  • I've learned to avoid the dairy in Hispanic foods. Instead of sour cream and cheese on foods, opt for cilantro and pico de gallo. I still eat corn tortillas and in fact one of my favorite breakfasts is breakfast tacos with one egg, a serving of meatless breakfast crumbles, and top it with broccoli slaw and salsa. As far as…

Ended up buying 6 growlers of this stuff. Leinenkugel: Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale Goose Island: Matilda Black Sheep Brewery: Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale (Brown…

  • I've had friends who have tried the following: Zumba Fitness Total Body Transformation System Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred P90x & P90 Insanity Billy Blanks Tae Bo Skoggs System Kettlebells Yoga for Cardio I personally have used the Skoggs System Kettlebells DVDs and they're pretty good, but it's completely up to you what…
  • As far as I know, there is not. Most sites do the same thing. The reason behind that is that for healthy weight loss, you should lose no more than 2 lbs a week. Hence, on days that you work out, you should be eating a bit more to make up for the fact that you're burning much more. This will help build more muscle/lean mass…
  • I've had the Kashi - Heart to Heart Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, but ever since I've started eating freshly made steel-cut oatmeal, there's no contest. I usually have my oatmeal with bananas.

  • I bought a Pro-form Precision XT off of Woot for $20. And, although the calorie burn counter maybe way off, the chest strap works fine and monitors my heart rate very well. They have specials like that all the time on different sites online and as long as you don't care about the calories burned, the HRMs are usually good.
  • I'm no expert, but there's a few things that could be happening: 1. How much water are you drinking throughout the day? If you're not getting enough, it could be an issue. 2. Are you spreading your meals out throughout the day or eating a couple of large meals? You should be eating smaller meals more frequently throughout…
  • I think that first day I was retaining a lot of water because I lost 4 pounds that first day. A few days prior to starting the challenge, though I cut my sodium intake down to 1/4 of what it was and I was flushing out water like crazy. After drastically cutting down the sodium, I find I'm not as hungry or thirsty as I used…
  • On Cardio, search for Strength Training. It's kind of the catch-all.

  • Exactly what puppywalker said. The first 2 weeks that I changed the way I ate, I had headaches all the time. But, after those first couple of weeks, the headaches and nausea went away. The only other thing that stayed for a couple more weeks was the extreme carb and sugar craving. I'm 5 weeks in now and I no longer crave…
  • I feel your pain... I've had knee injuries that still trouble me to this day and I'm limited to cycling and walking. I've been trying squats to help strengthen the knees, but I get sharp pains and all-around soreness if I overdo it. I've been using kettlebells to help add to my cardio and strength training.
  • Definitely don't give up! When I first started, I only lost 2lbs a week, but I kept it up and a few weeks later, I had lost 5lbs in one week. Don't get disheartened when you lose any amount of weight. Just think of it as exactly that: you're losing weight! Even if I've only lost 1 pound, it's 1 pound in the right…
  • I started last night and managed to get 186 done. (110 within 10 minutes and then during my regular KB workout got another 76 in). Unfortunately, my arms feel like jello this morning. But, I'm going to keep it up and see if I can at least get another 120-150 in tonight.
  • I had a friend who was on P90X and after a while he plateaued and started getting bored with it as well, so he switched up his routine and started using kettlebells (specifically, the Skogg System). He lost 20 lbs a few months after switching it up. Now, he alternates between P90X and KB every couple of months.
  • Welcome fellow 30-something! I just started on this site, but I've been on other sites like this and let me just say that they are definitely a help. If you're looking for running, might I suggest trying C25K, which stands for Couch to 5K. You can get info on it here: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml The…
  • Count me in!!! A friend of mine started me on kettlebells about a month ago using the Skogg System. He uses 6 main exercises with the kettlebell: Swing, Clean, Clean and Jerk, High Pull, Squat, and Snatch. Those Squats and High pulls are killers... I like that he explains that the High Pull is like an elbow strike to…
