  • Its sounds like initially you had a mild sprain of the shoulder joint which would take a long time healing. What is happening now is the muscles have gone into compensatory tightness. The muscles in the arm have tightened and will be pulling the arm tight into the shoulder socket which is why it impinges on the overhead…
  • By all means make me a friend. I lost a stone and have put it back on, back on it again now
  • What you eat in private shows in public.
  • I love peoples honesty in this programme. I too identify with busyness messing with my head. After a long day of clients when I'm physically and mentally tired my attitude is I can't be bothered to eat properly and end up with take-away or grazing on rubbish. I've just had a weekend of this type of eating and today I'm…
  • 1. Half way through renovations to the house, and seeing light at the end of the tunnel. 2. Taking a day off following a busy week of clients last week. 3. Looking after myself and going to my chiropractor appt this morning. 4. My youngest son, doing so well at school and happy in his life. 5. My two oldest sons also…
  • I too was once fearful of hunger. I have just posted something about this is another OA topic saying that its only recently I've discovered that feeling is not so intense anymore. In fact, when I wake up hungry for my breakfast I actually embrace that feeling as a sign I was abstinent the day before. My fears did stem from…
  • Hello my names Gillian and I'm a compulsive eater. I come from the UK also and found OA in 2000 after struggling with anorexia, bulimia, overeating and co-dependency since I was 12. I attended regularly for 10 years and then my group folded. I tried to organise a group in my local city but unfortunately that folded also.…
  • Today I am grateful for: 1. Abstinence so far - its 6.20 pm and I feel satisfied with my last meal and not overeaten. 2. Courage to stop calorie counting - just for today - and enjoying the freedom that comes with that. 3. Doing a job I love and making good money. 4 . Being asked to help out at a Clinic on Friday and be…
  • bumping to find you later
  • Some very valuable points here.
  • If you clean up your diet then yes you will lose fat quicker because your body processes every bit of nutrition, where as with processed food your body struggles to digest all the 'foreign' ingredients. My suggestion would be to go by how your clothes feel, if they're loose with a 7lb gain its certainly not fat that's made…
  • Blah had a mini carb binge, big slab of fruit cake and half a malt loaf...... enjoyed it at the time but now ....... bloat and wind!!!!!

  • I for one will miss you if you go elsewhere! So hope you stay because you have so much knowledge about New Rules plus we'll get to hear how you're getting on with New Rules for Abs. Does everyone agree!!!!!!!!
  • I second everything you've said! I've really consciously stuck to my 40/30/30 ratios this week and noticed such a difference in fluid retention/bloat. Not just physically but mentally also. I think I'm about 27% fat (or so my weightwatcher scales tell me) and would be quite happy to get down to 24%. My biggest worry would…
  • Thanks Sam, yes I have tried these and they are a lot less bloaty than bread I find. Am enjoying salads at the mo with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressings
  • Thank you for these suggestions, they sound delish!!
  • Bump. Will read later and come back
  • How frightening for your dog and you, glad alls ok. 1. Having a day off, its 29 degrees and I'm off for lunch at the sailing club sitting by the river. 2. Although work has gone quiet, I know its HPs doing and trust all will be ok. 3. My husband has now filled the foundations with concrete and we can start building the…
  • Its taken me 4 days to read back LOL. So many new names and inspirational stories, especially all of you who started the same time as me in January/February and have now completed or nearly completed. I'm back at Stage One (2nd week) and am so much stronger than last time. Chiro has sorted my neck and twisted pelvis and…

A quiet house for 2 hours before my first client. 3. The sun shining (albeit for a few hours, then forecast more rain!) 4. Financial security…
  • Nursechery well done for accepting and changing (I know thats also another forum also). Today I'm grateful for: 1. Not getting impatient with my Mother when I met up with her. 2. Not allowing hers or my step-fathers negativity about 'life', bring me down, or allowing their mood to become my mood. 3. 3 clients booked in…
  • Wow what a thought provoking question!! I have so much to thank OA for and not sure I can put it all down here, because time has healed so much. Sometimes I look back over the 12 years and think was I really that person? I felt so alone and the victim of sexual abuse, raised by an alcoholic father (not my abuser) as a…
  • VeganChic can identify with your no. (2). 1. Waking up hungry, a sign of an abstinent day yesterday. 2. For not blaming myself for one of my clients bad moods yesterday. Just asking HP to remove those feelings I could feel worked. 3. Not rising to my husbands bad mood. I know its because he's physically tired from all the…
  • 1. The compulsion being lifted for another day. 2. A busy week business wise. 3. The foundations partly dug for our new extension. 4. No rain so could dig. 5. A relaxing evening.
  • Today I accepted I cant do this on my own, and isolation is part of the disease. I've gradually slipped into old ways this past week and need to get honest with others. This morning I changed by reading Step One again, and reading some other literature. I prayed and handed my day over. Even after 12 years in oa I still…
  • 1. It is 6 am on this sunday morning, and I'm wide awake with my stomach rumbling. A sign for me I was abstinent yesterday. 2. Went to a wedding reception last night, and felt confident in what I was wearing because I felt good in myself. 3. I didn't get jealous of younger, slimmer women, I felt as good as they…
