Me too! Trying to view body weight as an ongoing project rather than a one-and-done thing. Feel free to add me, most of my friends from before are inactive now!

I read a study summary at one point that found that people who feel like they're starving themselves binge whenever they get the chance. Maybe you need to trade off more calories every day for less likelihood of binging on the weekend--have a small treat every couple of days rather than once a week (in theory).

I'm assuming your detox is following some sort of plan... the plan should have details about the transition back to normal food. If you're at all worried about gaining weight after your detox then it probably isn't a great plan. That being said, soup should be okay if it's something simple like vegetable soup (homemade, of…

Consider where your calories are coming from--even if you've eaten tons of calories from junk on the weekend, you probably didn't get the nutrients that MFP "assumes" you're getting from the calories you eat (the 1200-cal minimum is based on eating good food... if you're eating less than 1200 calories of good food you…

I don't know... I don't think I've ever met a man who hasn't screwed with me. Maybe they're not complicated, but in my experience they're sneaky...

I alternate between two playlists--one is mostly rock and the other is fast latin (ie. mambos/sambas). I find that having two distinct playlists helps me avoid getting bored with one and I work out better.

Sometimes I wonder if I could live off of folding laundry. (It satisfies the "OMG EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE FOLDED THE SAME WAY" OCD-ish part of my brain. That 10-second pickup sounds like a great idea, I'm going to have the try that!

Haha, that's like me and anything salty. Sounds delicious--I'll have to try it since I just bought a HUGE pack of strawberries...

I would say encouragement is key--when they spend time working out with you, make sure to point out the good stuff they're doing and only make corrections when they're doing something dangerous or just really bad. You don't need to be patronizing about it, don't constantly be saying "Awesome job!  "…

It kind of sounds like there was a bad connection between you and your HRM... if you're pushing yourself to the limit I would think your heart rate would increase even if you've altered your blood pressure. I know I sometimes get wonky readings if the electrodes aren't reading properly. If you're worn out, I think it's…

If you like chili, it freezes really well. I've heard of people freezing casseroles too, although I've never done it myself. I've frozen soups and stews, and they're okay if you can tolerate some of the veggies going a bit mushy. I've never had any luck freezing potatoes or pasta, although it can be done, apparently...

BIA scales are useless as far as accuracy goes--they measure water and calculate fat/fat-free mass from how much water it thinks you have in your system. Just for fun, try drinking a bottle of Gatorade and step on the scale--because the electrolytes help conduct the small electrical charge through your body, the scale will…

Leukemia can also cause extremely elevated WBC counts, so a low WBC count is certainly not diagnostic of leukemia. Low whites really isn't diagnostic of anything--just being stressed out can falsely lower your white count too. If your mom intends to get re-checked in a few months as the doc recommended, don't worry about…

Thanks for the advice, guys--I'll try out some of the different things here and see if they help improve my speed/stamina, otherwise I guess I'll just try for slow and steady. :flowerforyou:

AHHHH YOU'RE THE BEST!! Thanks for pointing this out! :flowerforyou:

If it's localized pain and your thigh is red and hot to the touch, go get some medical help right away--it could be a clot, which you want to rule out if there's a possibility of it being there. Otherwise, phone your doctor or a nurse (not sure if you have a service like this, but in my city we have a hotline that connects…

I read about it earlier this year and I want to go *SO* bad... I'm thinking of going to the Portland one since I'm located in Canada and I guess we don't have that here...

I had that kind of pain once, turned out to be a small fracture in one of the bones of my ankle. Go see someone who can check you out or send you for an x-ray, because it's better to catch it soon and fix it rather than hobble around on it until it gets worse.

 indeed! I know the feeling--all my friends found boys, but between really not being that impressed and not being pretty enough for the ones I did like (and, being painfully shy), I wound up being someone's backup for prom. Of course, his first choice said yes. Meh.

Hey, cool, another 20-something who feels disappointed that all the men she's met can't live up to a 7-year old. I *knew* I should have stuck with the one I "married" in grade 1. :grumble: My friends are all getting married and having babies too... I'm sick of being the 3rd/5th/7th wheel. I used to try and pretend that I'm…

I agree--coffee and plain yogurt don't sound like they'd mix well. You could try adding strawberries if you have them, but I'm not sure there's much you can do at this point...

Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to show anything--I've seen people lose nothing for the first week, then lose a bunch of weight the second week--it just takes time for your body to adjust to the new activity level and calorie intake, and some people take more time than others. Don't give up! Also, if you're burning…

Core and back exercises will help somewhat, especially ones that concern the oblique muscles like twisting sit-ups and twisting lunges while holding a medicine ball (lunges will also help with your leg muscles). I'm looking forward to what others have to say, since I'm kind of in the same boat...

This, exactly! Thanks for posting!

I know it sounds stupid, but it takes time to come off (that whole "it didn't go on overnight so it won't come off overnight" thing again). If you've gained back all the weight you've lost--so what? Just start again, don't let the scale defeat you! We all have setbacks--some of us have bigger setbacks than others--but we…

I know! I just about cried when I saw my favourite beer was something like that. And the calorie count of wine is similar. :(

I usually buy whatever vegetables are on sale and cheap veggies whenever I need them, then I make a *big* portion of something full of veggies so I can reheat it quickly throughout the week. I also make sure to only buy what I need (no point in buying a giant heart of celery when I'm really only going to use a couple of…
