  • I am currently suffering with a disc bulge pressing on my L5 nerve which is causing foot drop and leg weakness. I’ve had it since May and following an MRI, I’ve been referred to a surgeon. I’ve had to give up running, including pulling out of a race for the first time ever, but I am cycling loads to keep up the strength in…
  • Mine randomly started working again last week for a few runs, and then randomly stopped again!
  • I make sure all my leggings have a drawstring waist, the exception being the leggings I get from Mountain Warehouse as the elastic in the waist of their leggings is really wide and firm. Their running clothes are often ridiculously cheap in the sale and really good quality.
  • I'm a UK runner, but my running activities rarely show up in my feed(my Garmin is linked to MFP). I thought they'd fixed it as it recently started working again, but then it stopped! Feel free to add me though, I am doing a half later in the year, and did a marathon last October, so I'm aware of the runger, although I just…
  • I'm at 806 days. I don't always log my food as I am maintaining, but still log in to stay accountable. Each time I put on a few pounds I start logging my food again.
  • Mountain Warehouse have some good stuff, often in the sale.
  • Mine stopped showing up in my feed months ago too.
  • It used to do that, but it's not done that for a long time now. I use map my run, and although the exercise calories sync like you say, it used to post my run to my newsfeed, but doesn't do it anymore, no idea why.
  • I put my phone in a Buddy Pouch, it's a magnetic pouch that sticks to my waistband, you can't even tell it's there.
  • Loads of people walk ParkRun, they also have a tail walker/runner so you'll never be left behind, so even walking it you wont be last.
  • It takes me two or three miles before I properly settle into a rhythm, and if I'm doing a long run, it's mile 15 that I struggle with, and then I'm ok again!
  • You're not meant to stretch cold muscles. After a run, you can do some heel drop stretches on the edge of a step. Beginners or people coming back to running often get shin splints by doing too much too soon, it takes a little time for your muscles to adapt.
  • Best thing I have bought for running is a Buddy Pouch, a magnetic pouch that sticks to the waistband at the back of my tights to put my phone in. I can't even tell it's there, and with my top pulled down over it, you can't see it either.
  • You really need to go to a proper class to be taught how to use them with the correct form so you don't hurt yourself. I go to a class once a week, and the rest of the time I follow Body Fit by Amy on youtube. If you are really unable to go to a class, she does actually have instructional videos to show you how to use them.
  • The more you run, the better you get at it. You will be slow to start with, and that's fine. Once you get used to running your pace will naturally get faster.
  • I noticed this too, for a while it kept saying on my home page feed that I had done running at 11.5 minute mile which was annoying me as I wasn't running at that pace, now it doesn't show up at all. I use Gamin Connect, but the other day I forgot my Garmin and used MapMyRun which had the same issue, still not fixed for me.
  • I've used map my run for years with no trouble, but now I use a Garmin connected with it.
  • I had the same problem, the first run I did 4 days post marathon, I ran entirely too fast up a giant hill as I felt so good, my legs quickly reminded my after a couple of miles that they hadn't recovered yet!
  • I used to run three days a week and strength train 3 days a week, but when I was training for my marathon I increased the runs to four times a week, which meant I had to drop a strength training day. Marathon training towards the end in particular, when the miles increase, really takes it out of you. You need the day after…
  • I don't really understand the whole taper driving you crazy thing, I just completed my first marathon 10 days ago, and during taper time I actually enjoyed the rest and recovery time, I needed it. Marathon training was really burning me out and I was exhausted. Plus I actually had a life back! Good luck with your marathon.
  • Thank you! I will let you know how I get on, though I may well be coming back and telling you not to do one, it's hell haha!
  • I've been running 10 years, though never further than 10k until this year. I did my first half marathon in March, and I'm about to do my first full marathon this sunday. It's actually been fairly easy building up from half marathon distance. Furthest distance I have done so far in training is 21 miles, the first part of…
  • It's normal in every race I've been in to sprint finish, it is a race after all. Some people don't as they're likely simply to tired to do so. When I've raced someone to the finish line we usually congratulate each other and say thank you for providing that bit of motivation to push that last final bit. Never seen any rude…
  • Asics Cumulus, have worn that brand and model for ten years. Did briefly switch over to Brooks Ghost as they were cheaper, but they didn't last nearly as long. My Asics last 500 miles.
  • I use a buddy pouch, it's a magnetic pouch that attaches to your waistband and you barely notice it's there. I've tried armbands and belts over the years, but this is the best thing ever. I wear it at the back of my waistband and pull my top down over it, you can't really see it then.
  • I do KB workouts following BodyFit by Amy on Youtube.
  • I wear Asics Cumulus, and I retire them after 500 miles. That used to be about a year for me, but now I'm training for a marathon, that's not long at all before I've run them out!
  • When I started running ten years ago, I could barely run 100 yards, let alone a mile! I used to go out and alternate running and walking between each lamppost. It takes time, but if you keep at it regularly, you will get better. It's hard, and to be honest, it's always going to be hard, you just get better and faster with…
  • I thought the same. The amount of times over the years the doctor has told me to stop running because of various injuries, that just seems to be their idea of fixing it. All my injuries have been fixable, even when I suffered with a broken pelvis(due to an accident, not running related I should add!), with time I was back…
  • Garmin 220 which uploads data to Map my Run.
