Wrapping and Exercising

Hello all. My mom was telling me about this thing she has done in the past to shed off a few more inches, and she said it was called "Wrapping." It's where they take some bandages, dip them in some kind of liquid concoction and wrap you up in the bandages. Then they have you exercise for about 30-45 minutes while you are wrapped up.

My mom said that after one session she lost several inches, and I just have a hard time believing it. I weigh between 152-160 depending on which scale I'm using, but I'm still a size 13. I'm trying to get to a size 10. Does anyone know if these wraps work or if it's just a gimmick. Thanks. :)

You will loose water weight. Very temporary and not significant.

Do it healthy with watching your food and excerise. It will come off eventually and better chance of keeping it off

It's water loss. It's not safe and it's very temporary. Don't do it.

I just have a hard time believing it. ........... Does anyone know if these wraps work or if it's just a gimmick.

anytime you have to combine these two sentences the answer is "gimmick"

just work out and eat at a calorie deficit. that's not a gimmick and many people right here on this site can testify to it's effectiveness.

anything that involves liquid concoction is either illegal, or not going to work.

I was picturing "i said a hip hop the hippie the hippie
to the hip hip hop, a you dont stop
the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie
to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat" while rapping presents. I think this would actually be more effective for fat loss than what you describe above.

I did this thing where you put a "special" detoxifying lotion on the target area ( for me it was tummy). Then wrap it in Saran, then sit and chat while drinking about two or three bottles of water. I was measured before and after and I lost almost an inch in three hours on my waist! I read the sales pitch which claims that the lotion has detoxifying properties that helps fat cells release toxins resulting in fat loss. It is very carefully worded and very dishonest and expensive, but I was feeling kind of desperate after spending 3 weeks in the uk eating black pudding, pies, Stilton cheese and belly pork. ( hmmmm funny I didn't equate the twenty-five hundred plus daily calories with weight gain). . Anyway, to top it off I did more silly Internet research on this weak theory and read that citrus and caffeine have a similar detoxifying effect. So I bought a citrus/ caffeine lotion and body scrub. It was expensive but I was proud to be saving hundreds of dollars from not buying the "special lotion". Shortly after this I ate at a calorie deficit for three months and lost nine real pounds and real inches.

You can try this: weigh yourself, then drink three large glasses of water and go to the washroom several times of course over an hour or so. I have done this a few times and lost 1 or 2 pounds according to the scale.

  • I've known people to do this before a big event where they just HAD to squeeze into a dress for an evening. You'd be better off just wearing Spanx!!
