popcorn. my wife and i eat it every night. after the kids are in bed, we pop some orville redenbacher simply salted and melt real butter (unsalted) and drizzle it over top. every night. knowing that bowl of sweet buttery goodness is waiting for me at the end of the rainbow can get me through any amount of kid screaming and…

Chinese buffet... usually three plates! yikes. I try not to make anything completely off-limits, and am sure one day I'll go back to the buffet, but will definitely approach the experience with a whole new awareness and appreciation for what I am doing.

Pretty sure there's a Chinese proverb that says, "the person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it."

large chili from wendy's. it's like two and a half bucks and 270 calories! surprisingly filling and really good.

yes, go ahead and brush your teeth after dinner. it's hard to want to eat with a fresh clean mouth, especially knowing that that food might not go with the minty taste in your mouth. if you just have to eat something, popcorn is a good low cal snack.

Almost every pound I've lost since joining MFP has been on an elliptical, and my chest and arms feel great too. I don't have the context that her remarks were made in, but I certainly do not think ellipticals are a joke. I feel great after using them.

I agree that MFP overestimates elliptical calories. I aim for 1,000 calories on the elliptical at the gym. According to MFP, that takes me 61mins. According to the machine, it takes me about 80mins going at about level 14 resistance. I use the number I get from the machine and then tell MFP I have only done elliptical for…

haha, sat and read through all these posts (including the 20 page thread before it), and i think i'm a little paranoid. my wife called and was telling me about how she's shopping with her sister for her sister's wedding dress. i immediately was reminded about how beautiful my wife looked in her dress when we got married…

people often tell me that they don't think I'm overweight, or THAT overweight. I'm 40lbs overweight! I'm 6 and a half ft tall, so I know it can appear that I am a little thinner than I am, but come on! that's the last thing I want to hear when I am trying to keep myself motivated to lose weight! what are these people going…

trying to save up calories for a happy hour tonight and you guys aren't helping! i love food too, and that candied bacon looks particularly amazing!

auddii, That's a fair point and I have heard about that before. I haven't experienced muscle loss that I can notice, which I think might be for a couple of reasons: (1) I use the eliptical at a high enough resistance to feel the workout in my arms, and (2) I live on a farm and spend time working with animals, hauling bales…

I never do the weights because I am nowhere near my weightloss goal and I think it makes sense to see what a fit version of me looks like before I start spending time on weights. It sounds from your OP like you agree. When I use the cardio machines (eliptical is far and away my favorite), I do not look at the time, I look…

Keep it simple. I would stay away from classes only because they will take money and time -- with young children, both are at a premium. If you make this too complicated, it will overwhelm you. Also, try simple recipes, like baked chicken, meatloaf, tacos, pork chops in a crockpot with some BBQ sauce and apple slices. When…
