So far Im unimpressed with the gear Ive purchased, mainly my headphones (MPow bluetooth) and arm band cell phone holder (JD Sports).

Do you have wireless headphones that you love? Do you to prefer to run with a belt over an armband?

Whats your must have running gear, especially for this cold weather?

I love my under armor verge goretex shoes that I bought on deep discount at Ross. Ran through ankle deep mud yesterday, rinsed them off with a hose, took them off and my socks were clean and dry. My husband has cheap but supposedly all weather shoes and his feet were sloshing around in them.

Not loving my running gloves though! I can't remember the brand and I'm not where I can go look at them, but my hands were chilly until I got sweaty, and then the gloves were just wet and nasty.

I love my flipbelt. I have a cheap pair of BT headphones from amazon and they seem fine to me. Cold weather - various layers, lots and lots of lights and reflective gear, gloves, head covering of choice (I usually use just a band to keep my ears warm), more lights, more reflective gear, some more lights, then some lights. Since it’s dark like 22 hours a day now, we are even more invisible to traffic, and road conditions become less favorable. Visibility (to others and for yourself to see where you’re going) becomes really critical.

I actually run during the day and not on the road. Im lucky to have lots of well lit running paths nearby. But I will invest in some lights just in case I decide I need to go on a night road run :)

This will be my first year deciding to run outside in the winter ...anyone recommend any good insulated running pants?? I'm not a fan of running in layers so I've usually only ran till the snow hit but want to try to run year round outside.

Im wondering the same thing. It was pretty chilly today (around 40) and I was wearing these generic workout pants from REI and my tush was freezing by the time I was done!! They did somehow miraculously keep me relatively dry in the rain though.

If you aren't a fan of layers, then invest in good base layers and you won't have to put on so much clothing. Smartwool is pricey but worth the investment. Also, invest in a good quality running jacket.

As far as pants go, I generally wear capris until it gets below 30, and then I switch to running tights. I don't double layer bottoms until I get in the teens or lower.

As far as headphones, the only time I wear them is when I have to go on a treadmill. When running outside, I generally don't listen to music unless I am on a long run that ends up being 2+hrs.

I like Under Armour Coldgear tights for winter. I wore them down to about 25 degrees and never needed another layer. I also think the Flipbelt is far better than any armband I’ve tried.

I just got some true wireless ear buds by soundpeats. I like them because I can easily have one ear with music and one without. I also got a pair of running tights from Target that have side pockets big enough for my phone, which eliminates the belt. I never could run with am armband. Too clunky.

I'm in Chicago, so I know about the cold. I run in adidas soccer sweats layered with Nike, MPG or UnderArmor weather tech. On top, I wear a sports bra, a long sleeve, a hoodie and a North Face Fleece. I use a thick woven headband for my ears, gloves, and 2 pairs of long socks. Both North Face and Columbia make really thick socks that are made for outdoor activity.

I’m still trying to decide on what Under Armour gear to try for the winter.

Difficult to say what my favourite running gear, as all the items have different purposes.

I track my running using a Forerunner 735XT, and Garmin Tri HR strap. If I carry my phone it's either in a FlipBelt or in my Inov-8 race pack.

In terms of winter running, it's a bit milder here in southern UK, and I have Saucony and DHB running tights, with Haglofs base layer tops. A Silva TrailRunner II head torch, and a spare in the race pack if I'm doing night trail running.

My shoes are all Inov-8, with a number of different types depending on the terrain; MudClaw, Race Ultra, RocLite, TrailClaw and RoadClaw.

Best thing I have bought for running is a Buddy Pouch, a magnetic pouch that sticks to the waistband at the back of my tights to put my phone in. I can't even tell it's there, and with my top pulled down over it, you can't see it either.

My Flipbelt, wireless headphones and my garmin are 3 things I couldn't run without.....I always have to have my phone with me with the ability to answer no matter what since I have a kiddo with some serious health issues. I don't even notice the flipbelt with phone. Headphones are comfy, and I can answer my phone through my garmin, so I don't run without them. When it's cold I can't stand cold hands, or ears so I have Saucony band for my ears, and Saucony fingerless gloves that have a top that flip over into mittens.

•Ears: Bose soundsport headset (cheap taoTronics version in pocket as battery back-up)
•Vest with big pockets (Colombia and a Nike, depending on need for warmth) - to hold phone, key, CC
•Tights- Athleta makes a pair of polar fleece boot-cut-ish that I like, but I'm in CA so it's usually a roadrunner running skirt and compression socks
•Cheap infinity scarf- draped, wrapped, sometimes on my head... multi purpose
•1/4 zip long-sleeve with 'handies'- the mitten thingies and thumbholes

Plantronics Backbeat Fit for running. I've compared them against Jaybird X3's and the Powerbeats 3 and they're easily my hands down favorite wireless headphones.

I hold my phone in my hand for any run under an hour. It also doubles as my strobe/flashlight when I run in the dark. I use a cheap arm band for longer runs but can't say that I love it. I just don't bother to find another option because I use it one time per week tops.
