  • Do you plan on tracking calories for the rest of your life? Bring the scale. BUT if you plan on one day being able to live a normal life and still maintain your body, then read further: Ditch the food scale for now. Listen to your body instead. - Eat slow. Actually ENJOY the food. - Stop eating when you feel satisfied.…
  • You described me perfectly. I was the EXACT same way. I was truly a diet-Nazi. I decided to go into maintenance in June, but I didn't relax on my dieting and get used to the idea of maintaining weight until these past two weeks. You just have to push yourself, get out of your comfort zone while also continuing to make…
  • I have the exact same problem. I lost majority of my weight the summer going into my Junior year of highschool, but I kept losing through my first semester of college. I went from 187 lbs to 127 lbs by running and eating around 1200 calories. I ended up having "skinny" body with clothes on, but like you said, once the…
  • Might be what she is eating. Is she eating a clean diet, or is it full of sodium, processed foods, etc.. cause many of those foods can cause bloating. Eat clean and drink all the water you can.
  • That's awesome! Congrats! :D I really need to get on this program lol
  • I don't know guys, badgering people who complain about reaching 1200 calories isn't much more helpful than badgering someone about their weight.. I was one of those "trouble reaching 1200 calories" people. We're usually just misguided, used to eating so little, etc.. When you're eating that little, you're usually also…
  • I believe it, because I crave crunchy foods a lot and that's normally what leads to my snacking. Whenever I snack, it's not usually because of boredom. I get very bad cravings for crunchy textures, and unfortunately that's all of your chips, pretzels, popcorn, cereals, etc.. I have to snack on carrots and lettuce now :(
  • Eat your NET calories. That's the whole point of exercise - so you can eat more and still lose weight, otherwise you'd be driving yourself crazy because you'd be CONSTANTLY hungry. Trust me, I used to eat under 1200 calories and I was a mad-woman. If your goal is 1300 and you burn, let's say 400. You can eat those 1300…

  • I eat that stuff EVERYDAY. I have to buy two tubs of it when I go to the store lol non-fat plain greek yogurt + peanut butter = heaven
  • Don't buy the snacks and you won't be able to eat the snacks. I don't buy snack food. If I want a snack, Im usually hungry so my "snack" is more like a small, home-cooked meal.
  • What does your body look like? Usually the last 10 lbs that we think we need to lose are simply a product of doing too much cardio with no weight training so our body composition is off. I probably need to lose more fat, but Im not concerned with the scale - I want to lose the actual fat and replace that with muscle so I…
  • I don't stress eat, thank god. Because I don't stress eat, I don't go for bad foods. I guess Im lucky that way. But I do eat when Im excited, happy, or anxious about something. I just keep good, healthy foods in the house, so even when those times of anxiety or excitement come, I may snack a little more than usual, but…
  • It's that mindset IMO. You're focussed and dedicated when you want to lose weight. You make 100% sure you stick to your calorie goal, you work out 3+ times a week, etc.. More importantly, most people don't allow themselves "treats" or punish themselves if they do. When you're maintaining, you most likely have the body you…
  • If you eat that every now and then, and eat them in small amounts then I don't believe it will really affect your dieting. But remember, the more you skip the bad foods and opt for the good ones, the easier it becomes to resist temptations.
  • Ghiradelli Twilight dark chocolate squares. 1 square is like 60 calories, but it knocks your chocolate/sweet tooth out.
  • When I do hard workouts or HIIT, I feel pretty wiped out. A lot of times after a weight training session, I have to sit down and read the newspaper at the gym because I dont feel like walking to the car lol. Same with HIIT, I normally spend a long time stretching to rest. But that's my muscles being exhausted. Mentally,…
  • Southern Louisiana here, too!
  • I love cheese, too. Try some Non-fat Plain Greek Yogurt from Stonyfield or Fage. It really does taste similar to cheese. Not exactly cheddar, but cheese of a sort..
  • Dark chocolate - 70% or higher Knocks any sweet-tooth out with just a small amount. I get the Ghiradelli squares. One square is always enough for me.
  • Frozen (defrosted) salmon filet Head of broccoli Squash/Zucchini/Asparagus Stick that in the oven @ 375 for 22 minutes. ______ Chicken breast Asparagus, tomatoes, broccoli Stick that on a hot grill for 25 minutes. Either make a chicken salad with veggies or just the chicken and veggies alone. ______ Old-Fashioned oatmeal…
  • Oh no, don't stay under 1300 calories unless you have to for some reason. At least eat 1300.. Have you calculated your BMR and TDEE? If not, do so. I used to eat around 1200 calories a day and I put myself into starvation mode. I was moody, fatiqued all the time, irritable, always hungry, and didn't lose anything for…

  • Be honest - "No thank you, Im trying to cut back on sugar"
  • I'm a night owl, so I tend to be up until 11 or 12 at night. I have to eat dinner late, like around 8pm, otherwise I get hungry just before bed. If I eat a early dinner, I always save room for some calories to eat before bed because I know I get hungry. I dont really care what time it is. But with that being said, Im not…
  • If I am below my calorie intake for the day, I will, but Ill try to eat something more calorie dense. For example, if it's around 9pm and I still need to eat 300 more calories, Ill load up on some peanut butter/greek yogurt or almonds. If it's just mid-day and Im not hungry, I won't eat. I dont want to get into the habit…
  • It's not exactly sweet, but I've been chowing down on plain non-fat greek yogurt and peanut butter. It's a weird combination at first because the greek yogurt is almost like cheese, but the two together is awesome. Other than that, I'll eat some fruit, like apples or berries. Ill snack on some dark chocolate. Oatmeal with…
  • Dont worry, there's tons of people here to help. First though: whats your weight, height, goal weight, calorie intake, what exercises do you do and how often, food you eat, etc... In order to help you, we need to know these sort of things.
  • A week is too little to tell, especially if you've increased strength training. Repairing muscles makes you retain more water. But focus on taking measurements instead once a week if your doing more strength training than cardio, or even every two weeks, if you can make yourself mentally get off the scale lol.

  • The doctor is making money off of him, of course he's not going to suggest a different route unless the patient brings up the topic and demands a different opinion.. Tell the dude to eat healthy, cut back on calories, and work out. It's the most simple process ever.
  • I'm 5 lbs away from my goal weight. Actually Im 10 lbs PAST my original goal weight, so I had to recalculate what my goal weight should actually be lol.. I started to kind of stall when I was 12 lbs away, so I did some research and instead of focusing on calories and cardio so much, I just followed these and I've lost…
  • You might have the heart of a 80 year old woman by the time you're 50.. Honestly eating foods like that everyday is more of a "crap" decision. You may be getting nutrients in some of those foods, but those foods aren't helping you in the long run. It's not always about losing weight, it's about being HEALTHY. For a real…
