I'll accept all new friends too.

:-) That's why it's called a "Beer Run".

Kettlebells. Tracy Reifkind's book "The Swing" is a good place to start. artofstrength.com dragondoor.com lots of good info on youtube

Tracy Reifkind's book "The Swing" is great (check your library). She also posts workouts on youtube pretty regularly. There is also a ton of info on artofstrength.com and dragondoor.com. For dvds, I've got a set from Iron Core Kettlebells (Sarah Lurie) which is good. The set of 4 dvds is pretty reasonably priced on ebay I…

So, I recently got a pair of Vibram''s Five Fingers. I love them - they are so comfortable! But - I am now sitting in the recliner with my leg wrapped since I pulled my calf muscle today while running. It's my own fault - inexperience and impatience are a bad mix. I tried to go too far too soon. I'll still use them for…

Just tell them - "Bite me, I'm doing what works for me.". And by the looks of your ticker - it is working. Wow! 4 lb to go!

I use anywhere from a 15 to 30 lb. depending on what I am doing. windmills and overhead squats (which I so totally suck at) 15 snatches, high pulls - 20 one hand swings, alternating swings - 25 two hand swings - 30 We recently bought a 40 lb and I've used it a couple times for two hand swings but it really tires me out…

Not much. If you are tall though, you need a high enough ceiling if you are going to be doing snatches. I have 2 cow mats from a farm supply store in my basement for my kettlebell area. They are 4' * 6' each, and there is plenty of room for 2.

As others have said - pay attention to form. There is a lot of information out there - some good, some bad. An certified kettlebell trainer will give you better information than a celebrity trainer who is trying to cash in on the popularity of kettlebells. A few things to check out: artofstrength.com - lots of free videos…

There are usually lots of workout dvds available at the library. I'd also recommend Tracy Reifkind's book "The Swing" and a kettlebell when the funds will allow it. She has a lot of videos available free on youtube as well.

Update - wore my new shoes for my workout this morning. With kettlebells - they make your feet feel just connected with the floor. Loved it! Did a short run on the treadmill since reading on the Vibram website to transition slowly. They have a very different feel when running so I can see the need for the slow transition.…

I just bought the Komodosport LS about an hour and a half ago. It was a complete impulse buy as I had just begun researching them and was just going into the store to try them on. They are the most comfortable shoes I can remember ever wearing - and they were 1/2 price! So I am now wiggling my very happy toes.

I work in a home office, so I propped my keyboard on top of a box so that I can work standing up.

Friend request sent. Anyone else from this thread who would like to add me please do. I'm 45, and have been here for a while. I had a lot of success here last year, and I've some progress with strength and endurance lately, but I then I end up making stupid food decisions which leave me right at the same weight. The more…

They opened up more spots on August 18th. My team is switching from the 19th to the 18th (wave 33 @ 4:15) so maybe I'll see some of you there!

Kettlebell swings, biking, and something I never thought I would say - running.

I recently got a 40 lb. from New York Barbells. The handle is not as thick as the cap barbell kettlebells and it's wider so it's much easier to use for 2 handed swings. (There is a picture in the "Show me your bells" thread.) Their shipping rates from their ebay store are very reasonable - if it fits in a USPS flat rate…

Check the library, youtube and netflix - great ways to try before you buy!

I think you will find many people with different physical limitations. The trick is to focus on what you can do, not what you can't. For me anyway, I spent years saying that I couldn't do things because of my knees. When I had arthroscopic surgery about 7 years ago the surgeon came in and said "Your knee was a mess". He…

Lovin the hummus! Made 2 new batches today. Started with the basic recipe (I even had the tahini this time), and in one batch added fresh basil, rosemary and oregano. Yummy! In the other batch I used the basil and oregano, and then added a pinch of cayenne pepper, and giardinera (hot peppers, carrots and cauliflower…

Happy Day! Got a new one today.

Like. I was thinking that I'm a jigglogger, since I still have too much jiggle in my jog.

That looks fabulous!

Roasting with a bit of olive oil and fresh herbs. Rosemary is good with potatoes and carrots. Fresh basil - awesome with so many things. Oregano, savory, thyme, sage etc. I have a black thumb for growing things indoors but our herb garden outside has been getting better every year. Probably because it's in a nice sunny…
