• there are also supplements you can get at any nutrition shop that help with muscle recovery. you can get a lot of great info from the sales person. i have heard from different individuals who lift, each have their own preferences, so i will avoid promoting a certain brand or what i take personally... :)
• yes :) just finished the hard body challenge. loved it! :)
• me :) just completed the 6 week hard body and i'm continuing on the plan now as a member. i can PM you some recipe ideas.
• week 6 of 1/2 marathon training in the books. added another 12 for the month. :)
• i am in for 95 in April ... 1/2 marathon training, race in May
• i believe you're in the same boat as most other new users... getting used to how all of this works. :) it's a process! first of all, anything over a pound or 2 per week would be considered a lot of weight to lose on a week to week basis, unless you are very heavy. it sounds like you are using the site correctly .. eating…
• i also LOVE this idea. seems like the best scenario for me as i tend to have my "cheat meal" on friday or saturday night, making sunday's weigh-in a bummer. LOL thanks for the idea!
• i do log "false highs" when they're for reasons like you mentioned -- exceptionally large dinner the night before a scheduled weigh-in day. i do it because when i'm reviewing progress reports over a period of weeks, when i see an increase i can refer to my meal log and see the correlation between the large meal and the…
• ^^ agree with all these points :)
•
If they persist, there's always, "if I wanted to look like you, I'd eat like you". :smiling_imp: (The nuclear option is a last resort.)
OUCH! good one :) ... i'm gonna save that one for the day i plan to quit my job. LOL
• I am quick to jump on the snark wagon when it comes to these types of diet police. :) I was in the category of "not that over weight" for years, but over weight enough that it was uncomfortable to me, and I had no muscle strength in any part of my body, got winded walking up stairs, no concept of CICO/macros etc. So I…
• this was the exact thing i was going to suggest. deelish. :)
• I'm in week 2 of training for my 3rd half. .. 1st was in 2010, ran it in 2:34, 2nd was last year, ran it in 2:01. this year of course i'm aiming for under 2:00! :) any one here in So Cal?
• i worked with a trainer last summer .. she did exactly what i hired her for, which was to write an entire plan for me, a routine for 6 days in the gym and a meal plan. as things progressed, based on my results, she changed the plan and adjusted the meals. i could text her anytime with questions. it sounds like you would…
• i think you're my twin :) 41 years old 2 step kids 5'3" HW: 145 CW: 133 GW: 120 eating 1600 per day working out 6 day/wk
• thank you! i have tried other TDEE calculators and did not get a definitive result. this one is great! i will have to get used to NOT logging my exercize since i LOVE seeing those numbers, but i like the idea of how using a TDEE works. :)
• that is a tough situation. i will try to avoid using terms i apparently have the wrong definition for, but i think there are several ways you could improve your diet even with these limitations. you may want to talk to your doctor. one thing is for sure, you're not happy where you are and what you've been doing is not…
• my apologies, did i use the wrong term? the process of when your body uses protein to produce energy... If you run out of glycogen stores, and no glucose is available, your body will then break down its own muscle tissue to release amino acids. These amino acids are sent to your liver, where they are converted to glucose…
• i wanted to also comment on your diary from 2/22 ... you had graham crackers for breakfast you had a beer and ice cream for lunch you an orange for a snack and you had 28 calories plus a diet soda for dinner. i'm not trying to be mean but this is the worst daily intake i can imagine! i would be feeling like death and not…
• agreeing with previous replies above ... 1. i would also suggest you eat some protein at every meal. egg whites, veggie burger, turkey patty, lean steak, fish, etc. 2. most of your breakfasts are fruit or pastries, which have pretty much no nutritional value and will cause you to feel hungry much sooner than a protien. try…
• i forgot to say this plan will increase your distance in a way that you should not over-train. even if you feel like you can do more than 3, on a day that you need to do just 3, just do 3. :)
• http://www.halfmarathons.net/half-marathon-training-schedule-for-beginning-runners/ something like this is a great way to train ... short (3-4 mile) runs 3-4x week, then one long run per week with rest days at the proper intervals. it really is a part time job.... super doable though! i've run a half twice. :) good luck!
• I LOVE THIS! great advice
• i agree with both of the above responses. i started with just sticking to my 1200, but as pp said that could sometimes be a bad choice (high calorie morning = less food later = feeling crappy). once you experience that, you may find, as i did, that you prefer to eat healthier, which usually equals the option of eating a…
• yes, it's quite large and i pour from that into a smaller glass. :) i used to have a half gallon bottle that i'd carry back and forth to work every day but that got annoying. this one stays on my desk.

• whether it's 100 or 10 pounds, it's hard work! i'm happy to have new supportive friends also. :) friend request sent!
• the only time i got in the shape i wanted to be in was following the advice of a trainer; along with the workouts came a meal plan that upheaved my whole routine. i now try to stick to it even though i'm no longer training ... breakfast within 30 minutes of waking, meals/snacks every 3 hours. 9am, 12pm, 3pm, etc. ... i see…
• thanks! on my bday that year i said "40 is the new 28" ;) the funny thing is, even thru all that "crap" i was never a woe is me type and i still enjoyed my life. just looking back, i'm SOOO glad to be where i am. like, i'd never willingly do high school again either. LOL .. reading thru all these comments, it sounds like…
