When I was in my 20s, I was a bridesmaid 3 time in the span of a year and I was always "the fat one." But just eat well, exercise, and know that everyone's eyes will be on the bride. Just have fun, this is a special day for your cousin and you're lucky she wants you to share in it with her! :) Oh, and spanx or a corset.…

I use RockMyRun.com to get mixes. There's all kinds of them, you might find one that fits your music tastes.

You can do it, but YOU have to do it! Do you have a goal to work towards? Not just "lose 12 lbs" but something bigger like "If I lose 12 lbs, I can do *insert whatever here.*" Remember - you are your problem, but you're also your solution!

Just out of curiosity, and maybe it's been answered and I didn't see it, but you seem to be terrified of gaining muscle. Why is that? You won't get all crazy bulky like a man. Depending on your strength training, you will probably drop a size and just look lovely and healthy. You don't want to be skinnyfat and you don't…

Roid rage. :-D

I think it depends on what is wrong with you. If I have chest congestion, cough, or a fever, I rest. Not just for me, but I don't want to infect people at the gym either.

I have twice as much to lose as you do, and I know that self conscious feeling. But my gym has become a safe place for me. People are SO supportive of my workouts there, and usually after a session with my trainer, one or two people will come tell me "Good job out there today!" Don't be too self conscious - they're happy…

I have over 200 to lose too :) I'm sending you a request!

You're thinking too much about the scale and those little point whatever pounds. If you're doing strength training, your body is changing but the scale WILL be slower in a lot of cases. Keep taking measurements because your body will get leaner over time even if you stay at 130. Which, not knowing your height, sounds like…

Hey! I have more to lose than you do but I do live in the area! Feel free to add me! :)

Oh, you youngster. ;) Last year I noticed my health was SERIOUSLY declining. Even my mobility was being compromised. So I waddled on into the gym at the beginning of June. It's AMAZING what working out regularly has done for my health. The scale may be moving slowly, but I'm sure not anymore! Welcome to MFP!!

If you're eating the RIGHT kind of carbs, there's no problem with them! People get all freaked out thinking "low carb" means they have to eat nothing but meat and eggs 4/ever and that's not the case. Now there ARE some people [like myself] who need to go lower carb for medical reasons, but usually that just means cutting…

I've known people to do this before a big event where they just HAD to squeeze into a dress for an evening. You'd be better off just wearing Spanx!!

ABSOLUTELY get some good shoes for your feet type AND your activity! I attempted to start working out wearing running shoes because they were so comfortable for every day stuff, but holy cow. LOL Running shoes + high arches + the elliptical = PAIN FOR DAYS. Now I use a good crosstrainer and I have no issues with my feet…

We can't see what you're eating, so we don't know what we can advise as far as how you should go about changing things up. I had this same problem when I first started on MFP. I ate really cleanly [obsessively so] and would not stop working out until I had burned a minimum of 500 calories. All I ended up doing was making…

My gym bag is small since I live so close to the gym. I have a towel, lock, earbuds, my training notebook, extra money in case I forget to bring my own water bottle, hard candy in case I get light headed, deodorant, hair ties, bobby pins, and hand sanitizer.

I don't LOVE exercise. I enjoy reading, sitting and watching bad reality tv, or playing games. If I have to walk, I'd rather it be because I'm shopping for fun stuff. But I also really enjoy food. And I've had eating disorders since I was 8. You can see where that got me. :) I waddled into my gym at 370 pounds this year. I…

An older man in his 40s-early 50s? SIGN ME UP. Seriously, there is nothing like it. Younger men do nothing for me any more. I didn't care so much when I was in my 20s, but once I hit 30....whole different ball game.

I love sardines!! Anytime I say that to someone, I always get that grimace and they look at me like I'm nuts.

Oh join! We have practically a gym in our home - big lovely treadmill, weights, stability ball, tons of fitness videos - but I never got the kind of workout at home that I do in the gym. There was always something here that was a bit distracting. And although I'm not particularly social, I love being around people who are…

I waddled my way into the gym at 370lbs, definitely the biggest girl, if not the biggest person, in the whole gym. But everyone has been SO friendly and supportive!! If you can get a trainer, at least for a little bit, I HIGHLY suggest it. But don't be afraid to ask questions, especially if you want to try a machine and…

Feel free to add me! I have much more than 100lbs to lose and could use some friends who know what it's like!
-
Well, I do like guys that play sports, so yes.

If it's inappropriate, there's a good chance I'm rolling around on the floor laughing at it. That's kind of WHY it's funny to me. Not EVERYTHING is funny, but a lot of things are!

If you don't like it and don't want to go, then don't. Simple as that. Millions of people will never step foot inside a gym. But, don't think of all of them as being too loud, or unsupportive, or smelly, or whatever. Not all of them are. I walked into my gym this past June at 370lbs. No muscle. No self esteem. I was…

I meet once a week with a personal trainer, then the other days I do cardio and then usually one or two additional strength training sessions - whatever my trainer tells me to work on. You might want to see if you can get a fitness assessment with one of the trainers at your gym to see if they can kind of tell you what to…

Hi! I don't always log my food, but I definitely try to comment and support my MFP friends when I can. And I don't think I've deleted anyone in ages. LOL Feel free to add me if you'd like! :)

I wipe all machines down myself anyway, just to make sure. Never can be too careful! :)

I'm a recovering binge eater. I still have setbacks once in a while, but it's nothing like it was in my 20s. You kind of have to get to the root of WHY you're doing it. I was doing it because I was terribly unhappy with my life. Eating made me feel "full," something I wasn't getting from anywhere else. It has to be a…

Talk to him. But remember too that a lot of PTs don't stick around at the same gym that long anyway and the fact that you've had him for this long is pretty good. I had the same one for 3 months and he recently left and now I have a new one. While it's taking some getting used to, I appreciate that he's working completely…
