to think I look fast even though I'm not
  • I get that too, I'm 118lbs and 5ft 4. I'm still heavier than I was before I had kids so I say "No, I'm doing great actually, I'm back at the right weight for me and I feel much better about myself." Aged 18 I was 105lbs so 118 is much healthier!
  • I remember very clearly how long it took me to become a runner...the first time I tried to run 4k non stop it was incredibly hard and I'd been working up to it for a couple of months by then! I did a 5k Race for Life, set off too fast and had to walk from 4k to 4.5k then ran to finish. This was about 10 years ago! I've had…
  • Hunger comes in waves, it does not appear and then build until satiated. It will go again. I agree that if you have undereaten and you are following a calorie restricted diet, you should eat. There are loads of people on here doing 5:2, alternate day and other types of intermittent fasting. Hunger is normal, bearable and…
  • So my month graph says I burned 60000 cals in the last month and ate 31000 calories (I'm doing 5:2). Now that I'm maintaining, MFP has my TDEE as 1600. I'm trying to stick to that, don't eat my exercise cals. Does that sound about right?
  • You should eat at your TDEE on non-fast days, there is no need for further calorie restriction. Having said that, I would often burn 500-600 cals and not eat them back! I lost 19.5lbs in 11 weeks on 5:2 and am now maintaining (well, trying to...lost 1lb this week!)
  • Well done, what a fantastic feeling! I've been doing 5:2 for two months and have lost 15lbs - it's a great way of eating! Know what you mean about all the unwearable clothes too!
  • What an inspiration! My sister is nearly 50 and has been overweight her whole life. I wish she could read your story and believe that changing that is possible.
  • Hi, I'm in the same boat as you, not much to lost but not much progress either! Will send you a friend request, maybe we can support each other?
  • I didn't earn this name by being speedy! Average 5mph right now, building it up to 6mph, which is plenty!
  • If you're eating Alpen or similar muesli products, you really need to get the no added sugar versions...for Alpen, the calorie content is almost the same but you save yourself 5g of sugar per 100g.
  • Another teacher here, in UK...you can't have too many friends so feel free to add me. I gave up biscuits/cookies for Lent and have slipped back into old habits, so gave myself a stern talking to the other day and I am focussing on unprocessed foods, no sugar, ready for wearing my bikini in Dubai in two months' time
  • Wow, you look amazing. I'm very impressed by your dedication and achievement. Have you thought about losing the beard so you can show off your chin?
  • Right, I have cut out all processed foods and especially sugar. I had salad with my lunch and my dinner! I have been home all day, so no make-up, and I have cleansed my chin about six times to dry it out a bit. I'm not on the pill, and won't use it, so my hormones will have to carry on doing their own thing! Hope I will…
  • Another (casual) runner here...feel free to add me :)
  • Just recently I have stopped mixing fats and carbs (other than veg/salad) at the same meal, stopped snacking, stopped eating processed foods. I feel miles better.
  • Very impressive, well done!
  • Be patient...weekly weight loss targets are better in theory than practice! 4lbs is a good start.
  • Glad you've seen sense and joined MFP instead of WW! Another runner here, feel free to add me :)
  • I plan on being a bit more sensible than last time I had a good weight loss...that morning I did a naked happy dance in the bathroom and fell backwards into the bathtub!!
  • I also have some M&S £12.50 jeans that are a good fit, but for Christmas I got some Levi curve ID jeans which are fab. Apparently they make my bum look amazing! My partner told me that, not the shop assistant, in case you were wondering... If you go into a Levis store they will measure you properly and tell you which sort…
  • If you research the role that insulin plays in your body, and then understand why it is called 'the fattening hormone', the last thing you will want to do is keep eating! It is better to eat three times a day, or try intermittent fasting...if you are always feeding your body, why will it burn fat?
  • I was 138 and aiming for 123...I've been less but don't think 115 is realistic or desirable now (I'm 5ft 4 and have two children). Currently 129 thanks to a slight xmas gain! Feel free to add me.
  • My BMR is 1229...if I cut down to 1200 that 29 calorie deficit is not really going to have an impact, is it?! I set my calories at 1300 and it has taken me three months to lose 4kg, I'm fine with that. I plan to lose another 2kg and I don't mind if it takes another three months. I eat at least half my exercise calories and…
  • I grew up in Plymouth, but don't rate it apart from being near Dartmoor and the coast. I love Bath, would like to see more of Newcastle and Edinburgh, and have York on my 'must see' list. I've lived in London longer than anywhere else and I'm very happy here - the only place I want to move to is Dubai!
  • I hope to: Take my multivitamins and iron every day Get on top of my workload AND studying Get back into running (need a jogging buddy!)
  • Log it, enjoy it and celebrate it! My weight has dropped quickly over the last two weeks, compared to the previous two months, so I get where you're coming from. No harm in continuing if you want to...perhaps calculate your BMI and use that to help you work out where to aim for?
  • I think it's partly genetic...my calves are slender even when I've been running regularly. My 14yo daughter has her dad's frame, not mine, and her calves are way bigger than mine. She's also 2 inches taller than me already!
