Diddo! Watching my sodium and water intake really helps me manage the water weight rollercoaster. I've also found that watching my sodium ends up keeping a lot of the other things in line as well.

You can always try some sort of circuit training program that uses resistance, but incorporates the cardio so it gets your heart pumping, your body sweating, and still mailtains and builds muscle.
