Apparently manly men don't much care what color/design. My son's gym bags kept being stolen so he started taking my grocery shopping bags for his smelly gym clothes. So I got pink breast cancer ones and flowered designs on others. It didn't matter. He took them anyway. Maybe the guy has a daughter, wife, or girlfriend he…

Quick and easy chicken recipe: In a skillet dump 3 Tablespoons each of the following: Mustard (I like grainy course mustard but it is also good with dijon) Lemon juice (fresh or bottled) Olive Oil Stir and add 4 chicken breasts or equivelent breast tenders. Cover over Med/LO heat for 30 minutes. Uncover the last 10 minutes…

If you are getting headaches and dizziness that go away when you eat something, then you are experiencing low blood sugar and it could be dangerous. This happens to diabetics regularly and could lead to a comatose state for them, but anyone can feel poorly and put their health in danger from undereating. Try to make sure…

Welcome to MFP. I am soon to be 57 and have had some success over the last year and a half, losing about 40 pounds. Unfortunately, I have regained about 14 pounds over the last few months dealing with my aging parents and other stresses. I am recommitting to taking those off and continuing on my journey to regain my…

I have Hypothyroidism AND Type 2 Diabetes. My thyroid condition wasn't diagnosed untl I was in my mid 40's and barely functioning. I also have numbness in my feet. Symptoms that I had been having tests run for since early childhood cleared up once I got my thyroid levels steady. I also had my mother and two daughters…

This! I am 5' 5 1/2" and weigh 150 right now. I am a small frame and would like to get down to 135, but my daughter, at 5' 6" is very lean at 145-150 because she has a larger frame than I do. There are many factors to consider, like muscle mass, bone structure, body shape, etc. Use your height as a rough extimate. Get to a…

I'm so glad you are having results from the gluten free diet. I tried GF myself about 4 years ago. I first did like you, having gluten once in a while. My stomach symptoms improved greatly, and I experienced the bloating, gas, and "bathroom issues" every time I ate wheat. I continued this a few years until I realized that…

The same site says that Liv Tyler is also 112 pounds and 5'10". Believe what you want to believe. The most important thing is to find a weight that is healthy for you!

I don't have access to restaurants while working so I always take my lunch. I often fix several salads for the week, then add turkey, light cheese, boiled eggs, tuna pouch, grilled chicken, or other protein at lunch time. I take a low cal, low fat dressing and some crackers along. The other option is leftovers from dinner.…

I don't know about podcasts, but when I have to drive long distances, I always check out a book on CD. You can also do this with your e readers and I think on your phone. Good luck finding something to keep you motivated!

Stopping caffeine does lead to really bad headaches. Try cutting out the sugary beverages first without cutting the amount of caffein in your day. There have been lots of products recommended. Then you can gradually cut back on the caffeine if you think that is bothering you after cut out most of the sugar. I now drink…

"Grazing" or eating a lttle throughout the day, is actually a very healthy way to eat. It seems to be working for you as you have lost 4 pounds and you just started. If you are making healthy choices that include protein, fruits and vegetables, and complex carbs and are limiting your fat and empty carbs, then you can and…

I switched to Armour, too. I changed because I changed doctors due to insurance, but would never change back. I take a very high dose, 180 mg/day (90 in the am and 90 in the pm). I know it is controversial, because it can't be regulated as easily as the man made Synthroid and Levo, but it contains all of the missing…

I was finally diagnosed hypothyroid (Hashimotos) in my mid 40's about 12 years ago. I have probably been that way most of my life, but I had gotten to a very acute stage. I gained even when I ate nothing but salads, was tired all the time, losing my hair, barely functioning as a human being, and sick all the time.. I walked…

Not in this forum, but if you're using Word, go to the "review" button and change your language to English (Canadian). I use it all the time when I go back and forth between Spanish/English. It helps keep from driving me crazy with all the "auto corrects" to the wrong language!

You can take accountability now and eat for yourself and your needs, or you can wait til you are going to die or lose your feet to amputation, like I did. I fed everyone else what they wanted for years and years, all the while watchng my husband go through quadruple heart bypass and my mother and mother in law develop…

I don't know what you want to use the flatbread for, but I was experimenting with the old family cornbread recipe just tonight, trying to make a gluten free substitute for myself as I made the other for my family. This is what I came up with: Whip with a whisk between each addition: 1 cup buttermilk 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2…

I agree with Melo. Plan to eat. Just plan healthy snacks that are low fat and high protein. I keep popcorn (100 cal. packs or air popped), carrot and celery sticks, berries, Baby Bel cheeses, yogurts, nuts, and other snacks around. I still snack, but most of the time I can avoid the chocolate and french fries and other…

Most likely it is high sodium and water weight. Soup and any kind of take out are usually very high in sodium. I also find that when I drink alcohol it seems to slow everything down and I don't burn calories as effectively. Try upping your water intake and watching the salt. I bet the extra will come right off!

I'm not a doctor, but I have problems with swollen ankles, feet, hands, and everything else when I go over 1500-2000 mg of sodium. That is what is recommended for my husband by his heart doctor. It's difficult if you eat anything out at a restaurant or packaged from the grocery store. To keep it lower, try to fix as much…

I'm 56 years old, 5'5 1/2", Femaie. I started on MFP 11 1/2 month ago at 179 pounds. Heaviest was 195. Current weight: 146. I lost the first 30 pounds from October to May. Since then, I have only lost another 3 pounds, but toning has led to a loss of inches. The pants I bought in April/May now fall off my a**. Goal weight:…

I agree with above that I would never go back to synthroid/lovothyroxine. I have been on Armour for several years and take a total dose of 150 mg per day, 90 in the am and 60 in the pm. This has been working for me very well for the last few years. I see a doctor of osteopothy who looks at all my blood work and levels and…

I'm still here and logging every day! Not much loss as I get closer to my goal. I'm trying to maintain right now as I get through the hectic schedule of a new school year. I still want to lose about 12-15 pounds more.

This sounds awesome! I'm going to try these as soon as life settles down and I have time to shop/bake in a couple of weeks!

I agree with Amy. I didn't have a "last meal" and I still eat anything that I want, sometimes. I have also made gradual changes as I have learned what a healthy portion is and have learned how to "maximize" my calories by eating lean protein, healthy fats, veggies and fruits, with minimal breads, pastas, rice, etc. I think…

All of the responders have excellent viewpoints. I want to ask you if you feel comfortable with your Thyroid medication and the doctor your are seeing. I did not have thyroid cancer, but my thyroid just quit working. I went through several changes in my dosage of thyroid supplements over a period of several years until we…

I don't log the everyday stuff, but the deep cleaning, cleaning/organizing closets, cleaning carpets, intense food preparation, etc, which are over and above the normal, I log. :flowerforyou:
