I use my HRM. I burn way more doing Insanity, but the strength training from P90X makes your metabolism faster in the long run. If you invest in an HRM you will not regret it.

WHAT I WOULD GIVE TO HAVE SOMEONE EXTRACT MY DAMN SWEET TOOTH! For chocolate sweets, anyway.

Atta way! Stay strong!!!

Actually, potatoes WERE something I used to love, especially baked with all the toppings. Now, if a potato is offered, my response is, "Meh".

Thank you all for your input! I think this is an excellent kick to my rear to get back on the healthy wagon and stay away from sugar and junk in general!

Glad to know it is not just in my head.

Ask you doc WHAT you can eat every 2 hours to maintain even blood sugar. I had great success eating a clean diet with snacks every 2-3 hours, and I actually lost weight eating that way, but it has to be wholesome foods. Since you are diabetic and I am not familiar with what you should and should not be eating, approach…

Drinking more! Woo hoo! :drinker: Oh, wait. You mean water. Oh, ok. :ohwell:

I live near one MFPer and we did get together for a fun hike. We had a great time!

Thank you everyone. If you do have a pet, please hug them for me today. Everyone have an excellent day. :flowerforyou:

I was JUST going to post a topic that says the exact same thing! I am RAVENOUS! I ate a nice sized breakfast and snack, but I am having a hard time waiting until lunch. Think I'll go make a cup of tea to hold me over....hopefully. And go run errands to distract me.

I have had it occasionally happen when I am next to someone else wearing an HRM. Even though they are supposed to be coded, it will sometimes pick up someone else's readings and in my case it was COMBINING our readings so even though I had just stepped on the treadmill it said I was at 240 something. After about 20 seconds…

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Have a healthy weekend!

I try to eat "healthy carbs". I can try adding some more of them though. Thanks.

Yeah, after I posted it I thought the topic may sound a little weird... I think I will experiment because I am not having fun working out when I feel like this. I like my workouts to be fun.

I have 3 breakfasts that I rotate around. It depends on 1) the amount of time I have and 2) what my taste buds are in the mood for. 1) (Which I just had this morning) - 1/2 cup plain oatmeal, non instant with 1 TBSP cinnamon, 1 crushed walnut and either a banana or 1/2 an apple. 2) 1 slice whole wheat bread with 2 TBSP…

I have found that as long as 1) I am eating healthy stuff and 2) exercising, I can go about 200 over a day and still lose weight. Everyone's body is different, so if you find that it is still working with a bit more calories, you are doing fine. I have also recently discovered that if I eat a snack that is filling…

Thanks Dr B!

Thanks, Laura. Only about 1/2 hour to go before I kick the boys out (they have a game this evening - gotta quit eating and get ready to play basketball!). Then, into the trash they will go!

Oh, I WISH I could remember the name of the program I saw. There was a gal with severe stomach pains that got worse when she had carbs. She was a runner, too. It was a very rare intestinal disorder that was genetic. I am going to search to see if I can find it and let you know. Ok, I cannot find it. Is this fairly new or…

I dunno, I think it depends on each person's body. I had a cheat day last week, but I still exercised and the stuff that I went over on my calories with was all healthy - I was in cashew-chewing mode all evening - and I still lost weight last week.

That's the best way! I am up at 4:45 every day. I don't go to the gym when I workout that early, but I work out at home. It means I can cheer for my son at his basketball games and not have something nagging me in the back of my mind that I should be getting in my workout! Of course, I get teased for going to bed so early…

It certainly helps me to sleep better when I am not full at bedtime. Better sleep = more energy to get in my workouts.

My whole family did the program last spring to support my son as he was getting in shape for basketball season at the high school. I put on some weight over the holidays and have now started a "hybrid" program of P90X and some tough cardio classes at my gym. The weight is coming off very quickly. It is a great program. I…

If you like group classes, they are pretty good. Depends on each individual location, though. I belonged for about 12 years, but then an independent gym opened closer to me that was cheaper and also offered group classes. When I was at 24 Hour, I could attend any one in the country that I wanted to, which was nice when I…

My hubby did it and lost 50 pounds - FAST. Guess what? He gained them back just as fast when he began to eat regularly again.

Thanks! I have about 15 minutes to decide, but I am leaning toward spinning. I would like to burn a lot and I can get close to 600 calories burned in an hour with this instructor.

If it has guarana extract in it, I stay away. That stuff makes my heart race.

I agree, and everyone must listen to their own bodies. My husband could not care less about artificial sweeteners because they don't affect him. I cannot ingest Aspartame, or I feel jittery and weird (like a caffeine overdose). I would love to have the time to plan EVERY meal perfectly. I do love, however, my job, being a…

Oh, me too! If it was just exercise alone that worked, I would be fine. It's the fact that I like food - and lots of it - that is the bigger problem! Welcome, wicked fit!
