  • Thanks everyone! I appreciate the input. I've got about 7 weeks to go, and this gives me something to think about (other than delivery and subsequent sleepless nights!) =)
  • Awesome! Congratulations!!
  • Welcome, Penguin! And congrats on your pregnancy! I think we can all relate to the constant lethargy... I'm 33 weeks and have definitely noticed my energy level is far less than it was even 6 weeks ago. Good job on logging and tracking your intake. It can be such a chore sometimes, even though I've been doing it for almost…
  • Not quite, but everyone is different! I had nausea all day long every day from about week 7 to week 18, then it eased up a bit little by little and was done by about week 30. It's come back since then, but not nearly as bad. Just a few hours at a time here and there and only 3 or 4 days a week. Hopefully your doc has…
  • Welcome, mibarra! Congrats on your pregnancy. I know what you mean about watching what you gain. I started at a good weight and haven't gained excessively since getting pregnant (thanks to excessive nausea, vomiting, and heartburn...) but I still have gained a little faster than I had planned. So yeah, I'm being careful…
  • RunningMischka - great job on your daughter's room! I love the crocheted blanket. Cute colors. And your puppy is smiling. LOVE IT! I know what you mean about registries - UGH is right! My husband and I don't like to have a lot of stuff around the house so it's hard to register for things. Babies don't really need all that…
  • Hi again everyone! Been a while since I checked in. Looks like everyone is staying healthy and working their way through the emotional stuff that tags along with pregnancy! I, too, have thought a lot about fitness lately. It worries me because I haven't had either the time or the energy to fit in a proper workout on a…
  • I'm 5'2" and was @120 lbs pre-pregnancy. I have my daily calorie goal set to 1800. I have gained about 17 lbs (now in week 26) since then but can still fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans (getting pretty tough to zip some of them, though!) so I know it's pretty much all baby/pregnancy weight. Early on I was so sick that I lost…
  • Realized a couple of days ago that this week I'll hit the 6-month mark. Major panic! Holy cats, this keeps getting weirder. I'm still experiencing lots of emotional ups and downs as far as being pregnant, and going through a really rough patch yesterday/today. I'm a wreck! And it's only Monday!
  • Yes,cerimariegillet! Tired is right. Even on days when I feel like I have energy it's hard to make working out a priority because there are so many other priorities that I need to catch up on. Being pregnant is tougher than I thought, and my heart goes out to those that have REALLY tough pregnancies!
  • I am amazed at how much this little guy is moving! What an amazing thing. :) Super busy weekend ahead, but I need to brainstorm how I'm going to fit in some fitness time on top of all the other obligations. My doc cleared me to continue with weights as long as I feel good, but I've been seriously slacking. I didn't…
  • As for the calm bike rides, I'd say they do it for the same reasons people take pictures of sunsets and beach days. Adrenaline rush adventures aren't the only experiences worth documenting. Some people like to look back and relive the relaxing walk on the beach or that pleasurable bike ride they took with some pals. As for…
  • ^^I agree with this! Anytime I upped my calories after cutting I experienced sudden (and not mathmatically possible) weight gain, but it always leveled out shortly thereafter. Talking to your OB is a good idea, but if she's like mine she won't give you an a numerical calorie target. Mine was more focused on watching your…
  • I'm with you, mischka! This weekend was the first time I actually felt ready to make some purchases. Before that I was just overwhelmed and unenthusiastic about it all. So much weird stuff out there, and I am naturally a fairly simple/minimalist person. But we've been scoping out that particular stroller for a couple of…
  • FINALLY bought something for the big man this weekend! Bought his stroller and four little outfits. Just one newborn sized and three in the 9-month size. I think mostly I'm going to stock up on onesies and footie jammies. :D
  • I think I may buy stock in Rolaids. I get heartburn from absolutely everything - even water!
  • I hit 22 weeks this week! That marks a complete five months in... It's going so fast. Yikes! Still haven't shared the news with everyone, but we're sharing as we see people now. Kinda fun, kinda sobering. Still a mixed bag as far as emotions go. I'm not exactly excited, but getting there. Had to travel to D.C. for work…
  • I'd check out ZuzkaLight.com. Free online videos for all different skill levels. No weights or equipment required for most of them. And they're short (7-25 minutes each) so you can start out slow and build up to combining workouts!
  • Sorry to hear about the misery! I think TheLaser is right - it affects us all differently, and no guarantees that future pregnancies will be anything like prior pregnancies. I didn't experience the kind of instant pain you're describing, but had so much bloating and heartburn when I did eat, and aversion to just about…
  • It's definitely a weird feeling! I'm never alone these days...
  • That's good news! Will keep fingers crossed for good results. =)
  • Can relate. My husband is one of four sons and his brothers have had all sons (except for one daughter) so it would have been fun to add another granddaughter, but I'm still happy we're having a boy. Would have been happy with a girl, too. Just want the little one to be healthy and love to sleep as much as I do!
  • I have had so much heartburn misery, I am willing to try anything! Not a fan of sauerkraut, but I may tough it out to see if it helps. I'm definitely going to have to research and talk with my doc!
  • Holy cats! That is amazing!! When I found out I was pregnant I actually hoped for twins (one & done!) but no such luck. I can't imagine what you're feeling!!! Sounds like you've got a good plan to follow your doc's advice. Staying healthy is the most important thing now, and all the weight gain is only temporary (I keep…
  • Husband and I both thought from the start that we would have a girl. At the 13 week ultrasound the tech even told us she was sure that we were having a girl. Then last Friday we had our 19 week ultrasound and NOPE. Surprise! We're having a little boy! I would have been happy with a girl, too (actually was kinda looking…
  • This is pretty much how I describe what I'm feeling (at 20 weeks this week). Been feeling it for a few days, but haven't been positive yet that it's the little man. It does feel like a muscle twitch, or like someone flicked me - the way that it would feel if someone flicked you through a blanket. Sort of muffled. The…
  • Ooh! Good ideas! We are announcing it to our parents this weekend. I'll be 20 weeks and a few days (and barely showing - easily disguised!), so that will add to the surprise! For my parents, we are having lunch at a Chinese restaurant, and I've got custom fortune cookies that say things about being grandparents. This will…
  • Holy cats, this sounds like no fun... I think I'll schedule mine as early in the a.m. as possible so my sleep can count toward my fast. I have been extra sensitive (as in nausea, headaches, exhaustion) to foods/drinks and eating too much/not enough since becoming pregnant, so I'm hopeful that I will be one of the lucky…
  • 20 weeks this Thursday! (or today, depending on which ultrasound tech you ask...) Feeling pretty good. Finally feel like I'm almost over this crazy nasty cold and ear infection (going on 14 days of misery) and getting some energy back. Poor hubby (who has only been sick maybe five times in the 15 years we've been together)…
  • I set my calorie goal to maintenance (1700) but some days I go over and some days I go under. I eat if I'm hungry and not if I don't. I'm not so worried about the count as making sure I hit my macro goals. I started very fit and haven't gained much, most of which I attribute to not being able to eat much or keep much down…
