To become faster you have to run faster, but it doesnt need to be for the entire duration of the run. I would work in a moderate pace and do 1min intervals with a 1-2 min recovery (where you get your heart rate back down). Do a google on interval runs. Good luck!

Yurbuds. You can even take the silicone ear pieces off and put them on your apple earphones. That is what I did. They do NOT fall out period. Make sure you get fitted!

Thanks for confirming that! I did find out some more about the Garmin. Without the newleaf testing (I heard all the testing centers are now closed) that is supposed to be the most accurate way of determining calorie burn on the new 910xt watches, you have to rely on the 2nd method which takes into account age, sex, weight,…

This!

these look great!

can you elaborate on how you can do the testing yourself? thanks!

You didnt mentioned whether you worked out alone or with other people. Join a running, cycling, tri club. Group workouts will motivate you as everyone pushes everyone around them. Or sign up for an event (5k, 10k, half marathon, sprint tri, mud run). Havent a goal REALLY keeps me on track. I notice that when I dont have a…

if you aren't worried about the health part of losing the weight... 1) cut sodium down 1-2 days before weighing. 2) dont eat/drink morning of your weigh in. 3) take milk of magnesia right before going to bed. good luck! if you arent in a time crutch, do what NYCNika suggested...

I did this almost 2 years ago, lost about 20 lbs, stopped using MFP and the weight slowly came back. Then about a yr ago I started again for the second time. Lost almost 40 lbs from my original weight. Took a short break over xmas and gained about 5 lbs. Now I am using it again (I still consider this my 2nd time) :)

A HRM is much more accurate than what is on MFP. Weight, Intensity (and thus HR), etc will determine the calorie burn. 220 does not sound realistic (I am sure it is possible) but it sounds like that number is way off. Go ahead and google avg heart rate for jogging/walking. You will prob see numbers ranging from…

If your RMR is 1400, just change it to 1450. That would take care of this discrepency of not subtracting off the RMR from your calories burned from exercise in a day. But as stated above, I wouldnt bother with this as it just complicates this. The after burn of your exercise should make up for the difference between…
-
I was suggesting that you count your RMR as 50 calories higher than it actually is. This would save you the trouble of having to worry about the difference as you would account for it everyday. My sugguestion is to not worry about the difference. I am most likely 100+ calories off per day anyways. :)
-
I dont just because the portion of HRM-RMR for that period of time is not significant. ie My RMR is about 2000 I exercise for 1 hour and burn 800 calories My RMR for that time is about 1/24*2000-83 calories My exercise is 800. So the difference is 717. And since I shut off my HRM right after I am done exercising, I lose…

Not sure if you know someone with a polar rcx5 but that is the only HRM that I know of which monitors HR underwater. If you can borrow one, swim 1/2 hour at your current workload and multiply by 2 to get your calories burned per hour. Also effort plays a bit in here. If you can do a casual recovery type swim and a…

5 mile run in just less than 45 mins.

speaking as an inspiring triathlete, thanks!

I have tried 2. Jullian Michaels 30 day shred and the P90X program. I honestly did not finish the JM 30DS because I was working on other events at the time. The P90X program was awesome. I finished it and felt stronger then ever. In terms of weight loss I did not lose as much as I was building muscles. Most of my weight…

i have used runkeeper, nike+ gps and mapmyrun. i can say that runkeeper is my favorite. with nike+ gps, i have lost runs or had the mileage not accumulate even with the timer going. after there is no way to manually enter your run. mapmyrun is ok but runkeeper is more user friendly and i like the newer changes they have…

yes, meant Body Glide :)

I like Nike+GPS and Runkeeper. You can try MapMyRun, Nike and Runkeeper at the same time. I was able to run them concurrently and they all worked in the background. (iphone 4 verified). In any case, if I had to pick one I may pick Runkeeper as that allows you to add in runs which may not have recorded properly or other…

I bike and run quite a bit and I use Glide. It comes in a deorderant shaped container. Good luck!

Sensitive stomach here so plain foods before (oatmeal with raisins and walnuts). After I like fruits, yogurts and anything else I can get my hands on :)

try run/walking. when your HR gets too high walk until it comes down and then start up again. it will almost seem like interval training...
