  • That is a GREAT explanation. Thanks! Sounds like a great show, I'll look for it based on your summary.
  • Yup, I kept one pair for comparison ! MommyRobin ... 86 pounds! Can't wait to see the pic
  • There are many different opinions on this. You really need science on your side. A quick calculator found on a web page probably won't help. Suggest you read _Good calories, Bad calories_ by Gary Taubes, and read everything else you can get your hands on! Also _Practical Programming_ by Rippetoe. Good reading!
  • Go to a podiatrist, immediately.
  • Cut / change your CARBOHYDRATE intake. That's the key CHANGE what you are eating. If you eat a lot of zucchini, start eating a lot of eggs and vice versa. Shake your body up. Try increasing your daily protein goal dramatically. It all happens in the kitchen, exercise won't help a plateau.
  • Fantastic, great work, and happy birthday
  • "Presumably our ancestors had no carbohydrates some days and lots others, so is the 72g an average over a period of time ?" Sure - that's just right. " 'Lutz believes the correct answer is "72 grams per day' .... This is, perhaps, the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. The idea that one value is applicable to the entire…
  • Solar, when I started my "scientific weight loss journey" about 1 year ago, I read a vast amount of monographs and papers and settled on the ideas of Dr Lutz. As you probably know, Lutz is (was) the most popular dietician / diet book Doctor in German-speaking countries. (Along with the "point diet" - which is indeed…
  • "Are you thinking of ketoacidosis?" A good point -- I think it's almost impossible in a "sound bite" environment like a posting board, to get in to any very close to real science. It tends to be more yelling about opinions gleaned from talk-shows, etc :-) Lyle McDonald's diets are incredible, if, you are a body builder or…
  • that was just water weight -- forget about it. Humans lose about a pound a week, at the most. Enjoy!
  • Fat loss happens in the kitchen. Focus overwhelmingly on what you eat. Read a lot of books and gain lots of knowledge! Eat well.
  • "although veggies are low in calories..." Don't forget that things like POTATOES and CARROTS are incredibly high in calories and incredibly high in sugar. "Veggies" are tricky because they vary greatly. All "meat" is about the same, and all "fats" are roughly the same. But the different veggies are from different planets.
  • "I'll do that when I have some time. I'm not going to buy his book though... I remember watching Tabues on one of those afternoon Dr shows... That was the first time I remember ever hearing anything about him, and it just set off all kinds of alarm bells." I see, so you have seen him on TV. I have not actually seen Mr…
  • "If you want to read cherry-picked science that ignores any study that disagrees with it then read Gary Taubes" I'm really keen to find books or papers AGAINST Taubes, Dr Wolfgang Lutz, Dr. Malcolm Kendrick, etc. For sure, if you know of any, please let us know! Once again, if you have a great paper, book, etc, which is…
  • At your age? Absolutely no problem. By the way, you're extremely beautiful :-) You know what you'd love -- get a ROWING MACHINE. It sounds like in a way the bike is too easy for you. Get a rowing machine, and you'll be back here puking and saying you hate rowing machines and is 10 minutes a day enough :) Enjoy ! the bike…
  • Fruits are all sugar. Consider it carefully. Some veggies have a lott of sugar. Potatoes and carroys are deadly. Consider it carefully. Carbohydrate is carbohydrate. If you are eating fruit you are eating carbohydrate. The ida that there are "good and bad" carbs is very controversial. Atoms are all the same. Carboydrate…
  • What the hell's wrong with Chick-Fil-A ? It's a good product and meat is good for you. When you're travelling, the best possible thing you can eat is a "just meat" option, of course. (Like that In-N-Out Burger "low carb" burger with no bun, for instance.) Whoever said that was silly!
  • That is huge! You are the best! Fantastic! For a reward, what about a GPS watch? they are great for running. maybe a garmin 110 is a simple good one. You'll love it if you don't have one!
  • Consider reading THE CARBOHYDRATE ADDICT'S DIET by the Drs. Heller. Hope it helps!
  • Funny, I eat and like exactly that. Hame with cream cheese generally ... and blueberry bagel yes.
  • In the USA, In-N-Out Burger's low-carb burger is a hamburger made with ... lettuce leaves instead of bread. That's pretty strange!
  • Is it possible you're actually .. under-eating? Your body is very intelligent - it's possible if you're hungry, you're hungry !! :) Are you getting ENOUGH PROTEIN ? enough fat? Are you eating TOO MUCH carbohydrate? Don't forget .. carbohydrate is what make you feel hungry. Fat is what makes you feel full, satisfied. And…
  • Are you trying to lose body fat? Or are you trying to make your muscles bigger? The two issues are totally, utterly different.
  • Do not eat back your exercise calories. To do so is just silly. If you're going to do 100 of exercise, and "eat back" the 100 ... quite simply, DON'T DO the exercise. YOU HAVE ACHIEVED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. it's incredibly simple. If you can do arithmetic (like "100 - 100 == 0") you will understand this. There is nothing to…
  • Fantastic question! If you're following a low-carb approach, Indian can be perfect. Choose: MEATS ... tandoori chicken is just "chicken cooked in a delicious manner using a special oven and spices" Personally I always order a massive mixed plate of all the tandoor meats - lamb, chicken, etc. CREAM SAUCES ...…
  • Just your achieved good weight in roman numerals, as someone suggests above, is a great idea !
  • FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • "But I guess it's healthier to maintain a net calorie as you say." Nonsense. It's healthy to have no excess fat. :-) This is an example of science from internet soundbites, versus science. To make a REAL DECISION, I recommend the book I mention! It's a great book, if a little technical, enjoy. Failing that, stick to what…
